   We were at Smith & Wollensky 17 years ago to the day on my wife's birthday. Window table over the Chicago River. It was a literal "boat show" on Memorial Day. The river was extremely active the whole time. The Grey Goose Up Martinis with a Hackleback Sturgeon 7G caviar bump served on a blini was pleasant. The Signature 10 oz. filet mignon was medium to perfection. The sides menu had a variety of choices. The service was excellent. An 18% gratuity was included with the bill. I gave our server, James S, extra $$$ for his efforts. He took an excellent picture of my wife and I facing the Chicago River with the Chicago Theater marquee clearly visible in the background resulting in an outstanding memory. All in all a total 5 star experience.

   Service and ambience were stellar but it stops there. Unfortunately food was bland for the morrocan salmon it was a tad undercooked and needed a lot more flavors, definitely would not call it morrocan. Not to mention salmon was served on the colder side. The truffle Mac and cheese given how popular it was did not meet my expectations, it was served somewhat cold and it was not cheesy as Mac and cheese should be. The only good thing we enjoyed was the clam chowder. Other than that for such an expensive restaurant to have cold and bland food is disappointing and definitely shocking

   Some difficulties cooking the fillet to a true medium. Had the surf and turf with lobster tails. Fillet was more rare definitely not medium. Manager asked just after we received it and started to eat how everything was? We said fine because we didn’t want to send the steak back and let the lobster tails get cold or tough. Just too expensive at $ 160 for 2 people. After we were done we called over the manager again to let him know the temperature of the steak was not accurate. He got upset with us because he said he had already asked us. He didn’t realize that sometimes sending food back could further ruin a meal experience and that we were only alerting him to the the kitchen falling short. When you are in Chicago the steak capital and your chef cannot get a simple fillet medium you have a bit of a problem. Unfortunately this was the second consecutive time we dined and the steak was improperly undercooked. Regrettably we will pass in the future. We were only trying to help with our communication but were admonished for it. Sorry but good luck for your future success.

   Our table was really looking forward to dining at Smith & Wollensky as it is was a favorite among many of our diners, however, we were left pretty disappointed with our experience. Our service was subpar with what would be expected for the price point. Our server multiple times said they would be back in a few minutes to take our drink, food or dessert order, however would take nearly 15-20 minutes to return each time. We even asked a manager to send our server order so we could order and they did not come over for another 10-15 minutes after us asking. While they later apologized for their busyness which was appreciated it didn’t make up for the lack of friendliness and promptness that was felt throughout 95% of the dining experience. It was also disappointing as we watched the server next to us be incredibly friendly and attentive to their tables. The food was good, however, did not make up for the overall dining experience we had. Overall just left feeling bummed.

   I requested a window seat for my birthday, we were not seated there at first but the hostess said we could wait 45mins for one. The wait turned out to be only 15mins and we waited at the bar so it wasn’t bad. Very polite staff, great food as always, best views. Huge birthday slice of cake which was a nice surprise.

    My experience was terrible! The service is very friendly but my table was in the bad place! The salon had a lot of person and I told was my wedding anniversary. Had one saloon by side with a lot of good tables and the hostess told me is not available but is available. I’m totally disappointed

    I understand it a high end restaurant but I think it is way overpriced. I had the opportunity to dine in other 2 steakhouses in Chicago and had the very same quality of service and food for 20% less

    Overpriced not a good value. I had to send my steak back twice both times over cooked. Could not get medium right more like well done. Food was good but not great for the price. Service was excellent

    The patio at Smith and Wollensky's is a great place for an excellent meal overlooking the Chicago River. We are not steak lovers, but their seafood is terrific.

    Quick summary - pricey, but SO worth it. We came in for our anniversary dinner, and were treated so well from start to finish. Our waiter Dave was fantastic - very knowledgeable, kind and upbeat, and the manager came by to personally wish us a happy anniversary (saying it's the ultimate compliment for us to celebrate with them). Not to mention a free desert on top! All in all, the ambience is great with incredible views of the river, and their dry-aged ribeye was the best steak I have ever had. As I mentioned, it's pricey (especially for out-of-towners like myself that are less used to this level of dining), but it was so worth it for our big night and we could not have asked for a better experience!

    The food was unbelievable, and the staff was super attentive, the 5-star experience that was expected. We arrived an hour early, and they accommodated us with no problem. If you want an amazing steak, apps, an immaculate wine list, and delicious sides, this is the place you need to visit. 10/10 recommend

    Yesterday we were very excited to dine at this restaurant as they are known for their steaks and experiences. It was my partners first time here and she ordered the a boneless New York strip medium well. Once we gotten our order, we immediately noticed the difference between my steak which was medium well and her which was dry, hard, and cooked well done. When we mentioned it to the waitress, she apologized and informed the manager as she could see it was not what we ordered. The manager apologized for the inconvenience and said that it would be a wait but he would put in a new order for us. After completion of the meal, we notice we were still charged for a steak that was made completely wrong. After numerous times of visiting this restaurant and supporting the business, i thought it would’ve been handled differently and the steak would have been comped. I was shocked to see it wasn’t. That’s the only reason why I couldn’t give full stars for food.

    Our food took over 45 minutes. The order was wrong and while the server was nice, he was not attentive after taking our order. The view is great, but there are plenty of better options in Chicago if you want a first-class dining experience.

    I had the 2 petite filets and truffle mac and cheese. Some bites of the filet melted in my mouth. The 2 smashed pineapple martinis went down very well! My son, Ben,was with me. He had the gorgonzola steak entray and we shared the mac and cheese. It was pricey but I knew that, from the on line menu.

    Went for Mother’s Day brunch. Service was outstanding (Michelle) and food was on point. Kids were treated awesome and we were sat on the window with tiger view. Very nice afternoon.
