Take part in a time honored Waterton tradition with Afternoon Tea at the Prince of Wales Hotel. Inspired by British tradition, Afternoon Tea features a selection of teas from Jolene's Tea House (Banff, Alberta) and a variety of delectable sandwich squares and pastries.

Tea is served in the Royal Stewart Dining Room, which overlooks Waterton Lake for some of the most spectacular views around. Join us for this unique experience daily from 12 PM to 4 PM during the summer operating season.

    The food was very good and the views were excellent, however our waitress was cold and rude. She seemed very annoyed we didn't order a bottle of wine (but instead ordered at least the equivalent in beer), she asked us twice, and the first time we declined it in favor of beer she said, "Okay." and simply walked away without taking the beer order. We had hoped to ask her for some recommendations with the food and possibly with surrounding hikes, but her obvious disinterest dissuaded us of that. I also understand that Open Table probably requires clients to ask about the special occasion when making a reservation, but the fact that no one acknowledged that an occasion had been selected on the reservation was a bit disappointing. (A simple, "Thank you so much for choosing to dine with us on your birthday." would have gone a long way.) The rest of the wait staff seemed jovial and pleasant, so it was extra frustrating our waitress seemed like she'd rather be anywhere but the restaurant. (The person who delivered our food even made a more positive impression in her couple minutes with us.) The views were spectacular but we were sat in the back corner right under the speakers which meant we couldn't enjoy them as much. The food was delicious and the beer we got was fantastic, but I can't say they were delicious enough to make up for poor service. All in all, I can't say I'd recommend the place to friends or to random strangers.

    The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great, as are the views from some seats. On the downside, the menu was very limited and prices high. Portions also small. My dessert was just plain awful. Some dried up chunks of a sort of shortcake with a very few slices of strawberry and mushy rhubarb and a few dollars of whipped cream. The ice cream that came with it was very good. Granted it was the end of the season and they were probably trying to use of the ingredients they still had.

    This was such an enjoyable experience. High tea at Prince of Wales in Waterton Alberta Canada. The hotel has such a history on beautiful grounds. Our server, food and tea was exceptional. Loved the view of the lake

    Food was amazing, but sadly our appetizer came out after our meals. We told them it was okay but then asked for more crackers to enjoy the appetizer after we finished and were charged for extra crackers. We didn’t let it ruin our experience but expected to at least not be charged for extra crackers when they forgot our appetizer till after we had our meals

    The high tea was a wonderful experience, and the food and tea were excellent. The staff seemed inexperienced and unsophisticated, using the word "samwiches" to describe some of the menu items. The website of the hotel and restaurant presents the appearance of a first class establishment, which is not the true experience of the place. It rather feels like it's being run by poorly trained college kids in several-year-old uniforms.

    The atmosphere was lovely, and the views couldn’t be beat. The food was limited, but very good. Our server was in her last week ( as is the hotel, for this season) and I think she was already “done” and working on auto pilot She was polite, but not really interested anymore

    This review is for afternoon tea. This was a very fun experience and every one of the small bite food items was delicious. Our server was very welcoming and explained the tea choices and food in great detail. Loved our window table and spectacular view. Highly recommend.

    Excellent service, despite it being the end of the season, with limited options. Those going need to keep that in mind. Matthew, was who took care of us the last evening, he did an excellent job with recommendations and service.

    Went to the Royal Stewart Dining Room at the Prince of Wales Hotel for our anniversary. We made reservations for dinner in the dining room for Saturday night. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We were shown to our table and ordered cocktails from the server. When she arrived with our cocktails, she asked if we had decided on our dinner. I told her that we were not in a hurry and would be ordering a bottle of wine with dinner and then told her our order. We had barely two sips of our cocktail when the appetizer was served. I mentioned again that we were in no rush and would like to finish our cocktails before having our mains. About 40 minutes later, I was able to get the attention of our server and asked if she could get our wine. As she poured the wine, I told her that it would be fine to put in our entree orders now. Imagine my surprise when not 5 minutes later our entrees were set at our table. I was obvious that these orders had been placed some time ago and were either reheated or had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. I ordered bison stroganoff and it had been sitting long enough that any sauce had disappeared and it was dry and awful. Very disappointing! One more quick note....When I made the reservation, I was asked if this was a special occasion. I did note that it was our 46th anniversary. This was never acknowledged...I don't want anything because its a special occasion but then, why ask the question ?

    Knowledge of how to make a true British cup of tea was lacking - rather weak, and had to request more tea bags. Room was also stuffy - I'd suggest opening the windows.

    It was a lovely experience! The beef tenderloin was divine and the view was breathtaking. The waitress had some trouble remembering what was ordered. Also, my after dinner coffee was service in a cup without a saucer...every other table had cups and saucers. Just very strange. It was disappointing to see very few people dressed appropriately for formal dinner in a dining room like that.

    Lovely dining room experience. Gorgeous views. Server educated us on all the delicacies of the High Tea. The salmon was particularly tasty! Would have liked more scones than all the dessert items. The haskap jam was a delicious surprise.

    The Prince of Wales Hotel afternoon tea is delicious, charming and delightful. The tea cakes, scones and sandwiches are delicious. It’s a wonderful experience in a great hotel. Be sure to reservations early!

    Service wasn’t great. Nothing was explained to us about our high tea, came around once to replenish the “unlimited tea”. Had to wave down other servers to get help and more tea. Meal was explained to us after we finished… there were other servers around us that we eavesdropped on to get information from

    For the view and experience, totally worth it! The food was also quite yummy. A little on the expensive side but not surprising for a national park and in my opinion, worth the money to do it! Our server, Julia, was kind, professional and prompt. I’d recommend going earlier as the earlier your reso, the more likely you are to sit by the beautiful window! Also highly recommend staying for a drink after in their lobby lounge, as the historic talk at 8pm was so Much fun!
