TL;DR: great service, food, and experience! We were visiting from out of town and had a local friend recommended Saj as their favorite Mediterranean in NOLA. It did not disappoint. We visited on a Thursday night and were greeted and received excellent service from Elena. We ordered hummus, dolmas, and the chicken paella. They were all incredibly delicious and reasonably priced for the portion and quality. We were consistently checked on with no push to rush us through our meal or time at the restaurant. We didn’t BYOB (there’s a wine bar and liquor store down the street if you forget) but saw other tables that brought white wine receive an ice bucket to chill their wine table side, a great touch! Highly recommend Saj!

This place is a hidden gem. The service was great and the food was incredible. We didn't have time to stop to get something to drink with dinner, but it did not matter in the end. I will definitely be coming back!

Great food and service! We ordered the Kufta appetizer which was incredible!! The only downside to this place is it is BYOB which we weren’t aware of but there is a liquor store nearby where other guests went to grab a bottle of wine. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Great staff, wonderful-flavorful food. Beautiful ambiance but we were having a date night and got sat next to a 10 top table so it was (a little loud) BUT the restaurant is small so that’s to be expected. Overall 10/10 experience.

Technically a 4.5 stars and the only reason for the 1/2 star deduction is they don’t serve wine/beer/alcohol. However you can BYO wine and beer as they have wine glasses if you do. Food was very good and so was the service.

We arrived at 7:08 for our 7:15 reservation on Mardi Gras night. We were not greeted and had to seek out a host. It appeared that only two wait staff were working. The restaurant had about 10 tables most of which at that time were were eating or finishing up. After being seated we were given menus and told that we’d have water shortly. After 20 minutes, I had to seek out a server to get our water and ask to place orders. One of our party wanted to order a salad due to dietary restrictions and preference, but we were informed that they had just run out of all lettuce. As nothing else appealed to our party member, we instead decided to seek another place. All the time we were there, the wait staff seemed more concerned with filling online orders than paying any attention to the diners physically in the restaurant. It was a shame as the place is beautiful and had a promising menu, but this service was terrible. They did not even make an attempt to apologize or explain when it was brought to their attention.

My husband and I throughly enjoyed the food. I ordered the fish and my husband got the house salad wiry chicken. My fish was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. The fried bread they brought was also very good.

The food was outstanding! We got the Snapper and Paella and both were deliciously seasoned. Honestly one of the best meals we've had in a long time - just as good as in the Middle East!

Cannot say enough good things about Saj. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff, welcoming and engaging. The owner and his lovely wife and daughter were a joy to talk to. Even more impressive - it was New Year’s Eve - one of the busiest nights for restaurants and they couldn’t have been more relaxed, jovial or inviting. The food was so good, when we were done, we ordered more to take home with us! Saj will go down as an ABSOLUTE highlight of our trip to NOLA! Thank you very, very much for the memories and the fantastic dining experience!

We happened upon Saj as we were looking for a restaurant opened on NYE as we just flew back into town. It was absolutely delicious. We had an assortment of various appetizers and two entrees, and everything was fabulous. The baked feta and the lamb meatballs were the favorites, but truly everything was so good. The waitress was a gem as well. Loved the fact that I could bring our own bottle of wine and coke product for those who didn’t drink. Probably our least favorite dish was the baklava cheesecake which did taste like raw cookie dough as another diner/reviewer had commented, but it was still good. Plan on definitely coming back with more family.
