Sizzling Tandoor features a royal array of authentic North Indian cuisine. We are committed to preserving the culture and tradition of the region with the utmost standards within culinary experiences. Our versatile menu offers a selection of fresh and natural ingredients, wholesome sauces, and flavourful spices. Following the success of our first downtown location in 2012, we have been named the Best Indian Restaurant in Victoria for six years running. Tandoor means “clay oven.” It is traditionally used for the baking of bread, meat, poultry and fish. The clay oven - for oil and fat-free cooking - is practical and energy-efficient. Today’s taste and health conscious consumers will find Tandoor cooking truly compatible and modern. All of our food is natural and freshly-prepared daily on the premises with no additives or preservatives. Our Chef’s endeavor to create a large variety of savory clay oven barbecued dishes and exotic curries for your tasting journey.

We appreciate the excellent options to modify vegetarian dishes to vegan. We always really enjoy the okra, eggplant (brinjal) and spinach (saag) dishes. Always fresh, always so delicious. This was the Uptown restaurant. Quite a noisy large table near us, but that's not something the restaurant staff can help... This is our #1 go-to restaurant for Indian cuisine in Victoria.

The food was delicious and our server was lovely and accommodating. My only issue was the restaurant wasn't that busy and the table reserved for us was in the worst location ever. We were able to choose another table and that worked out well for us. Overall a good experience and the Naan bread was out of this world!

Little evidence of "woman-run" operation; skimpy outfit on waitress was not appreciated by the women. The filled naan (paneer & spinach) was chewy, flavourless & greasy. In fact, most dishes were not flavourful. We selected 6 small appetizer-size dishes (happy hour priced) which were ample for four. The green yoghurt-based dip was nice. Price was good. Maybe our 5pm time is too early. The beer (Hoyne's Dark Matter) was happy hour priced.

We arrived, and the place was almost empty. That’s never a good sign, but the food was really good. My wife did not like the wine she ordered, and they replaced it with no problem, and the service was excellent. The ambience is marginal , but I’d recommend it for the food and service!

High prices, mediocre food and watered down drinks.

Awesome butter chicken and mixed vegetable tikka masala. Vegetable pakoras lack spice and chicken pakoras have no indian flavour at all. Great happy hour prices. Good service.

Our server, a young man, was excellent. The diet coke could have been fizzier but everything else was great.

The food was fantastic and definitely tons of it, great value. However, we had to approach the bar and ask for our own drinks as we were ignored for about 20 minutes after being seated, while the table that was sat right behind us, after us, enjoyed their drinks and good service.

My dinner and entire experience at the Uptown location was a disaster. I have been to this location before and it was good. We placed our order. When it arrived we pointed out that a garlic nan was missing as the waiter forgot to place that part of the order. We only ordered 4 items and a drink; it was not busy and the order was small so forgetting that one item was odd. The waiter was dismissive and not concerned. He tried to pretend that it as still being prepared. I do not believe this. The food was just ok. When we were done, we asked the waiter to pack up our food. He acted ultra surprised and awkward. His response was "Uh yeahhhh that looks 4 boxes." He raced away and came back to table and placed 4 containers with lids on the table; he sprinted away without a word before I had a chance to ask him to package it for us. The dt location ALWAYS packages your leftovers for you. There was a lot of food left. I could see us having to pack up one samosa, but packing 4 containers at the table is unreasonable and poor service. The place was dead. There was a staff member on their break at a table in front of us devouring what looked like fries while glued to their cell phone. Staff were chatting amongst themselves. Brutal. When the waiter returned, I asked him why we had to pack our food at the table as the Sizzling dt always packed our food for us with no vibe. His reply was that two weeks ago a customer complained about not getting all of their food. The phrase "they like got shorted and were mad...yeah..." I cut him off and advised that we have never had to pack our own food at this Sizzling or the one of Johnson the 50+ times we ate there. He offered no reply and shrugged dismissively. He enjoyed seeing us frustrated. He was lying. I would be embarrassed to offer this level of service. I am not sure how a server can keep their job when the behave this way. Won't be back. The Jonhson Street location we normally go to is exceptional.

Hi Tom, I am sincerely sorry about your experience. All of our locations are family owned & operated with the same standards in place. By no means is this a standard for our establishment. We typically pack food for patrons unless a patron insists on packing their own meal for personal reasons. If you send me an email at with details of the day & time roughly you were dining with us it will assist in my follow up with our staff. Many thanks, Kirn Bawa General Manager

Food quality and taste was exceptional. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Clean restaurant. Good beer and cocktail selection. Entree portions are generous so shareable. Curried Mussells a very exotic and scrumptious dish. The Cobra beer was a pleasant surprise. Overall extremely impressed!
