Sean was exceptional...we had a lovely brunch and his attention to detail was perfect.
My girlfriends and I attended Sofia on a Saturday night during the holiday season. When we arrived we had to wait 15 minutes for our table to be ready and another 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken. The restaurant was packed and there were a lot of large parties that needed attending to. We ordered our apps and mains at the same time and they were served an hour apart. Our server was tending to many other tables and we were obviously overlooked. I asked to speak to the manager on duty and no one came to the table until we were paying our bill that we had to ask for twice. When he arrived he did not ask what our concerns were but instead asked us how it felt to be served by one of the best in the city. Overall the food was great although the timing between the courses was lengthy. The ambiance and music was lively and festive. The restaurant was either overbooked or understaffed. We would only go back for drinks as the service was sub par.
I loved the decor. The food. The drinks. The vibe. Well done.
Excellent all ! It was my second time and I brought this time my husband and friends . What a great choice ! Thank you to the chef the staff and to the owner who invested in the atmosphere decor and training . Jazmin A.
Enjoyed a great evening with friends who had never been to Sofia’s. The food, ambiance and service were wonderful and repeat visits are sure to happen... as are recommendations to other friends to come enjoy all that Sofia has to offer! Special mention should be made for Donaldo, our waiter, who was attentive, helpful but also discreet. He made sure our every need was met- while allowing us time to enjoy the experience. Buon Natale!
I love this place. However, it only takes one server to tarnish an otherwise perfect experience. One member of our party was gluten free as a result of severe allergies. The server made no attempt to understand his needs or make any helpful suggestions. We made the necessary adjustments but felt like we were somehow imposing. Our food came and (of course) the server had messed up my friend’s order so he took it back to the kitchen to be fixed but by the time he returned with his meal, we were almost finished. He did not even offer an apology. We also noticed the server smiling and interacting with other tables, in contrast to his interaction with us. The service was very disappointing.
Had a wonderful experience, couldn’t of been better all around! Looking forward to returning.
This was our second dinner at Sofia. We loved everything about this place the quality of food, good wines, excellent service and a perfect atmosphere. As soon as we finished dinner we booked the next one.
The perfect place for a special occasion or just a dinner with friends.
We really recommend this restaurant to our friends.
Try it and you will not be disappointed.
While expensive, the restaurant offers a beautiful setting, hip music, great cocktails and fantastic food. We will be back.
This was our first dinner at Sofia. Very impressed. The ambiance, the food, the drinks and service very spectacular. Looking forward to our next visit. In our opinion, this is the best Italien Restaurant in Toronto right now!
Lovely experience! We will definitely be back soon!
Great atmosphere. Great jazz. Refined People.
Service excellent. Food could be improved. Portions are very small.
I went there for dinner on a Sunday. Staff was very good.
The food: quality & menu options left something to be desired.
The seafood tower and grilled seafood were well below my standards (compared to similar) restaurants (Habour 60, Michael's, Jacobs, etc). Alternatively, the burrata was amazing!!
Bolognese (with wild boar) was average. The carciofi (artichokes) which is a hard dish to make were very good.
Every thing was excellent but price was high
Overall great. The food was excellent, crowd was the typical Yorkville mix. Sommelier was great however our food server was very strange and less then par.
Loved the food, but the table service was spotty; not very attentive so empty dishes crowded the already limited table space. Would visit again, perhaps midday or for their brunch selection.
Ambiance was great however the quality of food was very dissatisfying.
This is my first posted review. I travel and eat at great and not so great restaurants regularly and don’t have an incredibly high bar - I get the restaurant world is difficult. However this place has inspired me to write a review to hopefully push it into oblivion to be replaced with a place in my neighbourhood that actually cares about its customers. I showed up with friends and waited 70 min for the bottle of wine I brought to appear at my table and 110 min for apps and 130 min for mains - apparently. We bailed after the apps as we didn’t believe our food would ever appear and were tired of being the bad people at a “busy” restaurant who should just accept their incompetence. I have had bad experiences before on busy night at various places but the staff fixed it with various kicksaves and apologies but this place just doesn’t care or doesn’t empower its people to fix problems. I can’t believe we were made to feel like it is our fault and I have never had to prematurely leave a restaurant before because I just lost confidence in their caring about my experience. I am a huge supporter of the TO restaurant scene but need to opine on the cultural cancer of this place.
