Rosa Mexicano - Union Square
Located adjacent to Manhattan’s bustling Union Square, Rosa Mexicano’s third New York location was designed with iconic bold colors and rich architectural details. Featuring both our largest bar and private room for special events, this location lends itself to any occasion. Whether you are having an intimate dinner, business lunch, imbibing in our famed happy hour or hosting your elegant fiesta, Union Square proves a perfect backdrop.
This restaurant was closed despite our booking and requests to confirm we were still planning g to keep the reservation. Very unimpressed
Turns out it was closed, but they still took reservations.
Food was cold overpriced and service was slow. Our reservation was for 915 pm on a Saturday night we were rushed to finish our dinner and they actually began to turn off the lights prompting us to rush and finish. This restaurant used to be one of my favorites but this was an incredibly poor showing.
It was my birthday! I loved it
Drinks were overpriced and portions were small. Service was rude and inattentive
Everything was amazing, but the service was poor.
Quite a disappointing meal overall. All food and drinks came out very slow and everyone’s meal was cold. We Repeatedly asked for the kids meals first but it took over an hour and came out with all the food that was ice cold. We would have sent it back but we were starving. The Fish special had tons of bones and a sauce that was served on the bottom of the plate and on top of the fish was a green salad with dressing on top of the fish (odd). Veggie enchiladas had raw spinach chopped up in the center was not sautéed it all and again freezing cold . Fish in the banana leaf was over cooked and rubbery and cold. Very disappointed will not be going back.
Very, very slow service. It took a full hour to get our first drink. We were very disappointed. The food was okay, but not great, especially for the price. Our friend had gone to another location in the past and was very disappointed with this location.
Great food as always, but service was terrible - it took 20 mins on average for each drink refill during bottomless brunch and our server was clearly overwhelmed
The seat we had was very close to the door and check in area. It was cold and did not like people over my food. Overall I love the place, my family and I go at least 6 times a year
We have eaten at this restaurant many times and maybe they were having an off night. We had a reservation and were seated by the door. Asked for medium guacamole and it was so spicy that it was almost inedible. My daughter order the steak Casada and it was inedible - not a good sign when you ask for a steak knife and it still can’t cut the meat. Ordered dessert think you can’t screw that up and the churros were ice cold which made them very hard to eat.
The restaurant is always loud so we are used to that - but there were so many people and the front desk was not doing a good job of having people either wait in the bar or in the covered entrance way and people were spilling into the dining area. A group of men stood in front of our table talking at the top of their lungs and one began leaning with his butt on our table. So many options in NYC that it is going to be a while until I feel like spending that much money for such as terrible experience.
I would recommend it but alert them that its very noisy. If the lowered the music just a little it would be better.
The service was outstanding for such a big and busy place.
Went for my birthday dinner with a group of nine—would definitely recommend! Great for big groups, and the ambiance/high ceilings/general largeness of the space is pretty hard to find in nyc. Food is overpriced, but for the location it’s to be expected, and it’s great quality. Only con was that it was hard to flag down our waiter a few times, but nothing too bad/he was still very friendly and personable.
Best guacamole and great service.
Surprised by the generous size of the entrees. Very nice. Guacamole is a classic here and very well executed with lots of chips.
Enjoyed the restaurant but the large pitcher of sangria was mostly ice and at $45, overpriced.
Host tried to seat us at very back of dining room, though there was plenty of space elsewhere. We requested medium spicy guacamole; it was mild. Steak tacos okay, not great. Ditto with enchiladas.
Fun place. Very good food - creative Mexican dishes.
The food was excellent. Just one minor dislike. We were not allowed to buy drinks at the table at the happy hour price. If you have happy hour it should be extended to all customers not just the ones at the bar.
I haven't been to the restaurant since last summer, it seems that they have a new chef. The menu has changed and the food was very dry to taste. I loved this place but the food was just not pleasing.
Our server was great. Drinks and starters were good, and food was fair.
Not as good as other locations. Go for the guacamole, the rest at the Union Square location is meh.
This chain has gone steadily downhill the past few years. It is a shame. Guacamole was the only decent Food we had.
This is usually one of our go to's for Mexican. The food and drinks are always delicious. This visit we had children in our party (who were very well behaved). Our meal seamed very rushed. Not sure if they were trying to move us along quickly since we had kids but we did't even finish our appetizers and they were bringing out the food. Very good meal just didn't get to enjoy it.
We used to eat a lot at Rosa Mexicano US, but since some moths ago, the restaurant has suffered some changes, and particularly the food Is worse than it used to be. We decided to give it another opportunity, but definitely we don’t like the way it is now. Probably they have changed the chef and I’m sure I’m not the only one that have noted it, unfortunately for worse. I don’t think I’ll come back.
The restaurant is HUGE--not for intimate dining. It's noisy, but you can hear, sort of. Portions are big and the food is very good; the menu is inventive and various. The liquor possibilities are extensive. Service was a bit distracted, but good enough (large-ish parties often are present). Over-all, a very good restaurant.
Too loud, too many tourists and the service was inteusive and 70% off. Will not be going back.
Best guacamole ever made fresh right there… Chips are also out of this world! Everything at this place it’s authentic so if you’re looking for a burrito don’t come here. We will definitely eat here again!
We usually go to Rosa uptown and this was our first time at this location. I did not know that the food quality here was going to be lower, or we would have gone somewhere else! It looked like they expect a different crowd, less affluent than the play-going people uptown. A disappointment.
Awesome place. it was my first time and the food was great. Service was wonderful. Can't wait to go back.
I’ve eaten there many many times. We usually have a great time and this time I brought friends who have never been before. We had horrible service, we were sat in a corner at 5:25 in an empty restaurant, we waited 30 minutes for them to even ask what our drink order was and we didn’t get the drinks until after the food came. We never saw the same waiter or waitress twice and had no clue who are actual waiter was. It soiled the whole evening.
Reliably good food -- every time. And, I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience.
One of my top 10 places!!
Best Mexican overall! The mole is Devine!! As is the drinks!!
overall it was a good experience, pretty good service, cool drinks, the food could be better
our biggest concern was when we just stepped in, we were greeted with chlorine smell ( happened to be the hostess just wiped her table, she cleaned it really good! the smell was just horrible, like we walked into some chemical store - doesn't help the first impression! )
anyway, it worth another try, going to keep this place on my list
It was great as always we will definitely return
Food was dried out and inedible. WAY worse than when we've eaten there before.
Definitely not what it used to be.
