Regret visiting this place. Had reservations for a special dinner here. Both mine and my date’s experience was horrible here. The menus are misleading. My date’s food was not what she ordered off the menu, even after explaining it multiple times. However, they didn’t charge for it which is fine. She shouldn’t be charged for something she didn’t order or even eat. Been here once or twice before and experience wasn’t any better. Thought it may change but i was wrong. Never again. Avoid S&L kitchen at all costs. I believe they don’t cater very well to non-caucasians. As i looked around the restaurant, all the non-caucasian tables were having issues with their food items from being taken back, menu items incorrectly brought out, servers and manager showing remorse or trying to make things “right”. If you are non-caucasian, just please avoid. Save yourself the hassle and spend your money elsewhere.
The location is very nice, decoration and ambiance was good. It wasn’t overly busy or noisy. Seated quickly and server arrived shortly thereafter. We ordered the master chicken and the wagyu beef dip. Both were excellent and cooked perfectly. Overall it was a good time, will be back again.
We felt the Valentines special was just OK.
When the food was served, we had to ask for plates to eat off.
The potatoes were warm, not hot, but maybe because of the added sour cream.
The portion of the Caesar salad could of been larger.
The meat was delicious, and the dessert.
We frequent the S&L chain at many locations. Have been to the South Surrey location before and had a great meal. Menu has been altered in the past couple of months - No Scallops and Gnocchi anymore and the Ling Cod has been changed to Sablefish. The fish was awful - oily, an end cut (tail) of the fish. Just terrible and for an inflated price. Only ate the potatoes on my plate, and served with overcooked celery and carrots for the veg??? Will continue going, but will definitely be ordering steak next time. Higher ups need to look at the menu again...
Appy was very salty
Disappointed the wagu steak had a strange tasting seasoning. We just wanted the regular salt & pepper like numerous times before. The lobster/prawn linguini recipe was also changed, and not for the better.
Prices went up, food quality went down.
The food was very good but was a very small amount. We came home still hungry after having a full entree each.
We sat near the door and had a cold draft throughout our dinner.
Waitress was very nice.

The 4 of us were all disappointed in our meals.
My meal and my friends meal were cold.
The other 2 had the Wagu beef and both commented on how salty it was.
Wine was very expensive.
It's too bad. We have eaten here several times, but feel that the quality has gone down.
I am a huge fan of the JR group. Very disappointing.

Fantastic service! We wanted for nothing
Nicely accommodated milk allergy.
Thank you so much for your 5 star ratings! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
It was a cold day when we came to S&L and there were six of us. The only table that would accommodate 6 other than putting three tables together in a line, was outside on the patio. The heaters were not giving off much heat, so it was a chilly experience. Even some people we talked with were cold inside. The food was very good and we will return again.
Thank you so much for your ratings and feedback about your experience at S+L recently. Its sounds like we need to be a little more mindful of the guests comfort when being seated. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your meals and that we will see you again soon!
We went here for our late Christmas work dinner. Sat on the porch on our first really cold day, but we were really warm. The food arrived warm and good. Our server was really respectful of our time together and didn't interrupt us more than necessary.
Thank you so much for your ratings and notes about your experience. We always value all feedback as it really helps us to focus on the whole guest experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Just wanted to go out for brunch on a Sunday with the family
Overall a good dinner but the food was over-salted -we all (6 people) had steaks which were well cooked to order but the side dishes were too salty.