Looooved everything about the evening , the food, music, vibe... The one disappointment at the very beginning of the evening was that my girlfriend and I both ordered a classic martini and we both felt that it tasted watered down with not a lot of vodka in it. We chose not to complain, but the waitress came by and asked us how we were enjoying our cocktails. We decided to be honest with her. She told us that she was going to let the bar tender know. She returned a moment later and said the bartender said he put a fair amount of vodka in the drinks......wrong answer and disappointing. The overall experience would have resulted in five stars has this not occurred. In my experience, if the waitress asks you a question and you are honest with your answer, it should be remedied.
The food took to long, we waited 45 min for our main course. Then when it did come out one meal didn’t arrive until 6 of finished our meal. I was very disappointed.
Beautiful restaurant. It was ok overall but food was not exceptional. Crowd was odd. Service was spotty. I probably wouldn’t go back.
Overall the food was delicious, but overpriced. Menu was not that unique and while our server was good, drinks took long, empty plates sat on the table well after we were done, and little mistakes were made.
Service was amazing. Our server (Can’t remember his name but I believe he’s Italian) was so lovely! Ambiance is nice. Has a very ‘It crowd in NYC’ feel. People dressed well but your typical, everyone with a Chanel or Saint Laurent purse lol... kind of basic, but hey, I get it ...
Now for the important stuff: the food. I had the special of the day, a white truffle spaghetti. Apparently the white truffle was was pulled from the grown in Croatia literally 48 hours earlier and flown in. It was simple but sooo delicious! Our table also ordered the spaghetti pomedoro, Wagu, and agnolotti - all were amazing!
Wagu was cooked to medium rare perfection!
Overall, great experience and would go back again!
Excellent food and great atmosphere/scene. The service was also top notch. Depending on where you're seated, you may be very close to the table next to you, but in some ways that added to the atmosphere.
Service was good up until dessert. We waited 15 minutes for our tiramisu, needless to say it was a poor ending to our night. Table beside us was extremely loud and music was very loud. We were barely able to hear each other scream to talk.
Restaurant was not so busy but we got a table next to the entrance to the washroom. Food was very good.
Great service! Good atmosphere for a night out and great food
Brought my wife here for her birthday with friends & family, service was slow, our orders were placed incorrectly and took forever to get the bill. worst experience will never show up again.
We were 6 friends who went to a mattine at the theatre and wanted dinner. Read great reviews and so I booked it a week prior. The service was impeccable...Donato took care of us. Not only was he naturally super friendly, pleasant and attentive, he was very helpful with helping us narrow down our indecisive minds. He was fantastic! An asset to Sofia for sure...when we re visit we will ask for him. The food was exceptional and the ambiance perfect. We were the first seating at 6 but by the time we left it was almost full. Great energy! Now you might say it was pricey for 6 people $1100 but that included a bottle of wine and a few martinis plus digestives at the end. A wonderful experience. I would highly recommend it. Will be returning 😊
Love the food, the decor, can accept the high price, but the noise level was just too much to bear! Too bad. Since there were 7 of us it was really difficult to communicate.
We may go back in the summer when we could sit outside.
Can’t do the inside again.
This was my first visit at Sofia and it is a beautiful restaurant. I went for brunch and had the steak & eggs which were good. Our waiter Sean was super attentive and very friendly. Would recommend for a girls day or a date spot!
Sofia was a great spot to celebrate my friend's birthday! They brought a complimentary birthday dessert and were super friendly.
Our server Sean is the best. All my guest were satisfied with his service!!
Despite the recent bad reviews, we loved this restaurant!!! From start to finish, the service was professional and attentive, food was delicious, wine was great. And of course the venue is beautiful. We will definitely be back.
So disappointed, the food was below average for such a posh environment
Toronto’s food bar is high
Service started out fantastic but tapered off
Would come back for a drink at the beautiful bar however
I would try this restaurant again but had the following concerns;
Cocktail was slow in coming so I didn’t have a chance to enjoy it before my appetizer was served
I allowed myself to be up-sold into ordering a side based on the waitor’s input re the size of the secondi-but it was too much, not required at all
I found that the Kitchen was little heavy handed with the salt
our table was 30 minutes late. Food service was slow. Music was too loud. But the service was great.
