Outstanding, fresh Italian fare with some interesting twists. Wait staff really hustles and yet one doesn’t feel rushed. Great for before or after Cubs games.
Our server Grace was awesome! The food was great as usual. We will definitely be back!
Disappointed. Previously food was very good. This time average at best. Salad swimming in dressing. Fresh sea bass didn’t taste fresh! Risotto salty. Very disappointing. Service was good tho
Hands down my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Each meal is made with love & every employee truly cares about the dining experience. I cannot wait until I'm back again for a creative dish by Chef Tony!
We love this place! Ask for server Gia is terrific!!!
Molto bene! We went to Sapori Trattoria after not having been for years . Now I'm wondering why we hadn't been back soon. It was quite busy but we had reservations and we only waited a very short time for our table. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, so it was relatively quiet and had a nice ambiance. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. My husband had the grilled calamari which he said was delicious. I had the crostini di avocado and it was OK but wouldn't order again. Our main courses were outstanding! I had the sea bass, which was fresh and so well prepared, full of flavor. My husband had the veal osso buco served over lasagna and he raved. The wine list isn't huge but has a decent selection and the offerings are good values. We had a lovely Montepulciano. We were far too full for dessert. We will not wait years for our next visit!
An absolutely delightful dining experience....in every way! We hosted out of town friends who enjoy their fine dining. And so, we brought them to Sapporo and they came away very, very impressed! Each of them complemented your fine restaurant and it’s delicious food and wine, the superb service provided to us by Peter, and the overall atmosphere!Bravo!! We will be back:)🍷
Amazing food, nice staff - a little loud for a date night but great for families/group. Glad we tried it while traveling in Chicago.
I told the restaurant that it was for my husband’s birthday and please make it special. They printed happy birthday on the menu and spelt the name wrong. They promised that there will be a special something at the end of the meal - we kept waiting for it and the check arrived and we cleared it and they said thank you - and we left. Nothing happened! It was an embarrassment as I asked my husband to wait for his special surprise!
We do not live in Chicago, but have gone to Sapori several times over the years while visiting family/friends in the Chicago area. The food is excellent, the staff is amazing and the ambiance is comfortable. You do not have to be dressed up to enjoy this restaurant. We recently came with some friends from out-of-state and they were very impressed with their menu choices and dining experience! Fantastic!
Great meal and wonderful service.
Excellent food- we had the brussel sprouts salad as a starter, enough for 4 to share.
Warm bread and butter - the server seemed to be new, so a bit disorganized but it was fine as we were not in a hurry.
Our table had the rigatoni with added sausage- others in our party added or substituted items and this was no problem at all for the kitchen!
Be forewarned- this is a restaurant on the smaller side in Lakeview, so tables are on top of each other in some spots and there seems to be one restroom for the whole restaurant... (it is an older building)
However, they always serve fresh from the kitchen Italian and it was sweet that an added touch was personalized menus for a birthday that was being celebrated.
Always a go to!
We love this place. My wife asked for off the menu chicken parmigiana with vegetables on the side and they made it for her.
We go at least every quarter and need to drive 45 from the suburbs!!
Great location and setting! Grilled calamari and lamb were not tasty - calamari was over cooked and drowned in sauce, which was surprising since the dish description said a touch of balsamic. That would have been fine with me but the sauce was also not good. Lamb was better but was not cooked medium rare as requested.
Server was very nice but took several times to remember our orders. Atmosphere was noisy though that was mostly due to a larger table of 8 in the back.
Always a great spot! Delicious food and good service
I have been wanting to try this restaurant forever, and was so glad we did! I have heard amazing reviews from lots of my friends, and it was great Italian food. I ordered the carbonara and my boyfriend got the lobster ravioli. Both were awesome, but the carbonara was definitely our favorite! We were a little wary of ordering such a basic Italian dish, but it was amazing. I ate way too much and was in a food coma for the rest of the evening, but I'm not mad about it. It was a lot louder/crowded/less romantic than I expected, but the food made up for it and our waitress was great! She was very knowledgeable on the menu and Italian cuisine in general. I'd definitely go back, but next time I'll set aside half for leftovers :).
Exceptional daily special butternut squash burnt butter w crispy sage n pine nuts...
Great old house ambiance but very loud, to the point it’s hard to converse
This place is great. Has authentic, fresh made food.
Excellent food and fabulous service. We have been enjoying Sapori for years and Sapori never disappoints! It's at the top of our favorite restaurants!
Fantastic service and food. Second time we have been there. Might be the best Lasagna in the city and/or state. Will be back.
Great neighborhood Italian. Always a favorite
Favorites: Calamari, lobster ravioli, pancetta fettucine, meat lasagna and tiramisu! Waiters are attentive and nice. Mark ran down the stairs in panic to return my camera to me. Awesome guy! Table 502. Thank you so much to the owner and matre d's for your generosity in gifting my spouse a birthday dessert platter for all 5 of us to enjoy. All were delicious!
Sapori is my favorite Italian restaurant I’m Chicago. And there are a lot of options here! Fantastic atmosphere, food, and service. Always.
Great dinner - very busy place, yet quite noisy. This was a 30th birthday celebration. Osso Buco was outstanding
Amazing every time.
Anthony out did himself again
The food was delicious. Mussels in red sauce was fantastic, as was the fried calamari. Sea Bass and Veal Ossobucco was amazing. Good wine list.
Food was delicious with lots of things to choose from.
Awesome experience all around. Be nice to the host and servers and they will treat you extra special!
Amazing food and big portions! The atmosphere is fantastic and the service was great! The gnocchi dish was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to be back!
We have been here multiple times for dinner and love this place, but had yet to try out the live jazz and tapas on Tuesday nights. It was our five year anniversary and we were not disappointed with the meal. The jazz was a good volume, and the tapas, like all the food we have had at Sapori, was phenomenal. The Milk and Honey Ribs are my new favorite dish!
We were surprised given prior ratings. Very mediocre on all measurements of quality.
An AMAZING place to visit. I was meeting with friends who live in Chicago ( I live in MN), and they highly recommended this place! We all decided to go and would definitely come back! The portions are HUGE and perfect to share. The waitstaff was amazing and the whole vibe of the place was so authentic. Would recommend as a date night spot!
Sapori was great as always. What a local gem! Food and service are always outstanding.
Always a great experience at Sapori. The food is fantastic, service is great and patio is phenomenal! We had the avocado bruschetta, gamberoni e broccoli and rigatoni barese. Will continue to return and encourage anyone and everyone to do the same.
One of the best, and most likely the best, Italian home cooked style restaurant in Chicago.
The pasta is mostly home made and comes in generous portions . This time our party of four enjoyed - 2 lasagna one with meat and one with mushrooms, and Penna with sea food , and one Cappellacci All'aragosta.
Outdoor seating is fun and service is excellent.
I have loved this restaurant for 12 years! Our neighborhood go to.
Double date. We hardly could have a conversation; it was very loud. Wish we sat in a different room (we were in the first one).
