We are regulars at Sotto Sopro and always have a wonderful experience. The updated interiors and amazing service make it a memorable experience. I am vegetarian and my boyfriend is a carnivore and there's food for everyone! We would highly recommend Sotto Sopro!
Outstanding in every way. I had the ceasar salad and halibut on pumpkin puree with gnocchi. Superb.
I was at Sotto Sopra last week. Great place, good food and extraordinary service. I will definitely be back.
Great small restaurant for authentic Italian cuisine. Nice for an intimate date night.
We come in town Baltimore once a month from the Beach in DE and we love Sotta Sopra. The food is always delicious. The service the past two times has been average. WE will likely come back due to teh exceptional food but you need to get some staff in there that can serve the tables better
My wife and I went here for our 10th anniversary and were more than pleased. First, they were able to change our original reservation time when our show ended earlier than expected.
Our waiter was very friendly, fast and helpful.
The food was amazing. They even brought us champagne (twice) and a small dessert (on top of the ones we ordered) with a sparkler to help us celebrate. We were really surprised when the bill came and we were not charged for the champagne and the desserts.
Will definitely eat here again!!!
First time at this restaurant and it was very nice. Good ambiance, food and service. We will go back.
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences in Baltimore
I have been to Sotto Sopra several times for dining before a Peabody Conservatory performance. Consistently wonderful! Great food and thoughtful service.
This was one of my favorite dining experiences ever. Delicious food, wonderful service and exquisite ambience. The live jazz was an added bonus. I wish I was in town for one of their live opera prefix meals. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
I went to dinner for four before seeing Les Mis at the hippodrome, and we had an fantastic time! Our waiter was knowledgeable, generous, and provided many personalized recommendations. The staff were all very proficient and attentive. The food was amazing, fresh made pasta is like nothing else! The pumpkin ravioli was like nothing I’ve ever tasted before- it felt like a special meal. The polenta di formaggi was incredible. We will all be returning! Ciao bella!
Have been coming for years and always count on a good meal and excellent service. A long drive but worth it.
Upon arriving, it didn't start out well. We stood at the host(ess) desk waiting to be acknowledged for over 10 minutes. The restaurant wasn't even busy so that was unacceptable. When making the reservation, I indicated it was for a birthday which also went unacknowledged. It also took a while for our server to bring water. However, once things finally got started, it was a good experience. Our server was very good, not constantly in your face but would pop by once in a while to check on us. We both ordered the special Halibut with pumpkin puree and ricotta gnocchi. Excellent choice! The gnocchi was so light and airy. The halibut was cooked to perfection and thankfully not over-cooked. The pumpkin puree was a nice touch. My biggest complaint was the wine list, especially by the glass. I'm not a big drinker due to migraines, so I have to drink either a semi-sweet white or a pinot noir. There wasn't a single semi-sweet riesling on the menu. I would have preferred it to the pinot noir with the halibut. It would have been nice to be acknowledged for my birthday too.
We had a delicious dinner here ahead of a concert at the Modell Lyric Theater. The service was fantastic, the food was absolutely wonderful, and the restaurant is beautiful. Highly recommend the Semolina Cake!
Went here while visiting Baltimore, based on reviews on Open Table and on Trip Advisor. Had to wait close to 30 minutes for our 7:00 table. Food was very good, but I found both my appetizer and main course to be overly salted. Server was very nice, but gave me a butter knife to cut up my lamb (it was not up to the task) and we had to ask several times to have our water glasses refilled.
Food is incredible and the service is great!! Ambiance alone for special occasions is definitely worth it!!
Excellent food and service. OUr reservation was not available so we sat at the bar for a while.
We walked (from Camden Yards), you do need to have your street smarts on parade as the place is on the edge of a smart / upandcoming area by the look of it. We took Lyfft back.
A wonderful choice for a romantic dinner. Great service and delicious food.
Food was excellent. However, unfortunately, a person next to our table dropped a dish as she was leaving and glass splattered over my food and my wife. They just let the person go saying everything is okay when it was not okay. I just dont think they handled the situation well.
I am never disappointed here. I have been here 3 times and I have enjoyed each visit.
I had the lavender and honey salmon with lobster mashed potatoes.
I also had an eggplant appetizer on burrata.
For desert I had lemoncello and raspberry sorbet ry.
I was comfortable eating there by myself.
Home made pasta - Excellent
Menu choices -Excellent
Service was fair considering it was Sunday night and they were not very busy
It is always cold - too much air conditioning on and off - so not very comfortable is my only complaint
I am in love with girl that I took to dinner
The food was exceptional. We were in Rome for a few days in September and felt this meal was better than any we had there. We had a prosciutto special that came with a small salad set in a Parmesan “bowl”, fried artichoke hearts and garnishes. Very tasty and well presented. Entrees were a strip steak, flavorful and done perfectly, and spaghetti carbonara I had carbonara twice in Rome and was disappointed. Thankfully Sotto Sopra’s version was a fine example of my favorite decadent dish!
