With over 20 years of experience in the kitchen, Nicholas McCann, now Executive Chef of Society Cafe, has always been passionate about food. Drawing inspiration from his family recipes, Nicholas quickly fell in love with the culinary world at a young age and began his career at The French Culinary Institute in NYC. Since then, he has worked with some of the city’s most acclaimed chefs and restaurants, including working alongside Chef Luis Bollo of Salinas before moving on to become an Executive Chef at TESSA, The Milling Room, and Corkbuzz.

    I like this place, but the food quality is going down, maybe the chief doesn’t care anymore? All the details in the cooking are all less of care, it is obvious. But the price is up!

    Very nice setting, excellent service, but brunch was so-so. There were six of us, and no one particularly enjoyed the food. It wasn't bad per se, but bland.

    Service was impeccable! Our waitress Kim put such thought and care into every interaction, it felt like we were dining privately. Food was delicious and timely. I cannot stress how phenomenal the staff was through our entire dining experience. A special shout out to Kim for individualizing our experience and making a special evening out even better.

    Honestly this is my go to restaurant in nyc when I’ve waited too long to book something or if I’m not sure where to take someone. The food is always great, the service is always great, the drinks, the ambiance, all great. It’s strangely always availability when I’m in a pinch (which is cause for concern in most cases but not here). The location is great too because it’s a perfect jump-off spot to anywhere in the city if you want to go out after. It’s a secret gem, in my opinion, and I selfishly don’t want the masses to discover it! They deserve the credit though, so here I am :)

    Hidden gem! From the street it doesn’t look like there could be a big bright, yet cozy, dining room waiting for you under the sign for Society Cafe but if you follow the signs you’ll be rewarded. The brunch menu was delicious -the brioche French toast might sound like a sugary nightmare but it is incredible. The toast itself is not sweet but the toppings add the right amount of sugar, flavor and texture. You won’t go wrong with their French-style omelette either. YUM.

    The eggs tasted farm fresh and were so fluffy! The coffee mugs are big and the coffee tasty. Service was gracious and the decor gorgeous.

    The room is very pretty with its large skylight. Service was attentive, friendly and excellent. We were there for breakfast, and I ordered eggs benedict, thinking it would be a good choice to establish a baseline for the quality of the kitchen. I’d call the dish very good, but not spectacular - I felt like there was a bit of tang missing from the hollandaise (maybe needed more lemon?). Nonetheless, very good. Would recommend and will return to try other menu items.

    The restaurant wasn't overly crowded when we were there, yet it was extremely loud. The room is beautiful, but I wish there was better noise reduction aspects.

    The restaurant was beautiful. Service was great in the beginning but the food took a while to come out. I ordered the truffle BEC and it was an open face sandwich with truffle powder and one singular piece of bacon. The sandwich came with a side of potatoes and they were bland and greasy. I used the bathroom and there was no toilet paper or soap either. Left the restaurant feeling unsatisfied.

    I nice Brunch spot from off the beaten path Quaint Boutique Hotel soaked in romance. Granola, yogurt and berries was a nice start, Wild Mushroom Omelet and gruyere was delicious the truffles eggs were a disappointment. Service and ambience was excellent

    Loved everything about this restaurant! The staff was very accommodating and still sat us even though we were almost an hour late due to road closures for Pride. Quick service, delicious food, great drinks. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and the booths even had outlets so we were able to charge our phones. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone!!!

    Cozy place to have a conversation and enjoy food. Sun drenched dining area makes one feel the outdoor, but still enjoying the cool indoors. Service is outstanding so is the food. Crispy rice cakes were delicious. Highly recommended.

    We had a lovely Mother's Day brunch at Society Café. The restaurant is cozy and inviting with deep booths, warm teal accents, exposed brick walls, an expansive wood fireplace, hanging plants, and sunshine streaming in. The noise level was subdued and perfect for relaxing as well as for relaxed conversation. A friendly server came to our table right away offering drinks immediately and the service from there was smooth. The food came out at a nice steady pace, nothing missing or forgotten, and the staff were attentive. Highlights of the meal were the chickpea fries--an unexpected runaway favorite--and the mushroom omelette. Would definitely recommend Society Café when you'd like a cozy spot to meet up with family or friends.
