My husband and I like S+L, it's a great alternative to The Keg. I picked this spot to celebrate my birthday dinner because they sent me a free birthday cocktail, wahoo! Love the APP and the rewards. Was slightly disappointed by a couple things on this visit...
1) The server did not acknowledge it was a birthday celebration once, it was in the reso.
2) The calamari (our fav) is now served with half the bowl being sauce...that is off putting.
3) The steaks were excellent, the sides were good, but I was surprised by the petite serving of lobster my husband got for $19, it was like 2 bites...where was the rest of the tail?
All in all, we left full and will most likely return.
The waitress did offer me two very generous wine tasters to help me decide on my Cab pairing.
Pretty good meal, staff took COVID precautions, meals at our table came at different times but otherwise good.
Good overall but when we looked at the bill we were over charged for subbing out food. We ordered the master chicken and the pieces of chicken were tiny. Not good value given that we paid $26 just for the chicken and then $7 more for Brussels. We didn’t even get the corn or the potatoes that it comes with because we thought we could have brussel sprouts instead. Wish we were told that.
We've enjoyed our many dinner occasions at S&L Bar & Restaurant in South Surrey. We've never been disappointment. We dined here twice this week alone.
The attention to every detail, from our reservation requests, to the food preparation as well as the great presentation, are confidence builders in our constant referral to S&L.
Our dinning selections have always been served professionally by the welcoming staff. This week we were pleased to have been served by 'Meagan' once again. It was our first time at S+L. Everything started off well. We had a server with a trainee and they were both very pleasant to start. Everything was okay until after the appetizers arrived. We rarely saw our server after that. Our tuna nachos were good and there was a slight delay on getting entrees after we finished our appy. Our steaks were brought by Another server/helper. Food was delicious, wished I could get fresh cracked pepper but because of COVID, we only got the packets. Mushrooms were a little over seasoned with salt but, still good. Server finally checked on us to see how things were and we were still fairly content at this point.
That was really the last time we saw our server until the end. Our drinks were never refilled. Empty plates were never cleared until other servers were passing by and took our empty plates but, not our server. We finished eating and still took 20 minutes for our server to come by and check if we wanted dessert and boxes to pack up. Was not happy at this point and just wanted to leave. She took another 10 minutes just to get boxes for us to pack our food and get the debit machine. She never apologized for being not being around and was more focused on her other tables. I would expect more since we spent $180 for dinner and it was only my wife and I. I finally told her that I wasn’t happy while I paid, she then apologizes at this point and said that she had an issue with another customer. Wasn’t happy that she didn’t ask for a manager to even assist when she was busy elsewhere. I asked where her trainee was, she replied that she was sent home.
I am also a customer and yet, my wife and I were not treated as so.
Food was delicious, would possibly try coming back, for the food... would wish for better service. It was our first fancy dine in restaurant since COVID and it was definitely DISAPPOINTING.

This was my first experience eating in a restaurant since March of this year. The staff was very, courteous, friendly and kept within ALL the guidelines of Covid19. The food was amazing and we appreciated the free bubbles & dessert for our Anniversary!
Very disappointed. I brought a friend here for a birthday lunch. Food was underwhelming for the price. We sat on the patio- table we sat at was huge for two people and the table had two large full length cracks in it. This used to be a great place to eat- seems tired now. Service was very good.
Met a girlfriend here for lunch and it was so nice to see all the staff wearing masks and having hand sanitizer set up for when you walk in! Had the traditional breakfast which was great! I loved that they put fresh greens on there too! Will definitely be back.

Good food a little pricey. Glad they have gluten free options and a dedicated gluten free fryer.
Everyone has a good time and all our meals tasted excellent. The house salad was tasty and the raisins in it added sweetness

I love your restaurant as my husband and I are regulars ( have our signature knife) and have recently been coming for your now wonderful happy hour. First time for brunch and appreciated it. Food was just OK but service impeccable as always. Loved the reasonable Ceasars!
They implemented good COVID safety measurements with disposable menus, hand sanitizer, wearing face masks and leaving tables in between empty.
We went for Canada Day brunch and we were very happy with the health and safety precautions taken. Our masked server was upbeat and friendly. The $3.00 mimosas were delicious and our brunch was awesome. I had the lobster and shrimp bennie, which came with home fried potatoes and a smooth lemon brown butter hollandaise. They had a kids menu which was very welcome. This is a great place for drinks and appies with friends, a romantic dinner, and also brunch.

Regret visiting this place. Had reservations for a special dinner here. Both mine and my date’s experience was horrible here. The menus are misleading. My date’s food was not what she ordered off the menu, even after explaining it multiple times. However, they didn’t charge for it which is fine. She shouldn’t be charged for something she didn’t order or even eat. Been here once or twice before and experience wasn’t any better. Thought it may change but i was wrong. Never again. Avoid S&L kitchen at all costs. I believe they don’t cater very well to non-caucasians. As i looked around the restaurant, all the non-caucasian tables were having issues with their food items from being taken back, menu items incorrectly brought out, servers and manager showing remorse or trying to make things “right”. If you are non-caucasian, just please avoid. Save yourself the hassle and spend your money elsewhere.
The location is very nice, decoration and ambiance was good. It wasn’t overly busy or noisy. Seated quickly and server arrived shortly thereafter. We ordered the master chicken and the wagyu beef dip. Both were excellent and cooked perfectly. Overall it was a good time, will be back again.
We felt the Valentines special was just OK.
When the food was served, we had to ask for plates to eat off.
The potatoes were warm, not hot, but maybe because of the added sour cream.
The portion of the Caesar salad could of been larger.
The meat was delicious, and the dessert.
We frequent the S&L chain at many locations. Have been to the South Surrey location before and had a great meal. Menu has been altered in the past couple of months - No Scallops and Gnocchi anymore and the Ling Cod has been changed to Sablefish. The fish was awful - oily, an end cut (tail) of the fish. Just terrible and for an inflated price. Only ate the potatoes on my plate, and served with overcooked celery and carrots for the veg??? Will continue going, but will definitely be ordering steak next time. Higher ups need to look at the menu again...

Appy was very salty
Disappointed the wagu steak had a strange tasting seasoning. We just wanted the regular salt & pepper like numerous times before. The lobster/prawn linguini recipe was also changed, and not for the better.
Prices went up, food quality went down.
The food was very good but was a very small amount. We came home still hungry after having a full entree each.
We sat near the door and had a cold draft throughout our dinner.
Waitress was very nice.

The 4 of us were all disappointed in our meals.
My meal and my friends meal were cold.
The other 2 had the Wagu beef and both commented on how salty it was.
Wine was very expensive.
It's too bad. We have eaten here several times, but feel that the quality has gone down.

It was a cold day when we came to S&L and there were six of us. The only table that would accommodate 6 other than putting three tables together in a line, was outside on the patio. The heaters were not giving off much heat, so it was a chilly experience. Even some people we talked with were cold inside. The food was very good and we will return again.

We went here for our late Christmas work dinner. Sat on the porch on our first really cold day, but we were really warm. The food arrived warm and good. Our server was really respectful of our time together and didn't interrupt us more than necessary.
