   The food was AMAZING!! But I did feel the cocktails were pricey. Smaller martinis were $20. They were good, but not even with top shelf vodka it was a bit pricey, even in comparison to a Mastros, where they are $22, but they are large and they leave you extra in the shaker. I would still go back but for happy hour as the food was excellent and a fair price for the quality!

   From start to finish, our experience at Second Story was fantastic. Our server Nicholas, was friendly, knowledgeable, charismatic and efficient throughout the evening. The cocktails were well made and tasteful. We all ordered the tasting menu, and it did not disappoint. The biscuits with honey and jam are a “must-have” and easily the best i have ever experienced. The pomegranate oysters and yellowtail crude were equally delicious and flavorful. The jerk chicken and filet of bison were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The pasta was full of incredible flavor and literally melted in your mouth. An absolute wonderful place and experience. Truly a hidden gem!

   First time dining here for my Sons Birthday, everything was great, loved the ambience , food was awesome . A bit disappointed that we spent over $500 for a Birthday celebration which was noted in our open table reservation, however there was no acknowledgement of it, most likely will not be returning for any special occasion in the future.

   Very overrated. Went to this place based off suggestions and reviews but it seems a new chef came to town or they lower their standards during restaurant week. Food was very underwhelming. The drinks were overpriced for taste value. I would not come back to this place. Their are too many places we’ve gone in Scottsdale to come back here. Id suggest Beverly for drinks and maple & ash for dinner

   Went during restaurant week for dinner, had reservation. Smaller location. Sat at high top inside. Busy but not noisy. Service was excellent and tan of staff helped up during entire meal. Started with biscuits that were great, buttery and flaky. Second course was Cesar salad, nice balanced dressing on it. Third course was mushroom Alfredo, mushroom taste was light which I liked. Fourth course was grouper the fruit salsa was very spicy. Tried my friend’s fried rice that was maybe the best thing I tasted. Cocktail presentation was excellent but I didn’t get a lot of the flavors that were listed. Will likely head back again.

   Great service, visited for Spring Arizona Restaurant Week with friends. The “change your life” biscuits were really worth the hype. The crispy sushi rice and soy cured egg yolk were tasty, and the cast iron grouper was to die for.

   Decided to try Second Story for AZ Restaurant Week, the ambiance is very nice - dark, quiet, cozy, romantic. Our server, Nicholas, may have been new, he was a bit clumsy with a poor memory, needing to ask us several times throughout the evening what we ordered ! The staff made 1 serious slip up, one in our group of 4 is a recovering alcoholic and ordered a N/A beer. They served his beer and thankfully he checked the label to discover it was not N/A. Bar Server apologized, she comped us the one wrong beer and she brought a correct N/A. We also were surprised to learn that Second Story does not offer ice tea, mmmm unusual for a desert town! But then the food started to arrive and all was forgotten. All 4 of us loved our meals from the salads to the taster to the entree! We ordered Bison, Grouper and Jerk Chicken and not a single complaint. We passed on dessert to have Gelato at the downstairs parlor! I would return to Second Story just for the Bison and to sit on their patio when the weather is nice!

   This was my 2nd visit to 2nd story. The 1st visit I came in for the Wednesday oyster special but unfortunately, they had run out. I didn't have a reservation but was seated right away on the patio. Blonde host with long hair was very welcoming & friendly & accommodated a table switch I requested. I don't recall the servers name (long haired brunette) was very friendly & gave good recommendations, but the service was very very slow & it was not busy. I went inside once to use the bathroom & a second time to ask for the check. Both times she was standing at the kitchen window talking to other employees. Both visits we enjoyed the mussels, the broth is delicious. 2nd visit we came in for restaurant week & were able to enjoy the oysters. They were fresh & the pomegranate vinaigrette had a good flavor. Both salads were fresh & flavorful. The mushroom fettucine was absolutely the best dish & I hope to go back and have a full-size portion soon. The restaurant week menu is a tad confusing & had a few errors. I.E., yellowtail crudo was listed but we were served yellowfin tuna. We mentioned to the server, she notified a manager (bearded / tattooed gentleman) he came over apologized & said we would not be charged for the upgrade. Alyssa was our server, she was personable, informative, & attentive (everything I want in a server). We were celebrating a birthday & they brought out the tastiest & cutest charcuterie dessert board. It was a very nice touch. I love the giant chandelier & the dark, moody ambiance. The patio is also cute w/ string lights & good spot to people watch. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots & is definitely a hidden gem in old town.

