Feels like an overpriced hotel restaurant, the steaks and cocktails were nice, everything else was bland. Would not recommend.

We had just gotten engaged before our dinner. Our waiter made it extra special with champagne and dessert on him. Couldn’t have asked for a better night!

Duck was good, side of duck fat potatoes were OK. Wagyu from Idaho had a nice char and flavour but very different texture than wagyu from Japan.
Hard to find the restaurant as it’s behind/within ‘Braidwood’ and not labeled really clearly. Nice ambience once you’re in though, especially near the massive fireplace.

I live in Whistler and have been dining at Sidecut for special occasions since they first opened 10+ years ago (as it is our favourite restaurant in Whistler).
We typically always ask for our favourite server when we make the reservations, which we didn't get this time, so the service was not quite as good as usual. It was good, but not excellent.
The dining room decor and atmosphere is excellent since their recent renovations and is very modern in style. Which matches their food, as its not a traditional steakhouse.
The food was excellent as usual, but it is very expensive (hence why we cannot afford to visit very often), and the costs seem to increase with each visit.
Still a great experience, but not quite as good as usual.
Felt safe with all their COVID-19 protocols.

The atmosphere was amazing and our waitress was really nice. The steak tasted delicious but the fish we ordered wasn’t great, it was okay. They also helped celebrate my grandmother’s birthday in a wonderful way by bringing a plate of dessert. However, my family and I still felt full even two days after having dinner there and could feel the taste of the steak, so there must have been something in the food or the way it was cooked...

Food was good, overpriced but then it’s a Four Seasons. We had to wait 1/2 hour for our reservation and was not offered any compensation or even really a “sorry”. We have dined and stayed many times at the Four Seasons and do always find the service to be lacking and this definitely proved it. Our waitress was great. A courtesy call of the late reservation would have been nice or at least offer a drink while waiting.
Will probably not go back as there are other good options in Whistler for fine dining

I have always enjoyed Sidecut and now with the new decor ...even more. Great food, service and ambience. It was a date night out in Whistler. All covid protocols in place but didn’t need to ask and wasn’t constantly reminded of it. They did a great job and this is what you want for a special night out during extraordinary times.

Dined there on the 2nd night of their reopening and food and service were outstanding. Quite sure it is now the best restaurant in Whistler. Beef Tenderloin, duck, mussels, and chocolate souffle were all outstanding choices. I will be back.
I had the mixed seafood and the steelhead and sable fish were exceptional. The Dark Chocolate Soufflé was superb. The meal overall was sensational and it was a great closure to my staycation.
Terrible experience. They should have mentioned when booking the the restaurant is under construction and we’d be sitting in the foyer of a ballroom!
Kitchen was miles away (confirmed by our server) so everything took WAY more time than normal. 2.5hrs for a family of four??? Insane. Paid thru the nose for wagu beef med-rare and it came to the table blue and cold. Rib-eye was also questionable - didn’t look like any rib eye I’ve ever had before.
Took 30min for them to figure out the payment machine - eventually we had to go to the front desk of the hotel to pay?!
For the prices they charge, all of this is unacceptable.

Restaurant was undergoing reservation so the tables were in a hallway near the convention centre. There was no mention of this anywhere when we booked it. All dressed up for a fancy dinner at an expensive restaurant and we ended up eating in a hallway. Zero ambience. Zero music. Pretty frustrating experience.
Great food and great service but the temporary setup in the conference hallway area leaved much to be desired in terms of ambiance. I get that the restaurant is working on renos and the new space would be great but some heads up on the revised and temporary seating arrangements would have been appreciated. We'll be back once the renos are done and look forward to a better vibe.
We arrived with a reservation but was asked to either sit at the high tables or wait for a table. We did not notice any reservation signs on the tables despite having a reservation.
We ordered the paella and had the following issues:
1) It was served in the cast iron pan only with no serving plate below, the pan is scalding hot and can only be moved around with a cloth
2) It should be served with some friction below it, while scooping the paella, the cast iron pan was spinning in circles
3) Since there is shellfish with shells, there should be a discard bowl for shells
We also ordered steak, and I would have preferred it to be served pre-cut.
Exceptional from the first minute we got there. Was for our anniversary and they treated us like royalty. Everything was perfect, steaks, drinks....
Screaming children, overcooked steaks. Not my preference in steakhouses.

Having avoided Sidecut for more than a year due to a bad experience, we gave it another try on a Monday night and were pleased to experience all the characteristics that made Sidecut one of our favorite dining spots in Whistler: great steak, exceptional service, relaxing setting.

Food is typical of a higher end steakhouse. What’s not typical is the underwhelming selection of overpriced pedestrian wine. They need a new Sommelier or F&B manager.
Sidecut is one of our go to restaurants while on vacation in Whistler. The Service is by far some of the best in Whistler. There is usually a band playing close by in the bar which provides a lovely ambiance and a lively celebratory environment perfect for a vacation atmosphere.
The cocktails are amazing, the Caesar Salad is the best I've ever had, the steaks with choices of rubs and accoutrements are outstanding!
Take the time to 'get-away' and enjoy what Sidecut has to offer.

What a hidden gem for dinner in Whistler. We ate at a number of 5 star restaurants and left the last night to eat ‘in’ at our hotel and were pleasantly surprised at just how good the meal was.
Great steakhouse right in the four seasons. Just amazing steaks and food

I’m not sure how Sidecut qualifies to be steak house if they grill your meat on a space heater aka an infrared grill. I called ahead to inquire about the type of grill and a clueless hostess promised to inquire and revert, but never did. Just next door at Fairmont, Wild Flower, offer gas grilled steak, which isn’t ideal either, but it least it’s cooked in an open flame with proper smell and taste. Very disappointed.
This was my 3rd time eating at Sidecut and I was not disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious and always cooked to perfection. The staff is well trained and deliver premium service. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a wonderful meal in Whistler

Lots of confusion about where our table was and we unexpectedly ended up in the lounge area. Food and service were very good but we didn't have access to the full menu we expected.

The table waiter was very attentive and explained the restaurant's specialty dishes.
The waiting time between placing the order of our dinner selection and the presentation of our meal was quite short. The meal was delicious; we asked for the tenderloin steak and it was beautifully cooked according to our request. Our choice of accompanying mushroom and broccolini vegetables in flavour-filled sauces was outstandingly prepared by the chef. This is a restaurant that we have returned to year after year for the past decade on our annual winter vacation because we have never been disappointed by the quality of the meals, nor by the courteous and attentive table waiters. Bravo! See you next year!
