shoe & canoe PUBLIC HOUSE
We pride ourselves on our locally sourced Craft Beer list as our goal is to show our guests what an amazingly robust and diverse Craft Beer seen Calgary has to offer.
This is a beautifully decorated space and has an enjoyable atmosphere. It’s unfortunate that people don’t get to this end of town outside of the work week. The ambiance would have scored higher if there was more than 5 other tables eating...it’s a large space and it felt empty.
In regards to the food, it was terrific. The chicken wings were hot and crispy and came with 2 dipping sauces. The lamb entree was cooked perfectly, and the staff were able to make substitutions to accommodate my lifestyle.
The service was good, however there were a few instances where we were looking for our server. I would have rated higher if she came around a bit more.
Overall a great meal.
What you’d expect from a hotel restaurant. The decor is lovely, and it was very quiet. The food was ok, just nothing spectacular.
We had fantastic service. We were a group of 6, who became 8, two were celiac and one had mobility issues. We had to move tables (because of the mobility) and nothing we asked for or did was a problem. The servers were attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was fantastic and the food was good too! It was a lovely surprise for a hotel "pub". I'd go back!
Best place to go to have a great time with friends and family. No loud music so you can actually hear people talk. Food was amazing and staff was professional and friendly. Will definitively be going back!
Went here for a date night, but I didn't realize this was a hotel restaurant. I was looking for an upscale pub, (which is somewhat is), but it has a lot of travellers so is pretty casual, and very brightly lit. Not very cozy feeling. Food was decent and service was very good. I like that they have local craft beer on tap and good cocktails.
Excellent food. I really enjoyed the burger and my guest the pizza.
Excellent place for a social dinner.
Definitely a must visit.
Casual place attached to the Delta Marriott. Good food and excellent service.
So happy we decided to eat at hotel restaurant. I had wings and papardelle. We also had breakfast there. Excellent
Our last visit to the Shoe and Canoe was outstanding!
We had great service, flavorful food, and better - in wonderful price point too! Our seat was setup at the back of the area so we had great space to ourselves.
I also like the fact that they acknowledged our birthday celebration based on the notes on the reservation.
We will return soon!
It was a let down. Not what you expect from a Delta/Marriott hotel. Food was overpriced and average. We not be returning.
Enjoyed Shoe and Canoe. Good choices on the menu and our waiter went the extra mile with accommodating a special request we had for dessert. Really ppreciate restaurants like Shoe and Canoe that use local ingredients. Draft beer prices are a little out of line at $8, although one of us took advantage of the Happy Hour draft at $5. Food could have been served a bit hotter, but was tasty. Business was a little slow which it made it quieter dining for us and very nice decor and layout in the restaurant. Off the beaten track from Stephen Ave which was another reason for our choice and we will be back for sure.
This is my second visit and in both situations, the food was excellent with attentive service.
It was a fabulous experience. The food was delicious, the service was top notch. Everyone was so caring to us. Thanks Shoe and Canoe!!
Friendly and welcoming. Food was tasty and seating comfortable.
We were immediately treated very special and were given our choice of a couple beautiful cozy spots to sit near the fire. The manager and staff were friendly and attentive and helped make this a special occasion for sure. What was really nice is that we were surprised by a DELICIOUS dessert on the house to share to congratulate my daughter on the success we were celebrating. They were all great. I love this spot! (Oh... and somehow they keep it classy and warm and yet there are large TVs with the hockey on as well. So really everyone was happy. Great meal, quiet to visit, cozy seating, sports for the fans and the food was amazing. GREAT vegetarian choices for those who prefer them and really imaginative cocktails. We will be back for sure.
Thought the menu was very limited. Not much selection.
We only ordered from the breakfast menu so not able to comment on the food. Our waiter was almost too attentive but appreciated because we had a limited time.
Only issue was the front door kept being held open so we were cold.
Went to Shoe and Canoe for lunch. It's a rambling open area, and the construction in and around the hotel forces you to approach from the non-business end. The Hostess stand isn't obvious, which didn't really matter in our case as there was no staff around to greet anyone anyway. We stood for a minute or two, at which point I started wandering through the area hoping someone would notice me. Someone finally did.
I had a healthy bowl for lunch with beef tip. It was tasty, but expensive for what it was. My companion had the brisket pasta. I didn't ask him how it was, but it disappeared in record time, so I'll assume it was good. I tried to order dessert. They only had two things on the menu (as I remember), and I ordered the carrot cake from memory, only to find they didn't have it. My companion attempted to order decaf coffee. I missed a bit of that conversation, but the end result was that he didn't get it (something about getting coffee from the Starbucks across the lobby, and they don't have it or something like that).
After we finished, we waited a long time for our bill. With the rambling space and less than 50% occupancy, it seemed that our server's section reached all over the place so it took her a while to notice us.
So, overall food was good, selection not so good, and service as very hit and miss, mostly miss. Two lunch entrees and two coffees were $60 with tip and tax, which is pricy. With the open space and low turnout, it was great for quiet conversation.
Server was really nice, cool ambience, definitely a trendy little spot to eat at the Delta Hotel.
Nice restaurant with fabulous service and good food. My only complaint was the background music was a tad too loud for conversation.
We haven't been to the delta in quite a while so coming in and seeing the upgrades was really quite nice and the restaurant was very pleasant to sit in and be part of the space. Restaurant space is truly Hemet spot and they did it very very well.
