Great food great service! Beautiful place!
The experience We got here is just an average level. No beyond expectations. But I gave 4 star for the foods since I love the steaks we ordered. However,my daughter order ckn fingers and didn’t almost touch it because she was full already so I did took it home. When I get it home I was surprised it was bit raw or uncooked properly!!!Our server did a great job by checking us always, however he forgot the word suggesting or offering something. He did not bother to ask if we want some wine coz we ordered steak. He didn’t offer any dessert.I did it by myself.
Checked out Shift for the first time last night. Heard mixed reviews about the service and decided to give it a try.
Beautiful location and ambiance on their outdoor patio. Interesting mixture of menu choices.
We had Paul’s perogie which were well done. Good flavours and cubes of smokey pork, chives, and sour cream. A bit pricey for 4 pieces but worth trying.
For mains, I ordered the tuna and my spouse ordered the porchetta. His was a bit heavy on the spice side but once he put the mixture of apples and onions together, it was tasty.
The tuna on the other hand was bland. The carpaccio was barely marinated and the cucumber chunks were giant. It was hard to put the items together on the dish to make it taste good and partly because you had to cut everything up yourself. The flavours didn’t really go together. There were little balls of cooked dough with very strong cumin/spice that did not go with anything on the plate. I thought it looked good for a plate but the execution of the idea was poor. I finished half the plate and did not want more.
The service was very lacking. Waiter was very casual with us. Didn’t really seem familiar with the menu. He never checked on us during the meal and when he came to clear the plates, didn’t bother asking how the food was or asking if I wanted my food packed up. His coworker asked if we wanted the bill or if we wanted water at the end of the meal, and had to go get our waiter (it was not busy.) I‘m not sure if they don’t ask about the food with the previously poor reactions of some customers (based on google reviews.) I didn’t have a chance to give them feedback on my dish and the waiter didn’t ask why half my plate was still full.
We usually focus on food and less so on the service, but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a “fine dining” restaurant. We’re not going back.
I left hungry. We came upon the river landing snack shack on our walk beside the remai and I ordered a borscht soup, which was delicious!
The ambience in Shift is amazing as it is located in the architectural gem the Remai Modern Art Gallery. The service was wonderful and very attentive when needed. The food and menu is always very well done and very upbeat and current . We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience . Shift is our favourite Saskatoon restaurant.
The atmosphere and view were excellent. I hadthe lambwich... it was fantastic. My friend had the shrimp fetuccini which was a little too al dente for her, and not hot. We did get a free dessert because of it. Thanks to the staff. We will go back.
We were visiting from out of town and chose Shift because we were going to the Art Gallery. It was an amazing find! Savanna was a great representative of both the restaurant and the city. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and evening. Pls eat here! You won’t be disappointed.
Excellent food, location & service! Half price bottles of wine - Thursday.
The view is lovely, food is good and our server was awesome, what more could you ask for!
We sat outside on a beautiful evening. The park was quite on a Tuesday evening. The food was very good. We would go back.
Waited 1 hour for our oysters on the half shell while watching 3 other tables that arrived after us being served theirs. When asked why the delay we were told their was a mixup even though we had asked when we were going to receive our order at least twice. The oysters were exceptional, but I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We had the Trout and Lamb dishes which were excellent. Wine was priced at 50% off. Service was fine. The dinner menu, in our opinion, could be expanded upon. We will visit again.
The food was very good but the service continues to deteriorate- terribly so and even the manager that I have seen there several times does nothing to check up on the customers exoerience. She just sat at the bar. I love the food there but every time we go the service reminds me why we hadn’t gone for a while. Should be a first class restaurant like St Tropez Bistro or Traverna but not even close. The Remai Modern deserves a restaurant to reflect the first class experience at the rest of the venue.
Our reservation was for 7.15pm. We went to the Taste of Saskatchewan first to listen to some entertainment, unfortunately because of the storm, we had to leave. Just made it back in time to the Shift restaurant, but were 1 1/2 hour early. We asked if we could be accommodated even though we were way too early. The staff was very responsive, arranged for an extra table and chairs. The service was
prompt, the food excellent. Only two flies in the ointment. We were handed the wrong bill, but it was fixed right away, so really no big deal. The second was the loud music. I don't know why even play music.,
people may not like what is being played, but at least tone it down. Hard to hold a conversation.
Aside from those two, we had an enjoyable evening, and certainly will go back again.
Would caution my friends on price. We only went because we got the member discount of 25%. Lack of vegetarian options aside from Mac and cheese.
The ambiance was very good, the staff were friendly.
The service for starters was very fast. The main course took a very long time in coming.
There were 4 of us 2 of the 4 had very good meals, one was good with a few disappointments, the other was not good, it was very overcooked trout, and over cooked vegetables drowning in a cream sauce.
