Salty's Beach House
energetic atmosphere in our second floor bar, the Black Pearl, and an exciting family experience in the dining room and lower lounge. We don't allow minors in the Upstairs Lounge after 5:00 pm and to please indicate if you have minors in your party.
Haven't been to Salty's for a while, because of the reno and in summer it's too crowded. We were there for a Valentine's Day dinner and the place was somewhat forlorn because of cancellations due to the fresh snow and the unusually cold weather. We got easily a table we asked for upstairs with a lake view and the SS Sicamous glowing in the dark. The noise was also somewhat muted, without the usual sports bar atmosphere. There was a special Valentine's menu which was not advertised on their website, so we ordered off the regular menu. The food was excellent - we shared crab cakes and a seafood stew in coconut curry over rice with really fresh vegetables. Then we made the mistake of ordering two desserts which were enormous, so we could only eat the peanut-encrusted ice cream cake and the chocolate mousse which is still in our fridge while we recover. All the staff was nice and we were lucky to be served by an exceptional young man, Luke, who was knowledgeable about the menu and very personable. We enjoyed our special occasion at Salty's.
Love this place!! The prawn ceviche wasn’t up to par as it usually is, but the oysters were unbelievabley delicious, so they made up for it. I will be back, still my fav restaurant
Really love the new Salty’s Reno’s - was quite busy for a Saturday night off season which is great! Although it was busy, our server was excellent, very attentive, efficient & friendly. Food came out at a nice pace - appies & cocktails followed by mains. Everything was delicious & excellent value for the price.
Unique menu. Highly recommend. Generous servings. The BAHAMA island appie pizza was delicious. The mussels are a must! Love the crab cakes and clam chowder.
Others in our party really enjoyed their butter chicken and fish tacos.
Going back to dine here next time we are in Penticton. The chef here has created some outstanding dishes !
Because it is not very often when we go out it is important that we really are happy with the restaurant or we just will go some where else. The service was good, my suggestion would be always compliment the customer, she asked what the occasion was that we were out but when I did not have a response right away or the look on my face did not suggest something positive here response was something negative about me for the look on my face. Again, people just want to be complimented. She could have said any of a number of things that would have been better. I love their calamari and it was great, I had the seafood chowder and the sea food was great but the base was blah, no flavour. Love the view, would be better to still have a choice to sit up stairs, we were told it was closed.
Great dinner place. great staff, nice choice on wine list. only complaint is dessert menu needs major redo but we knew that from before. Great place for a birthday celebration. Thanks to the staff for making it fun!
Great seafoods and fish & chips. Casual. Fast service!
The hostess put us at a table out side in the rain ,had to ask to be moved after getting a new table our server was just a delightful young lady,we both ordered the pad tye both had a completely different taste mine had just way to much ketchup and you could taste nothing else the other was just overloaded with celantro, the manager was very professional in trying to fix the problem and her efforts were appreciated in the meantime the hostess at a table across from us was standing running her fingers through a patrons hair who was eating ,not so professional, We were offered a gift certificate to come back which we refused as it was not our intention to get free food .
I would give Salty's an extra half star if it was an option. The Fisherman's Pot was delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly.
Great oysters and the Fisherman's pot was excellent. Loved the Chocolate bomb desert too!
We have enjoyed Salty’s in the past but last Saturday we were turned away because it was too busy. We made a reservation for the next evening (Sunday). We asked to sit in an empty booth but were told it was reserved (there was no reserved sign). The wine list was small and more expensive than we remembered it. We ordered two glasses anyway. I ordered a Tai noodle salad that was basically a bunch of ripped up lettuce with a few pieces of chicken thrown in. My husband ordered the Rasta Pasta with prawns. It tasted fine but the noodles were harder than they should be. There was no bread that should come with a pasta dish - how cheap! When we asked for some bread we received a $5 garlic bread. This was one of the worst meals we have had In Penticton. We are patrons that visit restaurants frequently and in offseason. Salty’s will no longer be one of them. They are obviously trying to maximize their profits on the backs of their patrons.
Great menu choices, reasonable prices, gpod good & great staff. Best penut better pie..ever! An all around wonderful casual dining experience.
Excellent food and service. Not sure how the ambience might be on a busy summer evening, but we were seated on the front patio under the heat lamps. Great view of the beach and quiet enough to chat.
Great food quick service made reservations found prepared table waiting for us
Food was good.. my wine was off though.. it was Friday night, so busy.. a bit loud..but overall a good experience.
The only gripe was the table we where placed at was right by the door and it was very chilly and windy every time it was opened. They moved us to another table which was even colder. We ended up sitting outside , and only half the fire was working. Thank goodness the food was good.
