The food was mediocre at best. The chicken tasted like fish and the ribs were overcooked. Both came with a minuscule serving of vegetables and looked like they had been re-heated more than once.
The physical space is very pretty, classy-romantic, and very clean. The server was quite friendly and responsive. Kale chips were a tasty start. Out of the four meals ordered, two were warm to cold (fish was, at best, warm, potatoes with steak were cold), one pastahad a very heavy, rich sauce (tasty but too much sauce for the type of pasta . . . could have been mentioned). One pasta was tasty. Menus were on photocopied paper (at least use scissors to cut) (I get it if in Italy as the menus are prepared daily). By the way, on a Friday night at 7, we were the only ones in the restaurant until a second table joined at 7:30. Strange, as this took away from what one would have thought would have been a fun place to be and celebrate the occasion by the website and the appearance. I would try again, but I was a visitor to the city and with so many options, I will try another place. Too bad, I really wanted to like this place! (Must add that the server did bring out a complimentary dessert for the occasion, kudos for the nice touch!)
Sassi is just an awesome place with the best owners! The servers are engaging and experienced. It seems fancy inside, and it is beautiful, but it’s a very causal atmosphere so don’t let that make u feel like it’s special occasion place because it’s not. It’s super fun and the food is terrific! GO!
Food was delicious. The space is beautiful and the owner who served us was wonderful. All five of us loved our dishes. I’m surprised this place isn’t full every day of the week.
Food was exceptional! I order aranchini every time I see it on a menu and Sassi's aranchini is my favourite to date! The pasta's are also amazing, and the drink selection is great! The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with lots of natural lighting, in a great spot to head over to many of 4th Street's other great places. Will definitely be coming here again!
Wow what a classy place! So clean modern great ambiance and awesome staff with fantastic selections from drinks to apps to entrees!! Thank you SASSI
Great food and atmosphere.
I Love this place. Good Food and Great service from Mary and Chris. I highly recommend this place.
I love that it decor and ambience, you are definitely transported out of Calgary. Great food as well, worth the price.
Food was unseasoned and was not worth the money. Service was good. Ambiance was alright.
Great service, Terrible food! Not worth the $$
Food, service, & ambience perfect Attention to customer experience was impeccable. Grateful.
The restaurant is decorated really nice has very nice accents of black everywhere. We went for a brunch to celebrate our friends pregnancy, there was no pressure from the servers to get us out early as its not to busy on Sundays. But we did bring cookies for our friend as a cute gesture (we had 3 cookies in total) we were told if we placed the cookies out we would have to pay a cake cutting fee! which seemed odd as we weren't requiring any service or help with the cookies. I guess we should of called in advance, but we didn't think 3 cookies was a big deal... Otherwise brunch was good.
Not good food , but very nice decor . Would not recommend unless you are fine with not good Food.
Space is lovely.
Food was good, but overpriced, by 10-20%.
Staff were great!
Way too expensive! Only one other table there, seemed weird it was so quiet but it was over priced for small dishes we got.
The food was average. Nothing special and For the price $$ not worth it. The restaurant looks nice n service is good.
Great service! Couldn’t say enough about the staff and the food was incredible
A sad brunch. A few items not the menu for those who indulged on their Sat evening but otherwise a total miss... seriously not even an avocado toast! Such a great venue, I WISH they would invest in their Sun brunch. Ps- heard chef ask twice about my order (how to q's), one out of the 2 other tables got flat soda, and the balloon floating in the dining area has been there "a few weeks" according to the waitress
The decor is beautiful. Ambience and service were amazing. Sadly the good did not live up to the rest. We will certainly try again. Hopefully the food will be better next time.
Food was awful
A little beyond my budget for regular dining but nice for special occasion. Food was excellent and the staff were above and beyond friendly. The atmosphere is the best I’ve seen. Will be back!
Terrific food and service. Will be back soon and will certainly recommend to friends.
Lamb lollipops were awesome and the butter cake was to die for!
We met Mary the owner and she is lovely. I was impressed with the menu and that everything is made fresh. The bacon dates were outstanding as an appetizer. What a fantastic restaurant.
We had a great time. Our server was really good and knowledgeable. 3 of us had the Ozo Buko, we found it a little salty but other than everything was great. I would totally return to this restaurant. We took some wonderful pictures, the restaurant is designed beautifully and it was a great background.
I had a great dinner here. It’s really well appointed...glitzy but not over the top. I love the decor. I’ll be back for sure.
Great ribeye steak and service.
All was very good, but need to work on hand crafted cocktails, as a bar tender myself, I definitely felt they were bit off the recipes !!!
Best Osso Bucco I ever had!
I can't get enough of this hidden gem on 4th. The food is always amazing, family owned and great staff. You have to try this place.
Outstanding restaurant. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is laid back but up scale. Service was pretty good. Try the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer and the butter cake for dessert.
I went on Saturday evening with 2 other friends. We were sat in a table right beside a large party and right outside the kitchen. Beside a being quite loud because of the party, we also had to deal with staff sorting through silverware on the counter right behind my friends head. I had asked them to stop cause this waa quite loud and distracting. Which she said she would shortly then had another member of the kitchen come out and do the same thing. We had a reservation and there were other tables available in the restaurant so to seat us here is not acceptable. If they do not have room on the kitchen to do their work they shouldn't sit people at that table. Also we wait for about 40 min to get our food which was sub par. I had the lobster ravioli which sone of the peices were dried out. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant .
The food portions are pretty big and pricing is fair for what you get for entrees. They have a very limited appetizer section, and they are all pretty pricey for appies. I was probably most disappointed with the alcohol prices. Our bills came to over $200 per couple because of the wine. A good bottle of wine is anywhere from $80-$100 for an ok wine. The bill was really expensive, and I actually picked this place based on it being reasonable. I don't think I'll go back anytime soon, as it's way too pricey if you plan to have wine with your food.
First time to Sassi. Ambience was great . Service was excellent , attentive and informative. Food portions were fairly large. My wife had the Icelandic Char. Good size portion however the fish was slightly tasteless and bland. I had the Pappardelle Calabrese with 6oz NY steak . Pappardelle was great. Steak was cooked perfectly but only had salt and pepper seasoning and was a little bland. Apple pie pizza with gelato was delicious . Nice place to people watch . Looked like they had some staffing issues in kitchen as food took a while to come out and the owners had to go into kitchen to help with some cooking.
Dined early with a friend on a Wednesday evening.
We shared the mussels as a starter and each had a salad.
Beet salad and caprese were both delicious.
No room for dessert but will definitely try next time.
Loved the decor & atmosphere and service was excellent.
A neighbourhood gem...
Great night at SASSI. It was our first time there. Karen, our waitress, was incredibly accommodating as we had limited time, due to a concert.
Looking forward to going back for an relaxing dinner, next time. The food was spectacular.
I have been to Sassi many times and I continue to frequent this establishment whether I'm on my own or coming in with friends . I enjoy the ambience, the food and the service in addition the ownership of Sassi is first class . Sassi has a nice selection of food categories on the menu to choose from whether you want a simple appetizer or a nice main course, they offer a broad range . The quality of the food is consistent this is why I continue to go there .
The Sassi brunch I do enjoy with some tasty choices on the menu . The service is very attentive
welcoming you with open arms . The experience in this restaurant sets the mark as to the way customers should be treated and served . My appreciation goes out to Mary and Chris for there
hard work and dedication to servicing the city and surrounding area .
Continued success in showing Calgarians what is a truly a positive dining experience !
Had an excellent meal. Very good service. Love the atmosphere.
