Had Christmas Eve dinner with my son. All the menus are exceptional, compared to what I had in Japan and other cities. Sake list is also recommeded. Pls try nigiri/ sashimi platters.
The food was excellent. The fish was fresh and beautifully presented. One problem I had is that the Open Table app had not been updated recently so when I saw that the Omakase was either $80 or $100. I resolved to treat my daughter and niece to a special dinner as it was their final exam for term day at McGill. I was somewhat taken aback when I saw that the price was now $115. I asked the server about it and she said I obviously had mistaken the restaurant for another, because the price hadn’t been that low in a while. I showed her the Open Table app and she realized I was telling the truth. I ended up paying for $115 for 3 as the girls were so excited to try omakase. But it cost me $105 more than expected. Not very impressed with what amounts to false advertising. If you are mentioning prices they should be updated at least once in a while.
Nice place, good food.
Absolutely amazing sashimi, amongst the best in Montréal. but get ready to take out your wallet, because portion are small and very expensive.
Excellent sushi. The fish was fresh and the itamae knew how to make sushi. My only complaint was that my mother finished her meal before my food was even delivered.
The food was good but overpriced big time. I have been on high end fancy restaurants but Ryu is not worth their prices
Sat at the counter. Awesome experience with exquisite food
Excellent service, cozy atmosphere, and most importantly amazing food!
Our bartender/waiter was a moron
Great food, really great experience! Waiters are very attentive… sometimes too much. Otherwise AMAZING and would definitely go back!
There was plenty of room for each table of 2. This was very nice and we felt our conversation was fairly private. The waiter was amazing. He smiled, was very helpful in his suggestions, and simply could not have done anything more. The food was fresh and tasty. Highly recommended. I will be back soon!
The food and service were excellent. I was disappointed in the amount of beverage in our martinis. The glasses looked like they were 2/3 full at best. Loved the cold saki recommended by our waiter.
C'est la troisième que nous allons, ma conjointe et moi, au Ryu. Nous n'avons jamais été déçu. Chaque plat est une expérience.
The service was phenomenal.
The food was delicious too.
Delicious food, great service

Very distinguish and absolutely delicious. Products from everywhere and most from Japan imports. Good music and decoration fitting to a date night or else.
The service was quite poor at this restaurant. I was seated and wasn't served water for the first 15 minutes. I had a table seated right next to me and they were served water + refilled before I had to call for the waiter as he passed me by without looking over at my table and asked for water. It's unfortunate because I love Ryu and I love their Westmount location, but definitely will not be coming back to the Peel location.
Fish was fresh and taste ia fantastic
We had a great time at Ryu last night. The service was impeccable (polite, knowledgable, efficient). We sat at a lovely table in front of the window. The music was good. The wine was delish and the sushi tasted amazing and fresh. Covid protocols were followed, the restaurant and washrooms were clean.
For the price of it the food came in such small quantities. I payed 50$ for 4 slithers of meat, literally 4 slithers. The food tasted amazing. Just the quantities and prices were ridiculous. I don’t mind paying 120$ for a steak as long as that steak tastes great and fills me up. But when you pay 50$ for a tease it’s just ridiculous.
Amazing food as usual and great service. I highly recommend the place.
Only thing we did not like: Music was WAY too loud. It's not a disco, it's a restaurant. Hard to hear the waitress or carry a conversation.
Our waitress was very welcoming and helped us pick out the best food according to our taste! They were very careful and attentive with my shellfish allergy. The fish was very fresh and had great flavour! I do recommend give this place a try!
Wagyu sashimi was really good yet so small. Very disappointed in the portion size. The other sushi rolls we ordered were good but could get something similar for 1/3 the price elsewhere. Miso soup was very good. Service was great.
The waiter was courteous, the food delicious. Noisy, but what do you expect on a Friday night?
Loved it! Went with a friend on a friday around 6pm. It was very nice inside, good ambiance. Food was amazing. I have the scallop maki and lobster maki, both were excellent. Some of the best sushi I have ever had.
Prices are a bit higher than other places, but I thought it was well worth the price.
Cocktails were just OK, wish they offered wine by the glass instead of by the bottle. Otherwise I have no complaints!
Excellent food. Service a little slow. Would go back.
Very good sushi, I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area!
We are spoiled when it comes to Japanese food, and this lived up. Excellent, fresh, and lovely presentation. There were only two desserts to choose from, but both were excellent. Very good service, though the main course lagged a bit so that some people (there were five of us) got their food quite a bit earlier than the others. The only complaint would be that the music was a bit too loud for those who enjoy having a conversation. The staff did lower the volume upon request to a manageable level. The decor is chic and the tables are comfortably set apart in these COVID-uncertain times. The restaurant checks for COVID vaccination upon entry, so do not forget to bring along. We ate at the Peel Street location, but the newest one is meant to be bigger with a larger offering of cooked foods. Looking forward to coming again or eating at the other two locations.
It was my first time ever having sushi and it was amazing I would go back in a heartbeat, drinks were good service was good food was fantastic
Greg service and food !
The food and service at Ryu was amazing. Although the tables were slightly too close for my comfort, given that Covid is still around. Other than that, I would definitely recommend eating here!
Great service, knowledgeable staff. Excellent food.
Amazing experience! Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Service was impeccable and the ambiance was perfect. Highly recommended.
Overall food was very good. Service was a bit slow, but we were satisfied.
Truly awful experience guaranteed when the kitchen can't even get allergy requests right. Ruined the entire meal bc they ignored our request to not add cilantro to anything in our tasting menu (what sushi place even uses cilantro anyway?). The first course had it which not only blew out my dates taste buds but actually made him sick as a result. Only thing they did was offer him a shot of whiskey. Absolutely pathetic. Perhaps one of my worst dining experience ever bc of their ineptitude in the kitchen. Utterly disappointed and can't believe the price I paid for such miserable meal.
Cannot stress enough that people shouldn't dine at this establishment.
Excellente place pour des sushis haut de gamme, belle ambiance.
