The atmosphere is good, but we were placed right by the patio door and the draft was cold, we moved tables, but the ac was blowing pretty cold air there too. The tuna dish was tasty, but the rice cake heavy and rather tasteless.

Pros: Beautiful restaurant! Interior is stunning, the patio looks beautiful. The menu looked really good, something for everyone. Server was very very nice! Cons: Bring your patience, service is very very very slow. Water and coffees sat empty during our brunch. Manager/supervisor walking around watching our group sit staring around for our server and not coming over to check in on us was……strange.

The service was impeccable, friendly and fast. As busy as it was, we felt well taken care of It was a little on the loud side, which made having a conversation a little challenging Food was good, but felt like we were paying more for the experience? Overall it was a good time, and will probably go back again

First time in town, my intention was to get a tast of Halifax. The ratings on OpenTable led through to this restaurant, I didn’t care that it was not listed as upscale, but let me tell you, this restaurant is by all means high class. The service the ambiance the food the taste the music-though little loud- is just right on. Hard to find better service better ambiance and better food around the world, and I’ve been around. Loren, the waitress from Ontario was so professional and friendly and it’s hard to forget her smiling face. The check was so modest for this high quality dishes I would pay double what I payed with a smile of content on my face. Five deserved stars.

I booked this place thinking it was an upscale restaurant. I am travelling from Ontario and had invited all my guests for my birthday here last night. After being seated 35 mins passed and no one had even offered us water so I had to go in and ask myself. Took another 10 mins to hunt our server down to take our drink order. After that we were struggling to get the servers attention to get cutlery- in the end gave up and just Took cutlery from the next table. I did bring this up to the server and let her know how embarrassing it was for me to have all my guests here for my party and get such horrible service. Finally one last time literally had to go hunt our server down and ask for a bill. When the bill came I asked about somethings that were missing on the bill and the server said oh yeah took them off cause of the bad service. Did not even talk about it and take accountability- it takes a little chat to just say “hey sorry it’s a hard day here today we took off your apps for the bad service” Honestly I don’t know how this place is surviving in today’s competitive market. We will not be returning and will advise against it. The server who served us was horribly overworked did not smile once and was so irritated the entire time.

Mallory was amazing, I would happily be served by her all the time! She knew the menu, was insightful, helpful and a joy to have small talk with. BINGO was a great addition! Great prizes for free entry on a Sunday night, brought a great crowd.

Very happening spot on the Harbourfront. Easy access, close to the casino, nice decor. Noise level loud for a Sunday evening, couldn't hear the music. Pizza tasty but undercooked, they kindly removed it from the tab. Seared tuna was amazing. Service okay.

The service was good but the place was very crowded and not enough room between tables for servers or patrons to walk between. The restaurant was so loud that I could not have a conversation with my husband across a very small table for two. As per his apple watch the place had an average of 88-90 decibels. The food was mediocre and not as flavourful as I had expected from the smells outside. Wish I had gone to Cafe Lunette instead.

We really wanted to love this experience. Our table even though reserved, was beside the server station with servers squeezing by us every few minutes on what seemed like a super busy night. We love a good vibe but the noise level was almost too much for even normal conversation (maybe it was just the location of our table.) Unfortunately, the scallops seemed to be undercooked and did cause a little stomach upset - the other dishes were great. Would definitely give it another chance but be more vocal about concerns.

Food was over cooked, almost burnt. Clear that they deep-fried the bacon and pepperoni, meatloaf and eggs were dry and tasteless. Despite ordering a very expensive bottle of Moet champagne, I had to ask where it was after approximately 15 minutes, then they arrived with wine glasses. Seriously? It’s CHAMPAGNE. Service was extremely slow, however our server was very pleasant. Probably the worst dining experience in a long time and will not return.

This is my second time at Salt and Ash and was so disappointed with my meal. The first time I was there, 2 weeks ago I had the fish and chips and it was the best I have ever had. My husband and I had a great experience. Last night I brought my daughter in for dinner and ordered fish and chips again. This time the fish batter was over cooked and I ended up just eating the fish inside and left the batter on the side as it was too hard to enjoy.my daughter ordered the flank steak with fries. Unfortunately the fries were on top of a bed of sautéed shallots causing many of the fries to be soggy. It was an unfortunate experience in light of the great food we had the first time and I do hope it is a one off.

My best friend and I celebrated her birthday, our first time to the restaurant and it was incredible. From the moment you enter the ambience and aesthetic is so breathtaking, the staff were so friendly and polite. The food was fresh, tasty and affordable. It was salty and ashy! We tried 3 appetizers and they came immediately. Ordered our meals and they came faster than the drinks! Lively place. Beautiful decor and interior. Great ambiance. Would love to sit closer to the open fire grill where the chefs are next time. Definitely taking my partner here!
