Roo’s Leap Restaurant already has a great reputation… fresh ingredients cooked to order, and a friendly efficient service with a laid back Aussie attitude.Whether you’re looking for a great night out or you just can’t be bothered cooking, we’re sure we’ll have just what you’re looking for.

So what’s on the Menu? Well although we have an Aussie theme you’ll be pleased to know that Australians don’t typically eat Ostrich or Kangaroo… so neither do you! We have a fantastic international menu including our wonderful prime steak burgers, various warm sandwiches, steaks, salads, pasta dishes and, of course, our special “barbied” meat, chicken and fish dishes. We also have a number of vegetarian options. Our menu has over 50 dishes to choose from!

Please note we are dog friendly in our lounge during lunch hours only.

Food was good with a bee and improved menu - it is obvious that Roo’s has decided to move their menu and food up a level and although slightly more expensive, the food is of a better standard and presentation higher quality. Staff are excellent, very friendly and efficient - but the Xmas decorations were terrible and so poor that they actually detracted from the experience rather than adding something “extra”- this really needs to be improved .

Our group of eight included 2 young children and we were catered for brilliantly. Each and every plate of food was delicious and the portions were very generous. We all agreed that it was one of the best meals we have ever had

I had a long blond hair in my food which I choked on! We didn’t have any blond members in our party so it had to have come from a member of staff. I advised a waitress, who apologised but did nothing else about it. It put me off my food. I did not enjoy the dining experience.

Yet again an absolutely fantastic meal. The staff are brilliant. Our server Lauren, hopefully got her name correct, is a credit to Roos. Nothing was a problem and always smiling.

Booked for 5:30 and table was ready when we arrived early. Service was very good. Food very good. Very noisy. Group of young men at the next table to us felt it necessary to shout at each other rather than talk.

Been many tines, it's been renovated and looks great. I had to put my main course back as it was cold but they didn't even question me, new one came quickly. The service is extremely good. Will be back again, for sure.

It was myself and my friends birthday. We booked our celebration meal at Roos and advised them on the online booking where it asks if there is an occasion. Our birthday was not even acknowledged, server barely smiled never mind welcomed us and just focused on getting the order in. A different celebration to what we are used to in previous years at Roos. Food good but portions have dwindled in the same ratio as prices have increased, an expensive night out.

We went there at 3.00 pm and it was closed. So we hung around Montrose. Thankfully it was a nice day and we went to the beach for a bit. We arrived back at Roo's at 5.00 pm, just in time for it opening and we were ravenous. We had starters of chicken wings and battered prawns, washed down with Budvar Beer. Great. Then went for Fillet steak medium done Goucho Style! Phenomenal! Especially accompanied by a nice glass of Oz Shiraz. Finished off with a chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream. Could have curled up in a ball of satisfaction and went for a snooze, but somehow i don't think the management would have appreciated that. I have already recommended this place to a friend and his family. Can't fault the place. Nice decor too. Sweet waitresses as well. G'day Cobber! from Glasgow.

First time here as we were visitors to the area. Would recommend, the food was very tasty, good sized portions and good value for money. The staff were so attentive and friendly. As it was lunchtime we were able to bring the dog and he was given some water. Lovely decor and the atmosphere was great, we were in at 3 pm on a Sunday and it was busy with families without being too loud. Toilets well stocked and clean.

We discovered Roo's Leap while we were on staycation in Edzell. We loved it so much that we have returned another 2 times since then! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is amazing!

Great vegan selection, better than I've seen in some dedicated vegan restaurants. Massive portions and staff were keen to ensure they "got it right". Only slight downside - my meal contained coriander, which I dislike, and I feel this should be mentioned in the menu as I'd have asked them to leave it out had I known. Would not hesitate to eat there again though.

This was our first visit, while on holiday, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were impressed from the moment we arrived outside and had a table with a lovely view. Our waitress was very friendly, polite and patient with no request being too much. Our Son is autistic and wanted tortillas to go with his meal which he was delighted to receive! The menu had a great selection. The food was delicious. We really couldn't fault it with empty plates all round! My Husband commented this is one of the best steaks he'd ever tasted. I'd highly recommend it and will most definitely return if we are in the area again. A big thank you to you all for the outstanding service.

Warm welcome. Friendly staff. Excellent food (Sunday Lunch). Obviously a popular place for locals with children and dogs. Will be booking for Wednesday. Thoroughly recommend.
