Great service, good food
Thank you! We hope to see you in again soon.
This was our second experience with Saveur’s tasting menu. The first was about eight months ago, and the time lapse had nothing to do with the restaurant’s quality, but was based on our living in a Seattle suburb, making a Victoria vacation an infrequent event.
Both times, we were extremely impressed with the quality of the food and service. The careful layering of flavors and textures in each course made for a memorable and delightful meal. There is great emphasis on local, peak season food, which is a pleasure.
We had been amazed, on our first visit, that there wasn’t a line around the block...that, in fact, attendance midweek seemed a little sparse. This time, we were pleased to see the dining room much more full.
Thank you Rhodabe for the kind words about your experiences at Saveur. You came at a fantastic time of year when the farms keep surprising us with new produce, this allows the chef to have fun with combining so many new fresh flavours. We look forward to having you join us again when you are able to make it back to Victoria.
We had a fantastic brunch. the food was excellent. The waitress was very engaging. We would go back again and would recommend to anyone.
Thank you Willie, We are so glad you enjoyed your brunch at Saveur! We look forward to having you two join us again.
We are continuously impressed by Saveur - the quality and creativity is always top-notch, the presentation stunning, the room inviting. Staff sometimes get a little busy, but everyone is always friendly and accommodating. A real gem in Victoria.
Thank you SolA for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Saveur. We partner with lots of local farms; those fresh vegetables allow the chefs creativity, both in preparation and presentation, to shine though in his dishes. We look forward to having you join us again.
Our first time at Saveur and we were so appreciative of the outstanding and thoughtful menu and service.
They also accommodated our daughters food allergies with aplomb instead of eye rolling and suspicion.
Rabbit spring roll, pork belly, carpaccio, halibut and a mushroom entree were all beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
Attentive service, great cocktails and wines by the glass and a very charming interior design made for the perfect evening.
Thank you Maritaine for taking your time to tell us about your experience at Saveur. With notice we are happy to accommodate a variety dietary restrictions, we try to make your evening with us as much about the experience as the food. We look forward to having you dine with us again.
Chefs tasting menu was amazing, delicate, seasonal and on point.
Thank you for your kind words about Saveur. This is always a fun season at the restaurant, new vegetables and fruits keep arriving at the farms each week which allows the chef to showcase some of his favorite foods that Vancouver island has to offer. New dishes should be coming soon!
This was my first visit the staff that greeted me were friendly and gracious. My waitress was very attentive and was knowledgeable about all of the dishes. The meal was amazing I will definitely be returning and with friends.
Thank you Terry, we look forward to having you and all your friends join us. The chefs are working hard in the kitchen to create new summer dishes for you to try on your next visit.
University graduation brunch. This was the best eggs benny that I have ever had. Fantastic breakfast, great service. We will make a special trip back to Victoria just to try dinner here.
Thank you for your kind words about your brunch, and congratulations to the graduate! The Chef's homemade english muffins are just one of the reasons the bennys at Saveur are so delicious. We look forward to having you in for dinner next time you are in town.
Our second visit and the food was outstanding again. The chef is so creative but never at the expense of amazing flavour. The service is superb.
Followed trip advisor recommendations and was not disappointed
We went for brunch. The food was incredibly flavourful, beautifully presented. It is a titch pricey but so many fresh in house sauces etc mean it is worth it.
I truly did not like the music (hits from the 70s) which was played loudly. It was not busy in the restaurant so I wonder if it had been if that would have made a difference.
Thank you Barbara for taking the time to tell us about your brunch at Saveur. We are so glad you enjoyed the food, the trick with the sauces is sourcing fresh vegetables from the farms every week, it makes all the difference. Thank you for your feedback on the music we will take that into consideration for brunch moving forward.
Second visit to Saveur and food was as fantastic as our first visit. Excellent food, great presentation and knowledgeable staff. Will be back again.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Food outstanding!
The food is very well prepared and given exotic names but they can't avoid the fact that you are paying $30.00 for a chicken breast and $25.00 for mushrooms. The emphasis is to try the "tasting menu" which we did not. The wine list was good with reasonable prices.
