We had to wait at the hostess stand for a while as staff walked by and never said a word, then what seemed like five minutes they asked how many in our party, I told them we had a reservation but they didn't seem to care. The restaurant was not busy but still took about an additional four minutes to get the table ready for us. The food was ok, but it just seamed like we were a burden to the staff.

One of the worst places I have eaten in. Terrible service, terrible drinks and terrible food. On an evening when every other restaurant in town was packed, this place was empty. Although we made a reservation, the waiter said none was required (obviously) and showed no interest (or aptitude ?) in checking us in for OpenTable.

The Brussels sprouts, French fries, and Roma coma (rum drink) were good but otherwise pretty mediocre food that was priced too high. Service and people were nice but overall, nothing special. If it were 20% cheaper I'd be inclined to write a more favorable review.

Food was decent. The weirdest thing though was that we walked in shortly after they opened with a reservation and no one greeted us. There were a few waitresses talking together and they looked at us but no one said a thing. Party of 6 of us. Some guy in the kitchen finally said hello and was very friendly. Just odd it had to be a guy from the kitchen to do that. A lady finally greeted us but I was kind of turned off when a large party walks into an empty restaurant and isn't greeted. On top of that food was just ok and typically overpriced for a mountain town. Can definitely find better in telluride.

Where to begin? Orders were wrong, food was burned, salad way too acidic. Not a place to come for food.

RBG was a mixed bag. In the strange inverse that often happens, the restaurant was mostly empty and yet service was really slow. The pork chop and everything that came with it was fantastic--cooked and seasoned perfectly. The artichoke dip was tangy and very cheesy, but was served with oddly-near-stale wedges of flat bread. The calamari was not crispy or seasoned at all (it comes with/in a sauce, but the sauce didn't help the undercooked feeling or the lack of season). It was also a really warm day, and there seemed to be no AC in the place, which, given it's historic nature, I guess made sense...but made it somewhat uncomfortable. All in all I would give RBG another try, though with many other places in town, I might not make it back.

While Telluride restaurants like Cosmopolitan and 221 S. Oak may get all the attention, this gem is not to be missed. From the cocktails to the appetizers to the burgers, great value, even greater food. Try the calamari and the portobello burger with goat cheese - to die for! We'll be back!

We visited the RBG for Valentines day a pre-fix menu and had the short rib and the salmon dishes. The food and service were very good. The value was great as the meal was set at $29 per person and it included a salad, main course with vegetable, and a the desert. I would do this again and would recommend RBG to friends.

My family and I dined at RBGs on New Years Eve and had a great experience. Our server provided the best service we have had in Telluride so far. We had a mixture of appetizers and entrées and we all enjoyed what we had ordered. The pork chop was tender and cooked perfectly and the steak was delicious. The desserts we were recommended were also a treat - skillet choc chip cookie - my son thoroughly enjoyed it and the carrot cake for my husband which he said is the best carrot cake in town.

This is a cute restaurant on the main street in downtown Telluride with a fun atmosphere (though the layout makes it prone to high noise levels), however, the service and the food did not overly impress us. The staff was not able to seat us at the time of our reservation, but did so within 15 minutes or so. Everything in Telluride was very busy the week we were there--so we do understand that part of the equation-- but the staff could have been more gracious. Our appetizer was good but the other food was somewhat hit or miss, and the beef in the sliders was undercooked. The portion sizes on most entrees were very small, especially for the guys. There is a lot of potential with the size and layout, however, unfortunately, our group agreed that there is room for improvement at this time.

Standard bar-type fare, but some strange combinations: calamari were fried properly, but then bathed in a too-sweet asian style sauce and which made them soggy. (The sauce was OK with the beans that were underneath, but ruined the calamari. Would have worked better on the side.) One in our party chose a salad topped with chicken; the chicken was dry and the combination of items in the salad were a bit strange (blue cheese and kalamata olives??) Burgers were OK but nothing special. The space is nice, and there is a historic bar downstairs, but I won't bother to go again for the food.

The wine list was deficient in anything under $100/btl. Glass of Malbec at $8 or $9 with a mediocre Zin at $14 is kinda presumptuous. Appetizers were modest in portions and pricey. Good flavors but lacking in substance. For instance, the spinach and artichoke dip isn't a dip at all even though it's served with pita triangles, it was really a heavy cream reduction lacking texture. It would have been better served as an almost, alfredo sauce, and reinforced the small portions for the money. The wings were okay, but $12 for 6 is expensive and the french fries are super thick and not very many of them with an order, which is not my preference. i prefer lots of skinny fries and these we ate quickly and were still hungry, which is unusual when you're ordering burgers if you know what I mean. The chop salad wasn't really a chopped salad, though good, was just a basic salad with more dressing than usual, which I like, but at $13 or whatever, kind of expensive for a bigger than side salad but not a meal and not really a good appetizer, either. Overall, pricey for what you get. It's not labeled organic and so at those prices, I'd be looking for a better value meal. However, if I was on a business dinner and wasn't concerned about cost, I'd be okay with the ambiance, food and service. Expensive, but it's a ski town so I understand. Just not for a family affair.

We met some friends there with a 10 year old. The cocktails were great from craft beer to an old fashioned. Nearly everyone got their signature burger which was near perfect size with great flavor. My wife ordered the portobello burger which was also tasty. My son got the salmon w/ broccolini and risotto and enjoyed it. We also started with spinach artichoke dip and truffle fries (we could have split two orders of those!). It is a fun casual place with a small but very solid menu.

Most restaurants in Telluride are geared for high-end ski tourists or strictly local, but RBG has a broader appeal with a moderate price point. In the building of the former Hongas, RBG is not a "Hongas Wanna-be," but instead it is very much its own place. The decor is fantastic. The walls are covered with Telluride memorabilia , but the styling is upscale modern-mountain. With seating in three distinct areas, both upstairs and down, the vibe is lively but the noise not overpowering. We could comfortably have a conversation. The menu is relatively small, but offers several vegetarian options as well as burgers, salads and more fine dining options, such as grilled salmon, which we all enjoyed. We will definitely return.