    I dined here last night with my husband for Arizona Restaurant Week, which was $33/person. The space has dark, loungey “speakeasy” vibes, which was different than most places in Old Town we’ve been to, soa nice change of pace. We enjoyed the ambiance a lot. I had a delicious dirty martini off their happy hour menu. My hubby ordered a Manhattan ($25!!) but he said it was good. We started with their “change your life” biscuits, and they were the highlight! Pay the extra $ for them if you do the AZ Restaurant Week menu. Literally every single dish on the menu was so delicious. You can taste the fresh ingredients in every bite. We had the melon and burrata salad, Caesar salad, the crispy sushi rice, chili fettuccine Alfredo, the jerk chicken, and the grouper. My grouper was raw in the middle, and I HATE complaining or sending things back, but when our server asked how everything was, I couldn’t lie. The manager was great about it and got me a fresh one right away. VERY good! I would definitely come back here, even just for happy hour at the bar!

    Cocktails were very good. Service was impeccable very polite and professional. Answered all of our questions. A very good dining experience. On concern was seeing the menu because of limited lighting even for early dinner. Highly recommend for intimate dining.

    We tried them for Az Restaurant Week. We enjoyed all the dishes we tried (biscuits, Caesar salad, burrata and melon, jerked chicken and grouper). There were two negatives: One, the stairway up to the second floor was so dark you can barely see (until your eyes adjust) and this was complicated by groups of people trying to go both up and down. We all felt the need to wash our hands before being seated. Two, granted it was Friday night and the dining room was packed, but we could not hear each other speak. I think we will eat there again. But maybe on a non-weekend night.

    We enjoyed outdoor seating where we could people watch along Scottsdale Rd. We came for AZ Restaurant Week because it was such a great deal, knowing we would spend more than the $33/person. Our server, Rachel, was awesome, although everyone works together as a team, which is always nice to have at a restaurant. Our food was amazing - loved everything we chose. Definitely made a good decision starting with the biscuits and honey.

    I’ve been coming here for years but haven’t been in about 3 years since before Covid. They got very proud of their menu. The prices are pretty high for mediocre product. The cocktail menus prices were all $20 and $25 (which isn’t online and the online menu has outdated drinks). We can go to Ocean 44 and get cocktails for less and they leave the shaker with you. Even if we go to some of the best cocktail bars like bitter and twisted or little rituals cocktails aren’t $20. The food was just okay. The menu seems confused, there is Japanese, Italian and steak? No apps sounded great so we went straight to entrees. Mussels were okay and the short rib pasta had no flavor (we had to ask for salt and pepper). Other reviews say everything was too salty so maybe the over corrected. Long story short, there are so many other restaurants in old town at this price point that deliver on the quality and value. Sad to see them miss the mark so bad, if you have prices like this you really need to deliver.

    You can get the same or better tasting food and cocktails within walking distance for a better price. My cocktail tasted a bit strange. Excellent service was on the same level as other 4 star restaurants in the area. Would come back again if I can't get into my other favorites in the area.

    Last night my wife and I took our Nephew, who was visiting from CA, to dinner at this restaurant. He is a Bourbon fan so we thought this would be a good choice. The Server was very good. The food was good. The atmosphere was very nice. We had a couple appetizers, the special pasta and the chicken. My nephew had two bourbon drinks, my wife had 3 Greygoose martinis and I had 2 Hendrick martinis. I don't write a lot of reviews even though my wife and I eat out 6 nights a week and the reason I was motivated to write this was mostly based on the value. The martinis were 16 and 18 dollars with a $5 surcharge I assume for a call liquor and it wasn't a heavy pour. The bourbon drinks were $25 with a $5 surcharge for one he got smoked. Our bill was $300 and over half was for the cocktails. I guess I have to look at the same martini at Mastros which we pay $21 & $22 for that has 3 times the content. I don't think this restaurant warrants the price at all and was shocked at the end of the dinner. I guess if you want to go and have one drink or don't drink I can recommend this restaurant but "liquor" is in the name. Before we got the bill I was looking forward to going back often but unfortunately that was my last time.