We did the tasting menu and it was fabulous. Every course was fresh, beautifully prepared, and delicious. The staff was warm and friendly, and the decor was super cool. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Didn’t like that Coffee and sodas are charged by each drink or the very loud music ....but food and service were excellent
This is a small, intimate restaurant with exceptional food and service. The meal was delicious, special and well-presented. We shared the carpaccio, and had the steak and halibut as entrees. Both entrees were cooked perfectly and both had great, nuanced seasonings that really brought out the flavor and made it special. This French-inspired cuisine really hit the mark and there is no doubt we will return during our next visit. Truly the best meal we had among many during our week-long stay in Victoria; a true gem.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review Foster, We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to Saveur. The trick to the halibut is we source it fresh every day, and the kitchen hand picks the nettles for the veloute that is paired with it. The Chef is busy creating new dishes that should be launched in the next few weeks, so keep an eye on our social media to see what they are creating next! We look forward to having you in next time.
We have never had better food anywhere. Yes, anywhere!
I tough the food was original, great combinations of flavour, aroma and textures. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Food was delicious and creative. Portions are small and when spending $400 on a meal you shouldn’t feel like you need a little snack when you get home. If you like the French style of smaller portions perhaps this should be reflected in the price....?
I'm ashamed to say this is only my second time to Saveur, however both visits were outstanding! This time I took my 3 girlfriends and from the time we entered the restaurant, we were treated with open arms. Our server was excellent, the drinks were amazing and the food, spectacular.
Probably the best dinner we’ve ever enjoyed. Price reflected that but it was a special occasion and we were let down in no way. Vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairings.
Great lunch with friends. Food top notch. Gnocchi special to die for
The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The staff is friendly and attentive. Once again a memorable dining experience. Thank you
Poor service, no coffee refills and long wait time. Ambiance is very nice but definitely not kid friendly. Food was fresh and tasty.
Very lovely brunch, some innovative menu items. Enjoyed our dining experience but a little on the pricey side.
We couldn't believe Saveur has been there for 4 years and this was our first visit! Must be the only breakfast place in Victoria without a lineup out the door on the weekends. The food was very good - you'll pay more than Spoons, Jam, etc, but the food at Saveur is also a level up.
Went for the 5 course tasting menu, and everything was excellent. First time for any tasting menu in several countries where each course was as good as any of the others - amazing! We’ll be back!
The Chefs tasting menu was an amazing experience and the Smoke and Coke drink was awesome.
The only reason I did not award 5 stars to food quality is because our chicken wings were less than great. Everything else was excellent especially our dessert.
My wife and I had a very enjoyable anniversary dinner at Saveur, and both had the tasting menu. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. The wine selections available by the glass were noticeably better than other nice restaurants we tried in Victoria, and appear more fairly priced as well. There was a long time between each course and the meal was quite slow. Be prepared to spend 3 hours, but the food is well worth it.
We loved our meal, well done chefs! The staff were friendly and paid attention to detail. It was a lovely evening, thank you.
Love this place. Ordered pretty much one of everything. Lot's of interesting dishes that take your taste buds in different directions!
They made a lovely vegetarian tasting menu for us off the menu. It was perfect.
We had a wonderful brunch and excellent service. the food was delicious and beautifully served
Absolutely wonderful brunch with outstanding service and food!
Always a positive experience. Lovely staff. Good quality food. Nice presentation.
Food and service were both amazing. Will definitely visit again!
I had the mushroom dish and it was delicious. My husband had the Halibut and it was perfectly done. Excellent meal!
We enjoyed our meal. The service was really very attentive. We had the five course chefs meal. The food was interesting and quite a bit out of the ordinary and has visual appeal. The meal was not too filling. We left full but not bursting. The wine list is good, limited but good quality. It must be a real pain to creat such complicated courses with so many ingredients. From a business point of view this makes little sense. Many of the courses had a lot of sweet and savoury sauces. There really should have been a fresh course to break this up a bit. That is my main criticism. Four glasses of wine and two full meals resulted in a $300 dollar bill. So not cheap. Given the amount of hand labour in these meals nobody in the restaurant is getting rich. We will probably go to the Chalet for our next fancy meal it is less new-age and probably more French at somewhat less cost. If you want to post something on Facebook, Saveur beats just about any Victoria restaurant that I have been to.