We dined 7:30 on a Sunday in early Sept. surprised that the majority of guests seemed to think they were in a club, not restaurant. Food and service was great though
The food was great. The atmosphere was fun with live sports to watch. Waitress was very friendly and gave us wonderful service. The only complaint would be that I reserved a standard table days in advanced and was told by the hostess they didn't have any when we arrived. After complaining, we were given a standard table that was for someone else and told we'd have to be finished in 1 hour. Well we were longer than an hour so it all worked out.
disappointed that no burgers were available even though listed on the menu
Had a great view of Okanagan Lake. There was a top seating so you can see the lake
Service was great. The menu offered variety of foods.
We had the Steak N’awlins ( steak and prawns with remoulade sauce and the Pistachio Mahi Mahi which were delicious. For the appetizer it was Calamari with green beans, jalapeños, and peppers coated in a seasoned batter served with a green onion dipping sauce.
The fish and chips that my wife ordered we all dough and little fish and it was very salty, no pun intended. The Pad Thai was okay but there was more Tofu than chicken or shrimp. We were excited to celebrate our anniversery there but it was a bust. THe waitress was nice enough but the attentiveness and service was poor. 10 minutes to wait for a drink when the bar is within view is not acceptable as it was not that busy when we were there.
Despite having reservations we were taken to crap table way in the back & had mediocre service for overpriced food. I’ll pass next time.
Had dinner with some friends over long weekend. Food was great and service was good as well. Wel diffidently be going again.
We booked a reservation (admittedly only about 2 hours prior) on TripAdvisor and they sat us way at the back by the washrooms even though other tables near the front were unused. Seems like they keep the undesirable tables open for on-line bookings so bear that in mind when making a reservation. Otherwise food, service and value were all great, as usual.
Food was disappointing. Cajun chicken salad had quinoa that tasted off and the chicken breast was cooked with the skin which was not stated on the menu and made it inedible for me.
Mix up on the reservation. Crabcakes OK. Worst fish and chicken tacos I ever ate. Served chocolate cake with large tablespoons instead of forks. Noisy
Usual great service was not present. Had to ask a manger if we had a server after waiting 10mins without greeting. I don't blame the server on that - she didn't know we were her table and she was very nice. Did not get the upstairs as per reservation on open table... I did go upstairs to see and it was not busy, I juat don't think it was even noticed.
Was very disappointed with the table held for us. Would not recommend reservation.
Awesome place every time. Definitely use open table to reserve on friday and sat nights!
Food was amazing! Service left a lot to be desired. We have been visiting Saltys annually while on vacation for many years. The food is always stellar. Good gluten free options also and a kids menu. The service was very slow. We were not in a hurry but drinks super slow, no water when asked, appies come with no side plates (we had to ask for them when we finally were able to flag someone down), no extra napkins etc. The server was friendly but she had too many tables maybe. 5 stars for the food!
The vibe is cool but food was average at best. Can’t say for certain but someone in our party was sick all night, was probably the mussels. But even minus that, no one was impressed with their meal!
We use to come to Salty's every year for about ten years for our anniversary, life get really busy and we haven't been there for about six years , well we were both very pleasantly surprised by the food the service and the amazing time we had . Our server was fabulous, we will definitely be back again sooner rather then later. Thanks for make this years anniversary perfect.

The service was great, our server Colin was warm, friendly and attentive. The menu has a lot of options as well as the drink menu- our favourite was the boat drinks :) Our 2 and 6 year old enjoyed it and for right in.
We booked "High Top" looking for a table on the second level and ended up in the noisy kids zone. When we asked to move they said we'd have to wait in line!!!!! and could be up to 45 minute wait. Not what we were expecting. Food and service was great, just very noisy where we were seated.
The place is nice thought a wee bit noisy. I asked for the gluten friendly option of the Thai salad which was provided with an indian curry type salad dressing which is not even close to a thai peanut sauce. It would have been for the server to say it was an indian curry replacement as I would have ordered another meal. The oysters were delicious as was the pad thai that the other people in my party did enjoy.
We were lucky to get a table outside- reservations are strongly recommended as always busy. Food all had a bit of a kick, even pulled pork poutine which was unexpected. Our waitress was amazing and helped to make our meal very special.
Best food & service we've experienced in a long time. We had an early supper to avoid the rush.
We try to come back every year to have a meal at Salty’s. We love the atmosphere, the view and mostly the food and drinks. See you next year.
Food was delicious. We were seated right beside the line up to get in so we felt we were being watched by everyone but all in all, pretty good.
Fun atmosphere, nice patio
The food was great especially the fisherman’s pot
Definitely recommend you try it service was excellent