Sotto Sopra is one of Baltimore’s finest, most consistent restaurants, in my opinion. You won’t be disappointed.
Sotto Sopra is an authentic Italian restaurant with delicious food. So worth the trip! We started with some Champagne and breadsticks. We enjoyed the fried goat cheese balls with the salad as well as the artichoke hearts with the Prosciutto special also as starters. Excellent choices with beautiful presentation. Everyone loved their main course(s)! I had the squid ink pasta, which I love! It’s one of my usual favorites! Our group tried some of the specials as well as some of their main menu items. We enjoyed a terrific Italian wine to go with the exceptional food. The service was excellent as has been our experience on the many occasions we have dined at this restaurant. Sotto Sopra is a true “fit for foodie” restaurant. For us, it has become a Baltimore favorite. We have many fond memories and we often travel over 1.5 hours to come to this restaurant from our home state of PA.
Excellent service, food, and drinks.
We enjoyed our dinner at this lovely restaurant. The decor was especially charming and the prices (by DC standards) were very reasonable. Our waitress was helpful and generally attentive. We shared crispy fried baby eggplant - very crisp but so thin it was hard to taste eggplant. I had a delicious drink in a copper cup with ginger beer, ginger and lime and gin? which was delicious. Husband had a cocktail of some sort with bourbon and a really good glass of red wine. He had short rib ravioli which he liked, I had spinach ricotta ravioli - mostly spinach which I liked because sometimes that combo can get too rich. He had tiramisu for dessert which he really enjoyed. We sat in the front part of the restaurant which was not crowded and therefore very quiet.
This place never fails me. Consistent is key and they do it well. Everyone I have invited to come to this restaurant was so impressed.
My hat goes off to Lindsey the General Manager, what an asset she is to the restaurant.
The bartenders are spot on along with the wait staff.
excellent food and service, great ambiance and live music.
One of my favorite Baltimore restaurants. Food always fresh and delicious service attentive without being overwrought. Highly recommended
I came here for my birthday dinner, with a party of 5. We had an absolutely amazing meal; every bite was simply delicious, from the cheese plate to the pasta to dessert. The menu is extensive, which makes it hard to choose, but if you don't mind sharing with your dining companions, that's a great way to try a bunch of different things. The service was stellar from beginning to end. I loved our waitress, who was sweet and friendly and offered thoughtful menu suggestions, but was never intrusive. Highly recommend this place! Beautiful ambiance makes every occasion special.
Service was lovely, but the food was disappointing. The mussels were turned and, while my mother’s pork osso bucco was fairly well realized, my short rib ravioli entree sat in a pool of clear oil several millimeters deep. Our table was a bit unbalanced, and that oil literally ran off the dish in a manner that was frankly alarming. The tiramisu was indistinguishable from that at, say, Whole Foods. We were looking forward to the experience and the menu was promising, so it’s with regret we won’t return.
Sotto Sopra is one of my favorite restaurants. I always enjoy the food, wine and service. I had a honey-lavender salmon and my friend had a risotto with short rib. There portion was enormous and my portion was very small - go figure, but both were delicious.
A lovely restaurant for my husband's birthday celebration dinner.
Delicious dinner before a show at Center Stage. Sotto Sopra is not resting on its laurels. This visit was one of our best experiences at this venerable restaurant. Numerous daily specials included a tasty New York strip tagliata. And the halibut entree on the regular menu was an outstanding dish. Looking forward to the next visit.
Food, service and wines are consistently of the highest quality.
Great tasty food, as always! Excellent & prompt customer services
Excellent dinner before Center Stage for “Cat On a Hot Tin Roof.” Sotto Sopra is a classic and does classic Italian dishes exceedingly well. The fried eggplant appetizer was thinly sliced and cooked to crispy perfection. Honey lavender salmon and fettuccine with osso bucco were both fantastic. Divine tiramisu to finish.
Excellent food and service, as always. Attended opera night this time.
The ONLY place in DMV area where you can enjoy live opera with delicious french cuisine. Dinning in their opera night is a one-of-a-kind, fantastic, and unforgettable experience. Definitely will visit again.
Beautiful, cozy, and romantic - perfect for date night. The food was excellent and freshly prepared. The pastas are all house made, the salads very fresh, and the server was very knowledgeable in suggesting dishes suitable for my special dietary needs. Desserts are house made and out of this world. Great wine selection and house made cocktails. We will be returning for special occasions and anniversaries.
