I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was quite good and well presented. The patio area is both charming and comfortable. Service was great. We had brunch and I have to say it was delicious... the smashed potatoes might be the best breakfast potatoes I have ever had. And seriously what’s not to love about a bucket of chicken and waffles? I look forward to going back.

Head there for the outside patio. It's amazing. Must drink are the frose and must eat are the appetizers. The biscuits and burrata were amazing! Skip the entrees and the sides, they were heavy and the favors were all very one note.

Good food. Seasonal cocktails. We order two meat and three dishes and it was enough for three people. Although they do not tell you, some of the sides come on the same plate as the main dish.

I love St Lou's on a summer day as the outdoor patio is great. But, this may be the last time I come here for lunch during the week. Second time in a row the service was incredibly, incredibly slow. It's not the place to eat if you have a job during the day to get back to. Otherwise, if you're looking to relax on a day off or take a long lunch on a Friday -- this works.

We went in with a larger sized party, and it was clear they were understaffed. It took quite some time to get our drink order. They gave us an appetizer for the wait. The food overall was just ok. i was honestly expecting a lot more. I think they need to hire some more staff as well. The inside restaurant was relatively empty so I'm not sure what the issue was on a Saturday night.

Though it was a nice evening, we had to sit inside, as the only occupied table since we got there just after a very large party had filled up the outdoor seating. No one's to blame for that, but it made the atmosphere subdued and strange. I like the restaurant concept. The buffalo fried okra was very good, as were the crispy black-eyed peas. But my entree, a "decomposed" pork stew with sous vide pork shoulder was very salty and, because of the method, the pork did not have the unctuous tenderness you normally get with pork shoulder. So, would I go back? Maybe. It didn't crack my top 10.

The food was really fun and the back portion of the restaurant that leads into an outside eating area is really cool and completely unexpected. The only challenge was the service. We initally sat inside and it seemed that we were completely forgotten.

Overall, it was okay. They accommodated our group of 8 for brunch which included small children. My biggest issue was the lack of execution of the basics. No water at the table, no silverware when the food came and the lack of urgency when we asked for said items. I'll give them another shot but this isn't the first time I've heard less than satisfactory reviews of the service.

Was SO excited to finally try Saint Lou's and was not disappointed! All the excitement happens upstairs and Moneybar, so the restaurant itself was pretty chill on a Saturday night. The food is excellent (both the specials & the regular meat-and-threes)...perfectly balances innovative flavors with traditional comfort. Plus who can resist a soft-serve sundae at the end of your meal?! We will definitely be back!

I made a reservation for 6 ppl, requesting the patio. When I arrived, I was told the patio could not be reserved. So I decided to hang on the patio until a seat opened up rather than sit inside. Once a table opened up, I asked if it was ok if I sat there. After having to ask this 3 times before I could get a response, the hostess told me i could not because it was reserved. Ummmm -- I made a reservation and you told me that the patio could not be reserved. So HOW is that table now reserved? I've been there a few times. Awesome patio, solid food/drinks. However, I've never had even remotely decent service. And my friends have all said the same in their experiences.

The vibe of this place is simple, low-key, and just enough frills to be comfortable and relaxed. Though the ambiance and vibe was laidback and understated (in a great way!), the food was anything but that. Each dish we had was full of flavor and put a different spin on some old, comfort food basics and it was done in such a way that it didn't seem overwhelming or that they were trying to hard. There's an art to finding the right combination of ingredients so that each have there part and one doesn't outshine the other. Saint Lou's has mastered that.

Super impressed by the meat and three concept, and the patty melt was killer. Great seasonal cocktails, and I think that patio may be one of the West Loop's best kept secrets.

Definitely would not go again. The manager bombarded our table when we sat down for dinner and took away the drinks we had just purchased from the bar claiming we never got them and he said he admitted to not really knowing how to check IDs but our IDs "concerned him." Our waiter then proceeded to not come to our table so after about an hour we left. Luckily after much discussion with the staff I got my money back and left. Disgusting lack of respect shown by staff. Shouldn't be serving alcohol if they can't tell a real ID and a fake one.

Great outdoor space, complete with bocce court. Recommend the meatballs, biscuit basket and seasonal cocktails. Yum. Dog-friendly as well.

Great vibe and ambiance. Love the retro feel. Food was good and hearty portions too. Service was sub-par though as we waited at least 10 mins before anyone greeted us, and I think our waitress forgot our drinks though as our food came out before them. I would go again only for the ambiance and food. They just need to improve service.

Place has a definite, old school diner feel to it. Food is better than an old school diner would serve. Place was kind of empty for lunchtime. I liked the fried okra. It was fried and had a buffalo sauce on it that was nice. The artichoke dip was ok. I had the specialty sandwich - pork on a "bun" made from plantains, and it was interesting. Pork was good, but the plantains were too crispy and tended to break apart. My friend had a Reuben and he liked it. Seemed to me that the waffle fries were thicker than normal, which I found interesting. The service was spotty. Our server was nice when I could get his attention, but it was hard to do so. I heard they have an outdoor dining area and I want to check it out.

Amazing food and drinks, but inattentive service means we won't be coming back. We needed nearly three hours to eat dinner, and we only saw our server 6 times in three hours, all but one because we flagged her down. Too bad because the menu is very unique and delicious.

it was a little disappointing. I asked for a substitution (challah roll for my curry chicken sandwich) and the server (seemed distracted) said he would have to check with the chef. the sandwich was presented with the original (marble rye) bread, without any explanation. WHen I asked about the requested substitution I got a very half-hearted reply about the sandwiched being pre-made and no substitutions were available the sandwich itself was fine, and the sides were good not much of a vibe, at least for lunch will return, in hopes of a better experience
