Josh, our server was attentive and fast! Food came out quickly and was delicious as usual.
The food was so authentic will return again.
Love this Restaurant. Salena’s go to Restaurant before RBTL.
Service spit on, Hanna did a great job.
I should go more often.
Great food for special lunch date with my kids!
My family, including three kids, ages 3 to 10, dined here for the first time, after visiting the Strong Museum. I made a note to our reservation that my son was anaphylactic to peanuts and tree nuts. The hostess at the front was super attentive to my son’s allergy and warned us to stay away from the mole sauce. She also made sure the kitchen and our server knew about it. From that moment, I knew we were going to have an amazing experience at this charming restaurant!
The food is very delicious and fresh. I ordered the stuffed avocados and it was incredibly tasty and super filling! My husband ordered the steak tacos and the meat was cooked a perfect medium rare. It was tender and very delicious. My son had the beef and bean burrito with a side of rice and could only eat about half of it. Positions are very large, even for the kids menu. My daughters shared a kids cheese quesadilla meal with rice. It was the perfect amount for them to split. We didn’t know until we received our bill that kids eat free on Sundays, so that was a pleasant surprise!
Our server was super friendly, however since it was a very busy evening, we waited a while to get her attention most times. However, it didn’t ruin our experience. She was so nice and helpful. The food took a while to come out, but it was worth the wait! We would definitely dine here again, the next time we visit Rochester. Thanks so much for a great experience!
This was our second time at the restaurant. I give it a pretty good rating the only thing I would say about the most recent visit is the two seater table that we were set at was kind of in the way of other things going on. So we did feel like we were kind of in the way at times.
Overall very good experience as usual. Service was outstanding.
Our servers were energetic and friendly, and seemed really dedicated to us having a great experience. The food as always was fresh, colorful and delish! We have been going here for a while, and have had no bad food. Spiciness wasn’t manageable. We will certainly eat here again.
Reservation for 6:30pm , seated right away.
Prompt and friendly service .
Food very good.
Terrific food with great service and decent prices
My go to pick before RBTL. Anastasia was very good. But I think I enjoyed the meal better.
Fun, great food and service.
We were seated right away, had water on the table before we even sat down and service was fast food was great.
Great customer service and food! Always feel welcomed when I visit and enjoy the experience.
It was a terrible night from the table in the waiting area, 1/2 hour wait for drinks, an additional 1 hour wait for food . Two children were starving for our food. Several of the meals were cold and tasted like they had bee warmed up in the microwave. The only saving grace after several complaints to both our server and the manager was that the entire bill was complemented. Just a family birthday celebration to remember for the wrong reason.
We salvaged the evening by going across the courtyard to The Gatehouse for desert and coffee. Everything was excellent. They even have the birthday celebrant a free dessert.
Great spot before the theater. Fresh, delicious food & drinks, great waitstaff, and fun, vibrant vibe.
Great food! Always consistent!
Great pre-theatre meal
The food was not good at all and far from authentic.
Salena's is our "go-to" restaurant before seeing a show at the Auditorium Theatre. The food is always great and the people are friendly.
Love the food and atmosphere! This is the perfect place to go before seeing a show at the auditorium - but my recommendation is to make sure you have a reservation!
Wrong meat came in burrito. They forgot to give the sour cream and quac.
Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive! It was a ladies night and she had fun right along with us. The food was great and everyone left satisfied.
Always very good, consistent quality and attentive service. Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Rochester. And really good house Margaritas, too!
Food was mediocre at best. I'm from Texas so know good Mexican food and this was not. First, chips were burned/overdone, something that would never happen in a good Tex-Mex restaurant down south. Second, guac is the staple so if you don't get that right, figure the rest of the meal isn't going to be good. Their guac was pasty &tasteless. Service on a busy night adequate, but I don't need to ever go back.
Great food, friendly service; a little noisy, but it was a Saturday with a show at the Auditorium.
This place is amazing. I went there to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The music was great and it was a great vibe overall. Not too noisy, it was just right. The food was so good. The drinks were perfect as well. The service was okay, not the best but I’m not gonna complain because the night was fun. What I love about this place is they are not cheap with the amount of food they give you. My plate was huge. Definitely recommend going there. You won’t be disappointed.
We had a delicious meal, as always. Our server was great. We love Selena's.
Had wanted to go for years but never had opportunity. Finally took wife on date night. Decor was not what I expected. I guess my assumption that because of its location at Village Gate that it was an upscale Mexican restaurant was terribly wrong. Reminded me of a cheap taco joint with a bar. I ordered chimichanga. It came totally dry with no mention of any sauce options. Flavor was okay but dry. However, my wife's burrito was cold and flavorless. For a couple folks that come out of Wayne County that has some authentic Mexican food, this was a bust. Will never go back there again. Oh, however, our waiter, Rinaldo, did an awesome job. Pleasant, courteous young man.
Very kid friendly - especially for the holidays. Desert for the kids was cookie decorating and they even had a present for each one on the way out.
It was a very pleasant dinner and everyone enjoyed it.
Background music was non-descript - should have been Mexican.
The service was great as was the food. We really enjoyed the place
Matt did a nice job. He was very busy.
Provided excellent service and promptly gave us our check.
We had plenty of time to get the RBTL show.
Food took a very long time to come our - restaurant was busy. Also seemed like servers were assigned too many tables - they were really running around.
Great authentic Mexican food. Friendly staff quick service
Excellent experience. Food was very good and our server was top notch. We were taken very good care of, even though it was very biayy
We always enjoy our meals (lunch and dinner) at Salena's. The food is fantastic, and the service is great. It gets a bit noisy when it is full, but the vibe is great.
We had a neighborhood ladies night and it was the perfect choice! Great service - our waitress was the best - great suggestions and very accommodating. Food was great, environment was fun and we had a perfect night.
Came from Buffalo to Rochester for a concert at the armory. Had a little trouble locating but once we found it enjoyed it thoroughly. Location let us walk to Armory. Our server Maggie was wonderful. Lots of leftovers. Would return if we were coming back to the venue.
Great service and great food. Starting from the minute we walked in and sat at the bar for a few drinks before our reservation, then at our table for dinner.
Food was outstanding! Great service.
Would prefer to have margarita served in something other than a rocks glass.
It was tasty, but small.