Service was prompt, polite and attentive however not to much, the menu is a little different than most places in a good way and the food was good a little heavy on the salt for me and could of just been the kitchen that particular night overall was enjoyable and won’t hesitate to return.
New Year Eve!
We ordered a french 75 and a greyhound. The french 75 didn’t taste like a french 75. I asked to have some champagne added...it was marginally better. The greyhound was ok.
I asked for a 1664 beer next to be safe. The beer was flat. It doesn’t seem like the carbonation mix was right.
This is the 3rd time I ha e gone here in the last 18 months and been disappointed. The S&L in Langley is very good, consistent. This one is not...it is disappointing as i life close by and really like the room.
Great food and great service
We ordered the porterhouse steak, as we had never had one before...it was awful and not worth the $89 they charged. It was so salty we could barely eat it, and we like salt. But this was ridiculous...the filet part was tasty and tender, but the NY strip part was awful. It was full of gristle and was so tough, along with the whole thing being so salty...the asparagus that we ordered as a side was soggy and lukewarm.. not worth the $5 they charged for the 6 soggy stalks we received. The lobster rolls were tasty but not worth the $6.75 for 2 bites worth. Fried Mac and cheese sticks were tasty.. definitely not worth the $200 plus we spent on dinner and I would not recommend this place to anyone, we advised the server of how salty the steak was as how tough, as he could tell with the amount left on the plate that we couldn’t eat due to saltiness and gristle... we were offered a desert, which we turned down... a discount would have been suffice but that was not offered...will never go back there again, a complete waste Of money.
Service and ambiance were great! But the food was definitely not up to par.... even a basic dish like the calamari. It came soggy and cold. Very unfortunate as I did have a great breakfast another time.
Great experience here, the chicken sandwich is the best I’ve ever had and my wife’s Harvest Chicken was excellent. Capers in a Caesar salad is a great touch, very rare in this market.
This is not our first visit to S & L and they come through like fine dinning should. We were greeted with a friendly hostess and given a choice of where to sit. The waitress was absolutely fantastic, very amiable. The food "filet" for both of us was just wonderful. Came before 5 pm to take advantage of their happy hours. No it's not cheap however well worth it. We will be back
Great menu here and fantastic ambiance in the south Surrey location. Though our server was good when she came around, she wasn’t nearly as attentive as she could’ve been, the overall she did not at all spoil the experience in any means. We will definitely be back!
Great atmosphere- I wish they did not remove the lamb chops from their menu
Service was slow and there were only 12 tables with diners. The music is still very loud. We sat outside and it was still loud, inside you would have to yell at your dinner partner.
Service was great. Waitress very attentive. Food lacks presentation and side options are limited unless you pay $5.00 for something else. Also need to get some colour such as fresh vegetables not only creamed corn which unappetizing .
Ok I usually love this place. This time not so much. I made the reservation 5 weeks earlier and was put in furtherest booth in a corner next to the exit door and servers’ computer.
Then we were sold 12$ cocktails that were just meh. It was also hard not to notice that all us barely finished our food. It was just different this time. The servers are friendly and the ambience is good.
Have been here many times, always a fantastic experience. Will be returning.
Food was great and the staff were attentive and friendly
Thanks so much for taking the time to offer your 5 star rating and very kind comments! We look forward to seeing you back again soon.
We had made reservations for my adult family to gather on the anniversary of the eve of my Dad’s passing but even with reservations were seated next to the washroom and the place was very empty as it was a 4 pm or rather early time. So a nicer location would have been better
The waygu beef dip was very good but the actual waygu beef dinner my brother ordered was over cooked which was such a waste. And he ordered the lobster with it which was a bit disappointing in size.
The oysters were very good. Nice and small. Drinks were good
Service was good
We had a lovely dinner there with our family. Highly recommend.
Where do I start? Waiting in the lobby for 5 minutes before someone greeted us. We got seated at the only table without a table cloth. After ordering only took 25 minutes to get breakfast and a burger which did not look very appealing. Tasted fine but disappointing. No one asked how everything was. Unfortunately this place is going downhill.

This is my favourite restaurant but I was somewhat disappointed during this visit. I was uncomfortably seated in a 3 sided booth even though the reservation was for 5 people. We were also seated next to a table that was extremely loud and disruptive. I also did not enjoy the tacos I ordered, but our server was extremely nice and that was what made the experience decent.
We had a wonderful date night. I asked that we be seated in a private area if possible which S&L was able to facilitate for us. We felt like the only two people in the restaurant. We were able to have a truly amazing and romantic anniversary dinner. The server was fantastic and friendly and our food was perfect. I would highly recommend having a meal here. We will definitely be back.
Meagan, our server was exceptional and were looking forward to returning on Saturday afternoon at 2:45
The service and food was great! Great happy hour wine!
Our only issue is that we were seated outdoors (under cover and enclosed), but we were cold...had to wear our jackets.
When we left we had to walk through the restaurant and were actually glad that we were seated outside because the music was so loud inside that we wouldn't have been able to visit.
Had to cancel a Downtown reservation last minute due to time issues and went to S+L in South Surrey. Glad we did! Both of us really enjoyed our meals - the New York steak was fabulous.
Everyone enjoyed the food except one person who had gnocchi and it wasn’t cooked. They did take it off her bill though, so that was good.
Our server was very nice, but she wasn’t very good. We had to wait a long time to order and also for dessert and the bill.
We were sitting in the patio area and it was quite chilly and had to ask 2 times for the heater to be turned on. We were disappointed that we had to sit out there, the ambiance is so nice on the inside and the patio area was quite dusty and dirty. There was two table cloths on the table, one was nice and white, the other was quite yellowed, so it looked a bit tacky.
I’ve been to S & L before and the food was good and for the most part it was good this time,
But the area we were seated in and the service weren’t good this time.
Our food was left under the heat lamp for at least 15 to 20 minutes as there was a think skim on the lobster chowder and the sour cream and creamed corn were noticeably dried out. Very disappointed.
