Salena's Mexican Restaurant
Matt did a nice job. He was very busy.
Provided excellent service and promptly gave us our check.
We had plenty of time to get the RBTL show.
Food took a very long time to come our - restaurant was busy. Also seemed like servers were assigned too many tables - they were really running around.
Great authentic Mexican food. Friendly staff quick service
We always enjoy our meals (lunch and dinner) at Salena's. The food is fantastic, and the service is great. It gets a bit noisy when it is full, but the vibe is great.
We had a neighborhood ladies night and it was the perfect choice! Great service - our waitress was the best - great suggestions and very accommodating. Food was great, environment was fun and we had a perfect night.
Came from Buffalo to Rochester for a concert at the armory. Had a little trouble locating but once we found it enjoyed it thoroughly. Location let us walk to Armory. Our server Maggie was wonderful. Lots of leftovers. Would return if we were coming back to the venue.
Great service and great food. Starting from the minute we walked in and sat at the bar for a few drinks before our reservation, then at our table for dinner.
Food was outstanding! Great service.
Would prefer to have margarita served in something other than a rocks glass.
It was tasty, but small.
We were very pleased with our visit to Salenas. I've been there before when its been quite noisy, so going during a non-peak time helped a lot. I was most amazed by how attentive they were with my rambunctious 5 year old. There was a nice variety of kids activities and they even gave him extra to take home which was very generous. One of the waitresses noticed my son getting stir crazy and came over to give him some attention and provide a way for him to take his unfinished meal home. It turned out to be a great place for our whole family to go out for dinner!
drinks are expensive for quality of liquor they have in there. Certainly not enough or watered down liquor. I write I would recommend to a friend because the food is very good. $40 for one person seems to be a lot to me anyway.
I really enjoy going to Salena’s before going to the RBTL.
We went before seeing the Book of Mormons.
We both had the Avocado salad. It was delicious.
We enjoyed a glass of red wine.
Ashley’s service was spot on. Professional, polite, and lots of fun.
We were finished, with plenty of time to walk to the show.
Well done Salena’s.
Drinks were weak and expensive-I’ve never had a margarita in a whiskey glass before! Waitress was rude! Food had no taste! Very loud !
Food was good!! It was very busy so lots of noise, but that’s normal. Our server Hannah wasn’t very friendly but did her job just fine.
We have eaten at Salena's before but this past Saturday was the best! Great drinks, the food was amazing & the service was impeccable! Try the wings - best we have ever had! We will be back.
We were having dinner at Salena's before going to the theater. We had a reservation, and taken to our table immediately. Service was efficient, but not rushed. The food was excellent. Will definitely come again.
It was good; but, it is more like a school cafe kind of food. The food it good for sure; but, not the same high standard and quality as the other restaurants around Village Gate, like Gate House. Was expecting something special. There is nothing that makes me say yes I have to come back again. I don't know if the way they make their food makes it mediocre or that is how the food suppose to be? I had chicken mole; but, the chicken wasn't as juicy like a high end restaurant's chicken breasts. The rice was not as fluffy like a high end restaurant's rices. Perhaps my expectation was pretty high since restaurants at Village Gate have pretty high standard and food quality.
Great service and welcoming to all age groups including families with young children, older couples and groups of young people. Our visit was very enjoyable.
First time here. Food was delicious and the service was great. It was a packed house
Our waitress was awesome very personable and attentive
We were on date. We had a 5:00 PM reservation. We were going to The RBTL Show Donna Summers. We needed to be out by 6:00 PM to make the show.
We were warmly welcomed by the host.
Our server Rinaldo was gracious, professional, and efficient.
We both had the Avocado salad 1 with chicken and one with Steak. Both were absolutely delicious.
We were done by 5:45 PM plenty of time to make the show.
Can not wait to return.
Thanks so much Salena’s
Our second visit here, and again for a birthday celebration - this time mine! The waiter was friendly and the staff were attentive. The food was delicious, just as it was the first time I was here. We will be back again, someday!
