Great food/drinks, great service and has vegan options on the menu. We plan to come back for the chef’s special tasting as they said they could do a vegan menu for that. Highly recommend!

Chef's tasting menu was amazing, sevice was spot on, just a perfect experience all around. The kitchen got a tiny bit backed up at one point but honestly, it didn't even matter. The chef and (I think?) owner kept the sake and conversation flowing and we loved having a table with a view of the kitchen. The entire experience was one I would enthusiastically return to! Also, can't beat the value. Tasting + waygu supplement + sake pairings for two, with really kind service and no pretension, for a fraction of the price of most tasting menus. Don't sleep on the spoons and the cheesecake no matter what you do!

The food and ambiance was worthy and the service was excellent! I would recommend this place to friends. Everyone that worked there was attentive, friendly and had a ready smile. At one point during my dinner one of my chopsticks rolled off the table and onto the floor and seconds later a waiter appeared with 2 clean chopsticks! He said he heard it hit the floor from wherever he was in the restaurant and grabbed clean ones to bring over. It felt like the people working there were attuned to their customers. That really left a positive impression with me.

Hamachi shots and wings are an absolute must. Garlic noodles were flavorful, and rich - crispy garlic chips on top gave it an extra crunch. Gumbo could have used a little more sauce, will try the miso cod next go around. Will be coming back, thank you Saucy!

Very good food, and attentive waitstaff. I'd say that the portion size for the entrees was quite large, but smaller than expected for the appetizers. I think the main thing missing is a full bar (for my tastes). If you like Sake, or Japanese beer, you are in luck.

Food was phenomenal and the server was attentive. Our favorites are the spicy chicken wings and saucy udon. If anyone enjoys spicy Asian fusion, we highly recommend to try out this Oakland local gem. Please be aware some dishes are on the salty side.

We have seen Saucy on OpenTable and always said "we should try it". We walked past it and again said we need to go there sometime. Went this past Saturday. We decided on the tasting menu. I have mixed views on tasting menus - they tend to be perfect or they are so "precious" that you need to grab a slice of pizza after. But we committed to it as the sample menu sounded great And damn, did it deliver. I would say that the portions for a six course menu were appropriate to leaning "how will I finish the remaining courses?" Staff is phenomenal. Professional without being cloying. Super helpful and engaging. My husband opted for the sake pairing and I stuck to nonalcoholic cocktails. First course was Hamachi spoons. Heaven in a spoon. Hamachi sashimi perfectly dressed. Second course was pork belly lettuce wrap with jalapeño, and julienned veggies. Yum - I wanted more. Third course was signature Garlic noodles with prawns. I wanted to be obnoxious and lick the bowl. Then perfectly seared scallops (one with truffle salt the other with a Chile oil sauce - both awesome but if I were choosing only one then Chile oil sauce. "Entree" was a trio with Marinated grilled sea bass on one end of plate, short rib with cauliflower puree on other and brussel sprouts with honey mustard sauce in between. So many great flavors that your mouth sang. At this point, I quite literally said that I'll get my dessert course to go. Then it came - a duo of bread pudding - with mango, caramel and other stuff (right up there with best I've had if not best) and a super light and delicious cheesecake with berry compote. I ate most of it and was bummed that my tummy would take no more The chef came out and chatted with us which was great. I really enjoyed this tasting menu. I left satiated and happy. The price was way more than fair. It rivals other tasting menus that a multiples of this price. All I can say is Exquisitely done Chef and staff!!!!!

We had the chefs tasting and overall it was very good! The fusion flavors were well done, the hamachi spoons and pork belly were perfect, and the portions were a good size…. Some of the seafood was a smidge overcooked and some of the flavors in the last entree were strong for me, but perfect for my partner! The desserts were excellent and creative. Looking forward to coming back and ordering a la carte. The service was wonderful.

Girls night out for oakland restaurant week. Service was fast and attentive. Ambience was charming and cozy and every single dish was absolutely delicious. It’s missing a cocktail menu but I didn’t mind given the yummy ness of the meal. Highly recommend!!

Everything tasted delicious. we went for Oakland restaurant week our reservation was for 6 PM and we were promptly greeted and seated. our food came out right away, everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Our 2 servers were wonderful. we met the owner she was very nice. she gave us some non alcoholic beverages free of charge for being 1st time customers. I will return.

The NICEST people work here. So wonderful and friendly. The food was excellent too. We tried as many things as we could. The ambiance was cozy but modern. The perfect place on a rainy day. Plenty of parking right around the corner too. We will return.

The prefixed Valentine’s Day menu was deliciously above expectations. The ambience was cute and cozy. The staff is full of smiles and attentive. This was our first time and we already decided mid-meal we want to return and try their regular menu. Also a plus for the easy parking lot right next door.

I think they'll be a huge hit. They really care about their customers. A few items (lettuce wrap & duck eggroll) need to be tweaked, given more thought or just eliminated. The garlic noodles are xlnt, the hamachi spoon is yummy but could be better as an ahi spoon and the basque cheesecake with berries is outstanding.

An outstanding neighborhood gem. The place has a very relaxed, friendly vibe and service is prompt and attentive. Prices are reasonable for the elevated quality of some of the dishes--hamachi spoons and sea bass with a miso glaze for example. The fish was cooked to perfection, and came with a generous side of brussels sprouts browned to perfection--not blackened as so many brussel sprouts presentations these days seem to be. Pork belly bao were excellent. The miso dressing makes the little gem salad more interesting than the usual. We ended with the fried bao ice cream sandwich, which sounds unusual but turned out to be really delicious. It is presented with three different toppings, so each bite was a little different. That kind of sums up this place--whether presenting a standard or something entirely new, something different in every bite. I don't drink alcohol, but should mention that they have a wide variety of imported sake, and some interesting looking sake cocktails.
