Sign outside said they were short staffed, but we barely noticed. Wait staff efficient and did not act harried or annoyed at all. Food was EXCELLENT, delicious. The restaurant overall looks a little shabby but the food made up for it-

My main dish order was made wrong - twice. I ordered a lemongrass pad thai with beef; no onions or carrots. The first time it was made with everything. The second time it was made with chicken. Server was nice however didn’t get my order right.

The food was wonderful, service was terrible. They were very clearly short handed. To spend over $100 for dinner and have terrible service was frustrating. The food was excellent, they need to get their act together. I may return, but not because of the service, it was very disappointing.

Pretty run down place. Service was actually quite poor. Took forever for waitress to come over. She was pleasant but just not paying attention. Example; Appetizer comes (finally) and we don't have any silverware or napkins. I ask if we could get some and she politely says sure. Then wanders away, walking right past where they keep silverware and napkins so I had to go the service area and ask someone else. I like other Sawatdees, but this one I'll not return to.

Everything was excellent, service, food and atmosphere. The chicken satay was perfect and so delicious. The fresh spring rolls were excellent as well. I had beef and peppers, the beef was tender and the peppers were still crisp and tender, perfect for this dish. Everyone at our table loved their food. Our server was really wonderful and I know they are doing the job of two most of the time due to most restaurants being short staffed. I definitely recommend Sawatdee. I think they do a great job always. If you’re heading to the History Theater, it’s only a couple blocks away, easy walking distance.

Pre- theatre dinner. Spring rolls were good. Coconut shrimp and calamari were way over cooked. Waitresses comment was that people like different things- no apology or inquiry. Hard to get her to come back to table even for the check. Won’t be back.

Very good food and service for our table of four on a Sunday night. Our appetizers and entrees were all excellent, and the spice levels were as requested. The service was pleasant and attentive. Our downside was the restaurant seemed a little chilly.

Curry was really poor quality, watery and beef was tasteless. They took off 1/2 price so we decided we’d take it home and let it marinate and see if it was better the next day…nope. Spicy noodles were salty for main flavor. Waiter was new and very nice. We won’t return.

I haven’t been to Sawatdee for a year or so, and each time I feel the good quality is going down. I had the spinach with peanut curry sauce and it was not great. The spinach was only partially cooked and tasted stringy, like eating spaghetti because it had all the long stems which were not cooked. The shrimp was ok, and the sauce really was lacking flavor. Nota lot of peanut flavor coming through, and some rather lumpy tomatoe-y sauce? Sad as I love Thai food and wish this was a solid option for more often. No one else in our party of 6 was loving their food either, so all around it was disappointing.

The hostess that seated us was not very friendly or welcoming. Our waiter was outstanding, had great suggestions and was very attentive. The food was ok. The restaurant and their restroom could use a deep clean.

Fantastic food. Servers are stretched, but accurate orders about as good as it gets given the times. Shame the back room is not open as that is such a nice venue for a quiet dinner. But we get it. Help is tight and there’s not a whole lot of people out eating. We seem to hit it at the busy time, and then it got quiet. Wonderful place.

Sawatdee restaurant, downtown St. Paul, is my home away from home. Delicious food, drinks...superb service. I'm in love with this place and its location. It brings a lot of life to downtown St. Paul and as far as I'm concerned is the very best place to eat in the City. Don't worry--you can get your Thai food mild, medium or hot or any variation therearound. Absolutely first class.

My daughter wanted Thai food before heading off to college and this was just what she wanted. Nothing complicated or fussy. The menu was extensive and the food tasted very fresh. It was a short walk from the hotel which also made it the perfect option. Service was friendly, fast and overall excellent.

The fisherman's delight was a disappointment from the value standpoint. This is priced at the high end for a Asian entree and consists of a cup of cooked rice, about a cup and a half of carrots, broccoli and cauliflower and about 5 medium sized shrimp, 4 or 5 pieces of squid and about 4 medium sized scallops. It was not a lot of food for the price. The sauce was good and everything was well prepared. I just feel that a $25 entree should be a bit more generous on the seafood and rice.
