I don't think they were prepared for Mother's Day, which led to a long wait for food. Usually, when food is taking a long time, servers come frequently to check on you, but that didn't happen. We sat for quite a while with empty water and drink glasses. They should at least be checking on you. Food, when it came, was acceptable but not outstanding. The plus was a lovely setting with a covered outdoor seating area and heaters. I know staffing is an issue at restaurants these days, so I will give them grace and try again on a less busy day. I have a feeling that eating here is usually a great experience, so I would recommend going on an ordinary day, and avoiding days when a lot of people go out to eat.

We dined on a mid-week early evening, outdoors, so it wasn't busy. But the server was attentive and helpful, the food excellent. The outdoor seating was covered and heated. Very good experience.

Well I do not believe the staff were prepared for Easter it took an hour and a half to get our food and they brought food separately so some people were done eating while others were still waiting. my granddaughter ordered a burger from the kids menu and it was raw inside so they had to make her another burger, my food was cold and it got there after everyone was done. The waitress gave us dessert on her because of all the problems the dessert was delicious. But it was a bad experience that was the first time my family had went there. We were very disappointed with everything

We are very sorry you were disappointed in our service on Easter Sunday. We were fully staffed and things went well all day long, until around 1:30-2 PM when we allowed OpenTable to accept too many reservations, causing the kitchen to get behind for a bit. We know our kitchen does not have the capacity to serve both a full loft and patio at the same time, including the other dining areas. Unfortunately, we screwed up, and we apologize profusely and hope you give us another chance.

I met up with a buddy for a Saturday morning breakfast and mimosas. Everything was great; the authentic historic ambience is beyond compare. Service and overall attentiveness was very good. Highly recommended.

This place lives up to it's name....it's a "hidden" gem! Excellent service, friendly staff, delicious food, and an extensive beer, wine and cocktail list. My husband and I loved that they take reservations and also have live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. We had a wonderful time Saturday and will definitely be back again soon.

Service was marginal. The waiter couldn’t tell us what type of wine was on the menu and clearly wasn’t going to find out. We also asked him to split the check and he didn’t. One member of our party ordered steak medium rare and it was medium. The mashed potatoes were boring, the asparagus was overdone and the clams were tasteless. We’ve eaten here several times before and enjoyed the meal. Not sure we’ll be going again.

Went there for a valentines day dinner, and had the V-day special for two. The staff was friendly, responsive and we were served quickly. The highlight were a great bottle of petite Syrah, and perfectly done frank fries. We had the steak and the salmon options and both left much to be desired--salmon was under done, and drizzled with maple syrup??? very strange, steak was marginally better, but had LOT of thick mushroom gravy. Both options had asparagus as a side and that too was under seasoned and under done.

What a great breakfast! Starting with a great Lette and an amazing omelet.. Service was great with a friendly staff who knows the menu well. Great old world feel with a cozy fireplace. A must experience when in Fair Haven WA.

I scheduled a reservation days prior with a special request for a booth in lower alley level. We entered through the lower level and I was surprised the booths were taken, I told hostess and said we would wait but she said she had just seated the guests about 15 minutes prior. She also said she missed the request. I was not happy and would had left but our third party had not arrived, so we were seated in the noisy bar where I did not want to be. What's the point of having a request box if you don't bother to read? I like your resturant but was disappointed at your lack of attention. I won't recommend at this time.

We love the Skylark! One of our favorite restaurants in all of Bellingham. We go there every time we get to come up and see our son who attends Western. The food is absolute delicious, the service is impeccable and the restaurant itself is interesting and unique. I’ve had multiple meals on the menu and have never been disappointed.

We made a reservation well in advance and arrived a few minutes early. There were many empty tables and yet we were seated right next to the kitchen entry! We heard clanging and kitchen talk thoughout our meal, which was barely warm. Not returning!

Skyler is absolutely my favorite café in Bellingham. Got to enjoy a lovely breakfast out with my brother and sister-in-law. The service was excellent and friendly. And, as always the food was outstanding.
