   Great food, but service flow and kid pricing could be improved The food was great—flavourful and nicely presented—but the experience started off a bit disjointed. After being seated, we weren’t given any guidance on whether to wait or help ourselves. Eventually, I asked the bartender, who let us know we could go ahead. After we started eating, I returned to the bar to order drinks, only to learn she wasn’t able to serve us. At that point, no server had come by our table, and we didn’t know who was assigned to us. The bartender sent someone over, and from there the experience improved. The server mentioned she had come by earlier but must have just missed us. A staff member also kindly helped stabilize our wobbly table. I had made a quick fix myself, but she had a better solution, which was appreciated. There were several dessert options, and I was thankful someone informed me that the chocolate fountain contained nuts, as I have a hazelnut allergy. That said, another staff member wasn’t sure about the ingredients in the other desserts, though some seemed nut-free. I overheard a few guests comment on the limited kid-friendly options and noticed some children had only bread and salad on their plates. While I do think you can piece together a decent plate for a child, the $45–$65 (there is a discount for child but not much I believe, two of us was I believe $110 for buffet which includes drinks then tip on top I believe) charge felt too steep for what most kids would actually eat. A $25 rate would be more reasonable. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was very enjoyable. With a bit more clarity in service and a more thoughtful approach to kid pricing, the experience could easily go from good to great.

   It's a nice restaurant that been existing long periods of time. The building looks very spacious from the outside but it felt very cramped in the restaurant. Our food was quite salty, water was not refilled - maybe once after request. I felt rushed and pushed to order faster by our waiter. He wasn't rude, I'm sure he is a lovely man but I do not like being rushed through esp when there are empty seats in the restaurant. The steak was fantastic, family member really loved the lamb - even scraped the last bits of sauce off the plate. Would I pay this again tho? Probably not. It was a lovely old time restaurant, if this is the vibe to go for!

   The service was fantastic, but sadly the birthday girl’s ribeye was overdone. She didn’t want to make a fuss, so didn’t mention it, but it was very disappointing. To be honest, the other orders were pretty average. Other than the server, this was not a wonderful experience.

   I had an overall terrible experience at the Sawmill during my visit — I am a very regular patron, visiting 6 times this year already. I emailed the restaurant, which I never do, and did not even receive a response.
