I have nothing bad to say about my experience at RYU! The food was amazing, the sushi served traditionally as it would be in Japan (small rolls). All the fish was extremely fresh. Our waiter, Francois, was attentive and knowledgeable, he steered us in the right direction in terms of what to order and the perfect amount to order for 2 people. There was another waiter too that would come by our table - he was also great. Lastly, the ambience was 10/10, noise level perfect, good music and everything was reasonably priced for the quality. Do yourself a favour and go here!
The food was very good but we waited 30 minutes to be seated even if we had a reservation. Our food was also very late to arrive even though many of the new customers were being served.
This meal certainly was a highlight for us. Not only was the service really seamless and the fish incredibly fresh and expertly handled, the art of making good rice for maki is a thing in itself. And the team knew how to cook and roll that rice perfectly. I could appreciate every grain and it complemented the fish without overweighting the roll or the nigiri. The cocktails are so delicious and perfectly balanced. I cannot say enough about this amazing experience. Thank you!
Pricey but good food. Really wanted to have sake with our meal but no affordable options.
Good food, not too noisy, slightly overpriced, great service
very slow service and it wasn't that impressive (as Asian standard speaking)
Best restaurant I’ve ever ate at. Was never a sushi fan but now I am completely obsessed.
I was worried about the quality of wine at the restaurant. I called and asked if they had a corkage fee. I was told that they had an excellent wine list so they did not allow outside wine to be brought into the premises.
Upon ordering, I was told that they only had on red wine by the glass. It was a Pinot noir. I was worried about the quality as many restaurants open a bottle of Pinot and still serve it the following day. Pinot oxidizes in 12 hours so it is not good the following day. The waiter suggested that I need not worry. There would be no charge if I did not like the wine.
They brought the wine, poured 1/2 ounce into my glass and asked me to try. That is the oldest trick and I should have caught on. You can’t smell oxidized wine with only 1/2 ounce. I said that it was fine.
After he poured the rest I realized that it was oxidized. I returned the wine.
I was still charged for the wine because I said it was fine during the taste testing.
Terrible business practice. Trip advisor will get a review.
RYU @peel is the best contemporary Sushi place in downtown. Amazing staff, high-quality food, and luxurious ambience!! After re-opening, their menu has been updated to incorporate a few new items (tasty surprise!!). Highly recommend to everyone.
Amazing experience from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave!
Amazing sushi the real deal and our waiter Gin was great! Will definitely be returning!
Incredible night !! We will come back for sure !
Thank you !
I enjoyed dinner there ! I would prefer to have inside seating but over all it was a very nice evening
thé best sushi i’ve honestly ever had!!! the ambiance was perfect and we had an interaction with almost ever single waiter which was amazing
Some of the signatures rolls were quite expensive for how simple they were
Great food !
Really good sushi and very luxe environment. Friendly staff
Fun ambience, amazing food, tasty drinks! Waiters were amazing too
The Omakase is amazing! I like the way the waiter change our plate and chopsticks after each course - so considerate! Love it
Poisson exceptionnel, c’était une expérience magnifique.
Délicieux… équilibre des saveurs , qualité des ingrédients. Service impeccable. Nous y retournerons
While the food is good, fresh and nicely presented, the price of the sashimi is astronomical, the price of the maki's exorbibant, given their size. Only for high-end customers.
Exceptionnel food, super fresh and very well prepared with the best quality. Would easily recommend and revisit.
As always, A+ sushi in the heart of downtown Montreal!
They did not have hot Sake but the food was excellent.
Food and service were amazing, definitely going back!
Délicieux, de l'accueil à l'assiette!
Great atmosphere! Service was efficient and waiters were very nice and courteous. Overall great experience, a bit pricey for the amount of food that you get but the drinks were top. Would recommend!
Nourriture était très bien, mais ce fût long avant d'obtenir l'apéro et nous avons du remplir nos verres de vin nous-mêmes tout au long du repas. Le personnel était toutefois gentil et courtois.
I went here with my Japanese friend, she recommended Ryu and we were pleasantly surprised at how fresh the sushi was! It is quite expensive but the quality was excellent and it was totally worth it. The service was great too!
The sashimi and maki are fresh but we need to ask the waitress to change our plates after appetizers and sashimi. The buzzer was not understanding that plates and chopsticks need to be take away first before placing the fresh ones. It’s incomparable to authentic Japanese restaurants’ waiters & waitresses.
Prompt and friendly service with cool vibe. Menu had lots of really great options for nigiri, sashimi, rolls and platters with options to add in more rare types of fish. Great cocktail list as well. Great date spot and incredibly fresh fish with perfectly portioned sushi.
This restaurant is VERY expensive for what it is. Though the food is pretty good, paying 30$ for lobster maki is insane. 10$ for a very small amount of Japanese wasabi… insane x 2.
Right next to our table was a large speaker that was was blaring out music. So loud.
The waitress, Max, was very nice.
I would recommend this place if you’re into showing off that you have money and some class. But if you’re a sushi lover, you’d be better off eating at Tri’s or Saints.
Nice food, good service
Nourriture incroyable, par contre, service un peu lent.
Pas beaucoup de choix pour cocktail sans alcools.
Best quality sushi I've ever had!
So fresh, combination of flavors out of this world.
Although abit pricey was worth every dollar.
The food and sake are delicious! Cute terrace as well.
Great fresh food and excellent service :)
Good food good vibe and good ambiance! Staff was nice
The food was well presented and really good. The service was wonderful and our waitress took good care of us.
The food was really good, especially the chef's specialty. However, the service was really lacking. Dishes were delivered in an unorderly fashion such that we were all eating at different times and there was always someone at the table with no dish in front of them. At one point the waiter asked if he should bring us the bill when we were still missing some of our dishes! The waiter apologized and even brought complimentary sake, but this kind of service is not what I expect from a restaurant with these prices.
