SASSI Kitchen & Bar - Calgary Ratings and Reviews
I can't get enough of this hidden gem on 4th. The food is always amazing, family owned and great staff. You have to try this place.
Outstanding restaurant. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is laid back but up scale. Service was pretty good. Try the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer and the butter cake for dessert.
I went on Saturday evening with 2 other friends. We were sat in a table right beside a large party and right outside the kitchen. Beside a being quite loud because of the party, we also had to deal with staff sorting through silverware on the counter right behind my friends head. I had asked them to stop cause this waa quite loud and distracting. Which she said she would shortly then had another member of the kitchen come out and do the same thing. We had a reservation and there were other tables available in the restaurant so to seat us here is not acceptable. If they do not have room on the kitchen to do their work they shouldn't sit people at that table. Also we wait for about 40 min to get our food which was sub par. I had the lobster ravioli which sone of the peices were dried out. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant .
The food portions are pretty big and pricing is fair for what you get for entrees. They have a very limited appetizer section, and they are all pretty pricey for appies. I was probably most disappointed with the alcohol prices. Our bills came to over $200 per couple because of the wine. A good bottle of wine is anywhere from $80-$100 for an ok wine. The bill was really expensive, and I actually picked this place based on it being reasonable. I don't think I'll go back anytime soon, as it's way too pricey if you plan to have wine with your food.
First time to Sassi. Ambience was great . Service was excellent , attentive and informative. Food portions were fairly large. My wife had the Icelandic Char. Good size portion however the fish was slightly tasteless and bland. I had the Pappardelle Calabrese with 6oz NY steak . Pappardelle was great. Steak was cooked perfectly but only had salt and pepper seasoning and was a little bland. Apple pie pizza with gelato was delicious . Nice place to people watch . Looked like they had some staffing issues in kitchen as food took a while to come out and the owners had to go into kitchen to help with some cooking.
Dined early with a friend on a Wednesday evening.
We shared the mussels as a starter and each had a salad.
Beet salad and caprese were both delicious.
No room for dessert but will definitely try next time.
Loved the decor & atmosphere and service was excellent.
A neighbourhood gem...
Great night at SASSI. It was our first time there. Karen, our waitress, was incredibly accommodating as we had limited time, due to a concert.
Looking forward to going back for an relaxing dinner, next time. The food was spectacular.
I have been to Sassi many times and I continue to frequent this establishment whether I'm on my own or coming in with friends . I enjoy the ambience, the food and the service in addition the ownership of Sassi is first class . Sassi has a nice selection of food categories on the menu to choose from whether you want a simple appetizer or a nice main course, they offer a broad range . The quality of the food is consistent this is why I continue to go there .
The Sassi brunch I do enjoy with some tasty choices on the menu . The service is very attentive
welcoming you with open arms . The experience in this restaurant sets the mark as to the way customers should be treated and served . My appreciation goes out to Mary and Chris for there
hard work and dedication to servicing the city and surrounding area .
Continued success in showing Calgarians what is a truly a positive dining experience !
Had an excellent meal. Very good service. Love the atmosphere.

Awesome ! It was my girlfriend's birthday and It was amazing , the service was great and we enjoyed our time , would definitely recommend, food was great also!
Beautiful light elegant decor combined with a varied excellent menu executed perfectly for your dining pleasure. Attentive staff led by the owners always being there to make sure you are well looked after and satisfied.
Open Table!!! Very disappointing to find out that a restaurant listed as a two star priced restaurant was actually priced at the high end of three stars!!! As the party planner for our dinner night with friends, it was most embarrassing that the menu items were far overpriced for our budget. Very disappointed. With no prices listed on the menu part of Open Table, I trusted your rating to be accurate. This won't help this restaurant thrive. The decor was stunning. The food good. The service nice. But we highly suggest you fix this! If it's priced as a three star, the open table app should reflect this.
Great new restaurant ! I will be back !
Was disappointed ... we were sat beside another table enjoying their Mother's Day dinner and the rest of the restaurant was quiet ... the manager/owner was talking down to his server... no special glass of wine or rose or anything for Mother's Day. overall experience was bad!!
Sassi had great food and service. We would recommend to anyone who wanted a romantic night out with amazing, traditional-style Italian food. It is a beautiful designed restaurant and we hope it to become more of a hot spot in the area. However, we felt that other nearby restaurants had the same quality of food for a lower price.
Overall a great experience!! Great food and service!
Probably the most over priced restaurant I have been too for very mediocre food. Service is excellent though and nice decor. Sadly, food doesn't even come close, doubt this place will have many repeat customers. Sadly. Don't know why entrepreneurs feel like they can jack up ridiculous prices because they are located in calgary.
Food is overpriced, the appetizers actually tasted freezer burnt, could tell they were not fresh, especially the meatballs.
Server was good and ambiance is nice. Food quality is not worth the cost.