I have been here many times and my family really enjoys it. I usually get the same thing, shrimp fajitas, but this last time I was disappointed. First it did not come out on the sizzling hot tray and it had about 6 very thin small strip of peppers. I'm used to an abundance of large strips onions and peppers. Maybe a new cook, not sure. The lights were super bright because the people that came and sat at the table next to us couldn't see, which I know is not their fault, so the lights went on full blast right above the table. Other than those two things, all was good!
It was very busy on Saturday night and our server was incredibly attentive as if we were her only customers and we were not! She was great We were a party of 9 celebrating our daughters birthday and she was amazing! Thank you.
We are from Texas, so we know good Mexican food. With that said, we’ve learned not to expect much in the way of Mexican food up north. This place was just way below expectations. We always order queso if it’s on the menu, which it was here. It never came. 10 minutes after we ordered, our food came out, so I said to our waiter did you forget our queso? He apologized and said he did and would bring some out free of charge but at that point we didn’t really want anymore since our food arrived. I had a tostada in enchilada. I toast it was served on top of the rice which made it very hard to eat without eating the rice, which I didn’t really want. My husband got some kind of chicken enchiladas and he said they were probably the worst he’s ever had. Would definitely not recommend.
good food. good value. great service !
we definitely will book a reservation again.
Salinas is always fun to go to because it’s vibrant and cozy at the same time. We ate outside even though it was a little bit cool. So glad we did because we saw a group of people doing Latin dancing - so much fun! Servers were attentive and the food was great!
The food and service are always great and the Margarita's are awesome
I have been to Salena’s numerous times. The food is always good. This time the service was not very good. Our food took forever to come out.
Amazing food, drinks and staff! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
I usually love Salena's. But my experience was not great. The salsa was not good, our food was luke warm and not of good quality.
My wife and I with two other couples, had a great dining experience at Salena’s on this Saturday night in August. The service was excellent from the greeting of the maitre de to the polite and friendly waitress and jovial young men bringing out our hot and delicious entrees all in a well coordinated manner. My Drunken Shrimp Tacos were delightfully tasty with just the right amount of Mexican spices, cotijo cheese and accompanying black beans and warm corn tortillas as only Salena’s serves them.
Everyone at our table was very pleased with the food, drinks and congenial service. We didn’t get to sit outside on a beautiful summer night and that was the only draw back.
Otherwise it would have been 5 stars across the board.
My food was salty and my friend asked about an item on the menu and the waitress had a hard time answering the question
The food was amazing. Shrimp and fish tacos hit it out of the park. Thanks for the special request. And our server was spot on...
Good food and ambiance, staff was very attentive and a lot of food for a lower price
The restaurant is too loud. They don't have any Taco Tuesday specials unless sitting at the bar and food was just ok. My daughter's drink had fruit in it by design but the fruit still had the bar code sticker on it.
Great place for a family to get together. Great food at an affordable price!
Authentic Mexican cuisine in fun setting. Love. Love. Love.
We always love coming to Salena's! Was really nice to have a coupon for our last visit where we could buy 2 margaritas & get an appetizer for free. The margaritas themselves are always amazing & we're big fans of the food as well. We also love how practically the moment we sit down someone brings us waters & chips and salsa immediately! Highly recommended 😀
Everything was fantastic except for a busboy who went to clean a table and shook his dishcloth my way, spraying myself and my drink with dirty water. I debated ordering a new drink. Overall, the waitress was great and so is the restaurant
We used to love Selena’s but it has definitely gone downhill over the past few years. The chips and salsa used to be home made and unique - but now very bland.
The enchiladas were dry. The “ice cream” scoop of dry retried beans was awful and the rice was a tasteless afterthought.
On top of that, the service was very slow (35 minutes to get our food) and the bill was incorrect (we were overcharged).
I used to love their authentic margaritas, but they have even changed this recipe, so they taste much more like chain restaurant margaritas.
I hope the owners can reverse this trend. Otherwise, we will be looking for a different Mexican restaurant in Rochester.