Half price wine mid-week is appreciated especially with the well curated wine list. Food was fabulous in taste and presentation. All staff were pleasantly attentive. The outdoor riverside patio is a summer treat.
One of my favourite restaurants in Saskatoon - beautiful setting. Very pleased to see they finally changed the menu. I would encourage them to do that on a regular basis.
A very nice place to eat or have drinks. Large and bright. Huge patio. Bathrooms are small, but not specific, so you can use any of the three. Tiny weeny sinks, so you won’t be taking a sponge bath ha ha.
Had the mussels app—very good and lots. The trout was served on bed of broccoli and cheese. Perfectly done. Plate came with pork larding pieces which seemed out of synch with the trout dish. The green powder / seasoning on the fish seemed quite salty as the meal progressed.
Highly recommend Shift. The perfect table for two in the house is by the pillar—private and good view.
Had lunch at Shift for their menu preview promotion and the food was fantastic!
Having been previously disappointed in meals at Shift, we decided to give it another try. The service was fairly weak but our food was excellent. Will definitely give them another go after this the ribs appetizer was awesome
I'm a big fan of O&B restaurants elsewhere in Canada so when Shift arrived under their umbrella here in Saskatoon, I was thrilled. The menu has something for everyone. The Cornish hen and trout were both very good. Wine selection was abundant. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the deck and find it is one of the nicest restaurant decks in the city. Highly recommend the experience and I'm sure we'll be back. Good Job Shift!
A beautiful location! We sat on the patio with a great view of the riverbank and passersby. The beautiful evening was marred by a couple of skateboarders noisily slamming. their boards onto the Ramai patio. The food was passable but not flavourful or interesting. I had the chickpea fries as an appetizer and the flat-iron steak as the main course. In my opinion the chickpea fries could be improved by incorporating a small amount of chopped onions, chilli-flakes and garlic. The steak was nicely done but the sauce was bland with a fairly monochromatic flavour. Although the person who seated us when we arrived seemed unaware how of how the reservation system worked, our waiter was attentive and overall the service was good.
Good selection of food. Great location.
Very slow service for low volume of customers. Took 1/2 hr to get drink orders and once there were empty no on came by to take another to order second.
Really tasty food and drinks. Good atmosphere.
I sat at the bar, so the service was a bit lacking as the bartender was divided between myself and making drinks, so next time would just sit at a table.
Never disappoints. The food is always great. Was sad that their polenta was taken off the menu, it was very good. They didn't have my table ready, it was for 7 which was unusual for them.
My first visit was underwhelming. Best location in the city, but annoying music although tastefully not too loud. Menu meh. Descriptions rather unappealing. We have great restaurants here, and this one could do better.
Good was good, patio seating is great! Out of several menu items but ended up with the steak which was very flavourful.
Shift has an incredible view. However, the restaurant lacks vibe and atmosphere. I would describe it as a bit sterile. There’s no music playing and they don’t accommodate allergies very well on their menu. I go back for the view, but that’s about it
Will definitely be returning food was delicious. Servers were lots of fun.
Service was exceptionally poor even with the restaurant almost empty for brunch. Our server was great but it seemed the supervisor took over our table and at best ignored us. Tough to get more coffee, and when asked for jam for our dry toast supervisor seemed shocked and offended that we would ask for that. Was verging on uncomfortable based on her attitude.
Food was alright, view is great, service left much to be desired.
My boyfriend and I went on oyster night and really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend!
Beautiful riverside patio, perfect for lunch. Inventive lunch menu and sprightly eclectic wine list. Really special spot in a gem of a modern art museum.
Amazing service! The food was outstanding and we took advantage of the half price bottles of wine. Great view. Can’t say enough good things about Shift! A nice little gem in the heart of Saskatoon!
Thanks for taking care of me while I was at Shift. Lactose-free mushroom soup was amazing as well as the latte! I was a bit surprised with the music selection but it worked for me as I am a fan of the 80s music.
Had a reservation for dinner for 4. Restaurant was fairly empty and there was some confusion about our reservation. We all ordered different variations of the fixed price menu and were told the dessert was a raspberry tart. Two of us had the Caesar salad starter and it was bland and nothing special, the soup starter also lacked flavour. Between the apps and main was over 30
Min wait (after she cleared the apps away), the salmon was salty, Mac and cheese was basically a bland white sauce and elbow macaroni, not cheesy at all. Dessert came out and it was a chocolate orange torte (best part of the meal but not what we were expecting). We had allowed 2 hours for dinner before an escape room we had booked and service was so slow (even after we told our server our plans) that we were almost late. Our server only offered us drinks once and service was super slow and she didn’t come by often (especially considering it was not busy). The view is pretty but for the price I wouldn’t go back.
Excellent food and service. Savannah was charming and capable. All the dishes were fantastic but things were a bit pricey.
Great food. Service was slow
Great food and wonderful atmosphere! Very enjoyable!
Best meal ever!