    A couple years ago someone recommended this place to to us and we finally made it this evening. We sat at the bar. The entire place was empty. The bartender was less than welcoming but we looked past that and just wanted a positive experience. We ordered drinks and several different small plates. When we got more food, the quality wasn’t good. Too much salt and just not good. When bartender asked us what we thought, we were honest. At the time of cashing out, we got our bill and were surprised he charged us for all the food we did not eat because it wasn’t good. In our experience, If this is the case, most people will comp SOMETHING. This wasn’t about money at all! When we asked the bartender, he got super defensive and then asked if we wanted the food that was not good, taken off the bill. We said yes. He proceeded to take our card and then threw the receipt and card at us in disgust that we even asked. Horrible service. We asked for a manager. No manager. So we asked for the chef. He came out and came at us with the exact same attitude. The only reason I give 2 stars is because the girls working were lovely. Even at one point 1 girl came to grab our dirty side plates to which the bartender said we were fine with. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re looking for high quality service and food.

    I used to love this place but hadn’t visited since pre-COVID. The food used to be amazing. Well it has gone way downhill. Service was pretty terrible, everyone looked annoyed to be working. Food was on the verge of inedible (SO salty!), and very overpriced for what you get. If I go back it will only be for the bourbon selection.

    It was my first time there and I really enjoyed myself. The oysters were very tasty. They don't carry tabasco sauce but they provided us with their own sauce and it def. gave it the kick I was looking for. I will be returning soon.

    I went with a friend who I haven’t been able to see for awhile so we wanted to catch up. We chose Second Story because of our love for oysters and how many people on Instagram loved it here. The food was outstanding! I definitely want to come back for the food. However, I feel like our server didn’t really want to serve us and was just doing the bare minimum and then rushing us to end our meal so we could leave.

    Great birthday celebration! We had an amazing evening celebrating my birthday. The food recommendations were spot on, the egg yolk nigiri being our ultimate favorite! Laurie took an excellent care of us, thank you! The chocolate mousse and prosecco combo to end the evening was the best - thank you so much! We are definitely planing to come back soon!

    Wait staff and greetings were warm and professional. Took a little longer than we expected to get our drinks, but the drinks menu was varied and the quality was good. Not much to choose from on the food menu, but we had the special it was spicy and tasty, except for a few bones that we weren’t expecting to be there.Server was great about getting us our check so we can make our planned engagement nearby. I would probably go there again for drinks however, you have to speak loudly, because so much noise..level is pretty intense if there’s more than four tables full.

    We've enjoyed Second Story a few times and generally enjoyed it each time. Our compliments to the Chef's as the food is always outstanding. We are also Scotch drinkers, and they have a deep menu of different types of Scotch to try and enjoy. Prices at Second Story are comparable to anywhere else in Scottsdale. Ambiance? It's nice. Later in the evening they dim the lights which is what you'd expect or want on date night. It's a little small so the noise level is a bit louder, but that's just us and should not reflect on Second Story. Service? We went on a Saturday night, early. There was not a large crowd in the establishment. As such we thought we'd get better service. When you have to ask a number of times where is our order or drink? That's bad. The wait staff was nice but left us waiting for items at least three times over a 2-hour period. So, you could do better, much better on the service side.

    Dinner for 4. Great little place, suggest reservations as it is smaller than we expected and I could see walk ins struggle. We really enjoyed the Bison Filet and the Chef's pasta special during our visit. The Bison stole the show though. We also had the Jerk Chicken and thought it was ok but wish there was more spice, the crispy skin was great.