Our Server was absolutely amazing, she really made the birthday a fun celebration ( Shaken, Not Stirred ;). The owner went out of her way to customize the menu for us. Overall Great Experience !
Great food, great service, beautiful restaurant. Delicious brunch, was able to make a reservation and happily accommodated a toddler (has high chairs). Not busy for brunch which was surprising - I've definitely been recommending Sassi after our great experience!
The service was great, the decor was beautiful but the food was sub par. The appy arrived cold, the spaghetti came with the noodles pre cut in a bowl which made it really hard to eat (also super strange) and was flavourless and the ravioli was good but also came not very warm. Hopefully they are still trying to work out the kinks in the kitchen as it was not busy at all.
It's a great restaurant with great food and high class vibe. The service was excellent. The kale chips are irresistible.
Great place for a get together with friends and family.
Our waiter was awful, he made us feel like we weren't important enough to be there, while he doted on the Calgary flames, which for some reason was the first thing he said to us, that it was a "flames night". Zomato said the restaurant was 2 dollar signs out of four...it was definitely 3 dollar signs out of four. What ruined it was the very poor service. We left to eat a fat, fair priced steak at the rose and crown where we received delightful service.
The first two wines we ordered we no longer available. We clearly told our server we wanted to drink a bit first and take our time, but she still came by every 5 min to ask us if we were ready to order. The kale Caesar salad was rather mediocre but the ossobuco was quite good. I would not return here anytime soon, even though the ambiance was perfect and decor lovely.
Great place for steaks! Been here twice. If you have at least 4 ppl and want to indulge, by all means go for the meat platter. Drinks are also delicious. Wine list is budget friendly, with hand picked options and a small reserve wine list for those who want to splurge for that special wine to go with your dinner.
The décor is lovely, the staff is very friendly and attentive. I usually like to go a tad earlier to get some quiet time, but it does get pretty booked up around 7:30 or 8 pm.
Great spot on 4th St.
I love the space! Beautiful art on the walls, everything white and marble. However, the food leaves a lot to be desired. Felt like bar food, that didn't suit the setting at all. Also, with the prices, I'd expect more refined presentation. But we got a bottle of Heinz ketchup brought out with one of our dishes.. Clearly, the restaurant owner knows a lot about interior design but very little about food.
They actually lost my open table reservation which was unfortunate
Super service, friendly and welcoming. Good was great too
Really enjoyed our first evening at Sassi!
The restaurant is gorgeous and the food amazing!!
We will back.
Experience was amazing. Our server Vinny was amazing and so friendly. Was so kind and genuine with our kids and made them feel so special. Atmosphere was gorgeous and calm and food was fabulous. Definitely going back! Thank you to everyone at Sassi for making our Valentines Day extra amazing
I haven’t had a good experience at Sassi and I will not go back.
The food is very average. The mains (salmon & burger) were ok, but nothing in particular. The fries were good though, and the salad was just… a salad (really nothing to make a difference, such as a more “complex” dressing). The dessert (brownie) was kind of basic. The coffees were horrible – certainly made from burnt coffee grounds.
They made me pay for the side, knowing that the menu states “Served with Frites or Mixed Greens”. Fixing the bill has been a gong show, and after 3 bills…. I still paid more that what I should have. But at this point, I just gave up.
I have to say that the waitress really tried to be helpful but this does not compensate the overall experience.
On the bright side, it’s comfy and the decor is very nice.
So, I really have not been impressed, and there are so many options in the area that it’s not a place that I would recommend.
Great ambience very comfortable would be great for a gathering in the bar area. Lots to choose from on menu.enjoyed it very much!
We had a great evening celebrating our daughters birthday!
Beautiful setting, great food and wonderful service!
We had a wide range of food from salads, lamb lollipops, steak, fresh char, brownies and crime brûlée . All amazing!
I had been to Sassi before Christmas and the place was busy. Last Wednesday there were only 6 people in the restaurant. So that low buzz of people visiting was missing and that was too bad. Enjoyed the food and the waiter was attentive without being intrusive.
(Walking back to downtown we passed the ramen place on 4th Street. Went in to have a look and scan the menu. The place was packed to the rafters.)
Hope Sassi is surviving.
Loved the food, I really love their menu and would of ordered just about anything. The place was beautiful, great location, small but well diversed wine list, including some high end gems that are priced fairly... for once. Everything was great except for the service, which rated well lower than the moderately-high prices the menu offers.
The girl serving was absent for good portions of the evening, and maybe she was having a bad day, that happens. BUT... sometimes that means someone leaves the restaurant after just an appy and a glass of wine
Very nice decor, friendly staff, excellent food! Only $5 Cesars and $5 Mamosas for Sunday Brunch combined with delicious food makes it an easy choice!
Excellent food, service & ambience. I would like Sassi to expand their wine list. Overall amazing!
Simply fabulous! Love the decor- food was deliciously good!
