Pace of dining felt a bit rushed & tables were close together so ambience lacking (it was Valentines Day so there were seating numbers & times to accommodate). The food was good & very nicely presented & the service friendly so overall it was a nice experience.
Service was great. Starter and dessert was different. The main meal was great. It was a cool experience but do to price not sure I’d go back but still up in the air with that one. Wine prices were highly inflated as well. Honestly I know many restaurants in Saskatoon that’s just as good and better comfort food for a much smaller price tag.
Thus is an excellent restaurant to visit. Location, views, staff, food & service!!
The fish in the fish and chips was excessively salty. The fries were good, though. The background music was great!
Very good food (whitefish appetizer, steelhead trout main), excellent service, and a beautiful setting overlooking the river. A perfect spot for a fine dinner out.
Very disappointing experience. It literally took over 2 hours just to have brunch for the two of us, and it wasn't even that busy. Then it took another 15 minutes just to flag down a server to finally bring our bill. The food was okay; not great. I would not recommend Shift - very poor overall. We couldn't even get our waters refilled.
We waited an hour for our food. Thirty minutes after we were seated our order was taken. The service was terrible - no explanation for the delay, and no apology. The food was questionable: the corned beef hash was NOT corned beef hash, but a red wine-based stew; the frittata was shrimp, but no one informed us. Servers were rude, unprofessional, slow, inefficient, and incompetent. Terrible brunch experience. We will not return.
It was great having lunch at the Shift. Our waitress was very personable and friendly. The view of the river bank and river was wonderful and our meals were great. I will definitely return for another great dining experience!
Food was absolutely amazing. Sauces and flavours delightful. Service was a bit slow. Will definitely visit again!
Our food was very disappointing. We arrived for brunch and there were only 2-3 tables and the restaurant remained relatively quiet throughout our whole meal. The burger we ordered was extremely dry and the eggs Benedict, one of the eggs was pretty much raw with the egg whites very runny too. It was hard to justify the cost with the quality and taste of the meal.
Glad we got to have a few of our favorite dishes before the menu change. Amazing service by Savannah- she took the time to explain all the food and drink options and even created a 9th Anniversary shot for us! Beautiful river views as well. We look forward to the new menu for 2020.
We enjoy shift but feels they need to lift their attention to detail and expand menu with a few more plant based options to hit the mark
Gorgeous location with a wall of windows looking out to the river.
The food was okay but over priced. The service was fairly slow and I had booked a reservation and ended up with one of the worst tables in the dining area. Too much money for too little quality in my opinion.
I consider the place average. Average food, service, wine, atmosphere. Not bad, not great..just average
Very nice atmosphere. Quality of food was good, but the execution was poor. In my opinion... if you're going to charge at a premium, there should be a quality control system.
The menu was very limited by choice. The food that was ordered was very good. Service was excellent and delivery of our orders was quick. Parking was pricey and had to be in underground lot as street parking is impossible
Wonderful experience. The perfect place for a date night! Looking to make it a regular visit
We were there mid week so we took advantage of the half off bottle of wine. Enjoyed a great Rioja. My wife enjoyed a favorite of hers, the fantastically creamy decadent mac and cheese. My burger was very good but not up to what I have come to expect from Shift. Can't wait to come back.
Wonderful dinner date. It is my favorite squid in the city and we tried the chili ribs which were also delicious. Our mains were a delight of lamb and cornish hen! Great sunset view too!
Excellent food and service. Portion sizes were very good- filling but not too much.
Positives: a diverse food and drink selection (lots to choose from); good portion sizes for the appies (ribs & bread plate) and mains (flank steak & lamb).
Negatives / "Meh's": flank steak was tough (yes, it's a flank, but it was grisly and very chewy), the gravy used was too salty and covered the steak (could lay the steak on top of the gravy and let the diner dip it vs. slathering it on); service was more on par with a mid-range chain vs. a higher end independent (slow to greet and get drinks; appies came out before drinks / didn't do anything to add value or reinforce our selections either upon ordering or presentation); ambiance is lacking as we were seated right along the glass wall that separates the restaurant from the really bright art gallery lobby.
All in all, it wasn't bad; just not worth the $160. Nothing really stood out unfortunately.
The staff were friendly and the foods was amazing. The prices were a bit hi for lunch but I sure would go back again.
My wife and I had an excellent time celebrating her birthday with brunch at Shift. They were gracious and accommodating to our requests which included the need for a celiac-friendly menu and beverage pre-orders. The food was excellent, prepared flawlessly and in good time. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Out for an anniversary meal and it was tremendous. Great location, super food...and fantastic service!!!! Can't wait to go again.
Everything about it was a solid “good”, 4/5. The bottom line is that we got two scones, a burger, a grilled cheese sandwich, fries, a “salad” (lettuce with oil and vinegar) and two coffees, for $70.
I would recommend to anyone with extra $ to burn or wants to feel fancy.
Great food and views. Price was in line and service was good but not over the top great.
The table and chairs are nice but they tend to cheapen the experience. They make it feel more like a cafeteria than a mid to high end restaurant. This will not keep me from coming back just an observation. Best Regards.
Excellent! We all enjoyed our meal and the very professional service.
Good but not great especially for the price.
The reception staff was disappointing. Another customer and I stood to be greeted for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence. Bar staff were looking at us as they walked by, but no one bothered to call the host/hostess for us. The other patron left after being frustrated at the poor reception, but I had to stay since I made a reservation beforehand.
Our server JT was exceptional. He had excellent recommendations and was very attentive. The food and JT’s service were the redeeming qualities of this particular visit to Shift.
Had a great evening for a special occasion. Every item was delicious and the cocktails were stellar.
Beautiful location, interesting menu, fresh food, awesome service! Savannah was our waitress and she definitely made our evening a great experience
Beautiful views and great food
Very open cheery place with a great view of the South Saskatchewan River valley. Menu is rather limited, but still made up of wonderful contemporary tastes of Saskatchewan and Canada.
Our server was knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and not overbearing- just the way we like it.
The staff is awesome here- informed and informative without being overbearing
The food was also excellent - especially the mussels bowl!
All the food is made fresh in house, wonderful menu and excellent service
While the servers are polite and friendly, the menu is extremely limited and doesn’t have much choices for those with dietary restriction or with special dietary preference.
The setting is second to none! The menu selection is a bit limited but what the four of us had was aesthetic and tasty.
We like the place very much. The Ambiance was good. One thing we would suggest, as ovo-lacto vegetarians, is to add more meatless options and substitutions. Although the server was happy to adapt by simply omiting the meat in the dish, the food became less substantial.
Overpriced for what it is. Mac and cheese was passable, the beef tartare and fries was underwhelming. Smoked fish on toast highlight of the meal. We could have eaten better at Milestones for $50 less
