   Very rarely does exquisite food meet exquisite service. I had invited friends and extended family visiting vancouver on June 4th Sunday for lunch. to the west broadway (Kitsalano) location. 1) Great ambience and fresh and warm food. 2) I requested a different chai for tasting including mango lassi and everyone in the group including kids loved the food. 3) They were very speedy in the service for second, third and subsequent rounds on the Chai feast menu where you can try pretty much everything on the menu. Bravo, not sure how much you can improve the best, but have been a customer for almost a decade and will continue visiting.....

   Loved the food. Service was quick and friendly. Biggest issue was that we found that the hard wooden chairs were uncomfortable. By the end of our dinner we were both sore and uncomfortable.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here! The ambience is fabulous, from the lovely warm and inviting decor and the soft guitar played by a skilled guitarist. Our servers were all excellent and knowledgeable about the food choices on the menu. We were offered a delicious cup of complimentary chai while we waited for our table. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal - the Dahl soup and my entree titled “The Gypsy” was delicious! If we are back in the area again we will be sure to come back again for another visit.

    The service was very kind and the food very filling, although upon receiving our orders the server mixed up our plates, which we didn't notice until we'd started eating. A bit too crunchy of cauliflower for my tastes, but the warming chai and dahl certainly made up for that. Whilst the ambiance is wonderful, I would have preferred that the music played during the performer's breaks have been a bit quieter. Nonetheless, I really appreciate that the restaurant supports local musicians!

    The food was delicious. I had one of the rice bowls; the server gave excellent advice on which toppings would compliment each other. Other members of our group had the roti and found it very tasty. Great service and a nice quiet dining ambiance.

    One of my favourite places when I lived in Vancouver, now I go back almost every time I visit the city. Live music on the weekends is such a nice treat. I can never decide on what dishes I want most, so often I go with the Chai Feast, but I really do like getting the roti wraps too. The staff are friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town!

    The spices hit their mark resulting in one of my best ever experience at East. I overate with the tasty list off the feast menu but it was just so darn good. Will be back soon. Thanks East.

    Positive: Service was great, music was pleasant, food was good, decor was calming. Two negative things: I was given a dirty wine glass and I find the benches way too narrow to sit on, and I am a small person, making it very uncomfortable after a while!!

    The food is phenomenal but having 8 different gals visited our table for orders, water (too often), plate clearing, etc caused a lot of confusion for our orders and did not provide a $$$ experience. One waitress was down right snappy and condescending with me as she did not understand how the prior waitress was taking our orders / how we were ordering a la carte. Too bad as the food is wonderful. I often will tip a lot if the service is food is so-so but when the service is awful, it takes away from the food. (p.s. the one gal who seemed like she might be a supervisor did comp our meal but even that was poorly communicated amongst the 7 other girls making that part odd as well).

    The atmosphere is something special, transports you to a different world from Vancouver. Service was impeccable, every server knew how far along we were in our meal and what to offer us next. Value was amazing for the Chai Feast but we didn’t realise it was all you can eat so came with some food already in our stomach.     Beautiful space. Feels intimate and romantic, even though it's a large space. They had live music, which normally irritates me, being old and curmudgeonly, but it was non-intrusive and conversation could still be had. The food was really tasty, and reasonable value. Service was attentive and professional. I would definitely go back, and wish they'd open a location in North Vancouver

    The food was delicious and the ambience was lovely! My only complaint is that the seats are not comfortable and some tables only have benches (no chair back) and we were not given the option to get a table with backs on the chairs... not ideal for middle-aged bodies! Other than that, I would highly recommend!
