Fabulous! Went here for a birthday celebration. Food was outstanding and Christa our server gave us wonderful recommendations. Impromptu played terrific jazz and a great time was had by all. Highly recommend the fresh and delicious menu.
After a bit of a wait, approximately 30 mins, although we had reservations for 8pm the food did not disappoint! It was the last day of restaurant week and the restaurant was offering a deal 3 courses for 35 dollars. We had a party of 4 and we all got different appetizers, entrees, and desserts so we could try all the dishes. Each dish was amazing. I couldn’t decide what I liked best for each thing was completely different in flavor and presentation. I recommend this restaurant and will be going back myself next time we visit Baltimore!
You did it again – you continue to wow us every time we come. For the last night of Restaurant Week, the restaurant was completely full with a jovial vibe. Everyone was having a great time. Our compliments to your entire staff for always delivering quality and attentive service and to your chefs for preparing and presenting such creative dishes for us to enjoy. Patrick, our server, saw that we did enjoy.
Our party of 4 was off to a great start with the La Nostra Insalata, Calamari Fritti, and two Heirloom Tomato and Burrata Caprese. For our second course, we had the Short Rib Ravioli (shitake mushroom, pancetta, sage, and truffle butter sauce), Saltimbocca di Vitello (veal, sage, prosciutto, provolone, mashed potatoes, and sautéed broccolini in a shitake mushroom sauce), Pan-Seared Branzino Filet (mashed potatoes, fried green tomato in a salmoriglio sauce) and Creamy Carbonara ala Sotto Sopra (smoked bacon, egg and Parmesan).
Our dining adventure ended with a bang. The guys savored the Warm Apple Strudel and Gianduja Pot du Crème. The gals were so impressed with the presentation of the Salted Carmel Gelato and Mango Sorbet. The gelato and sorbet were sitting in a delicate pastry puff drawn to look like a flower. It was stunning.
Thank you so much for participating in Restaurant Week. You have mastered it!
Restaurant was loud.
This is the first time we have come to Sotto Sopra for a Restaurant Week lunch. We had guests flying in from out of state and wanted to treat them to something really special. Sotto Sopra did not disappoint. We arrived just as they were opening at 11:30 AM, so we were lone diners for a while and therefore had the entire restaurant to ourselves as if we were private guests. Mike warmly greeted us and sat us at our requested favorite table.
Our guests were in awe of the décor, old world elegance and ambience of the restaurant. Sotto Sopra goes all out for Restaurant Week, plus they always extend for an additional week. They don’t just offer two or three choices; they offer multiple first and second courses. You should not miss lunch or dinner here - especially during Restaurant Week.
For lunch, we started with a La Nostra Insalata (bitter greens, dill, shaved fennel, Parmigiano, Champagne-Dijon vinaigrette), two soups of the day which was Pumpkin Spice drizzled with balsamic reduction and a Polenta Soffice con Ragu di Lumache (soft polenta, snail ragout with garlic butter). Oh my, we were off to a great start – the first courses were so beautifully plated and beyond delicious. For our second course, we enjoyed Rigatoni alle Melanzane e Mozzarella (rigatoni pasta, roasted eggplant and fresh mozzarella), an Omelet of the day with tomatoes, asparagus, onions and cheese with a small La Nostra Insalata on the side and two Salmone alla Lavanda e Miele( grilled salmon, lavender honey, broccoli, and mashed potatoes). The salmon was cooked perfectly with a very crispy skin – just like we like it. From start to finish, the food, the service, the ambience was perfect.
Service was a little all over the place, but the food was tastey!
Fantastic food!! My meal reminded me of our dinners in Italy. The food, the amibiance, the service, all was fantastic! We celebrated our anniversary and they did a few special things to really make us feel special and help us celebrate our day. Can’t wait to go back!
Fantastico! Sotto Sopra was a delight- great food and nice surroundings-
Food was amazing as always. We both ordered fish (Branzino for me Salmon for him), both were cooked to perfection with a crispy crust and tender center.
Every course was amazing. My only regret was we decided to totally demolish all of the food instead of asking for a box....food coma followed.
If I’m haven’t tried this place yet you’re crazy. The absolute biggest steal for Baltimore Restaurant Week!
I was actually excited to go here, but was disappointed. Service was OK and food was mediocre at best. The space felt very over crowded, as the tables were so close together you were on top of your fellow dinner. Not a place I would visit again.
Exceptional service and wonderful atmosphere. Menu was extensive and food was delicious. Will return!
I enjoyed my first visit to Sotta Sopra. An evening out with my daughter, We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Sotto Sopra is probably THE most consistent restaurant for quality and service since my first visit over 5 years ago. Always a great meal and service!
Wife and I went to Sotto Sopra for the first time last night. We waited only a few moments to be seated and had a nice 4-top so we had extra room and enjoyed sitting next to each other on the comfy couch-like bench. We enjoyed all three courses of the restaurant week menu items that we chose; side-note it's actually their normal menu items just listed with appropriate up-charges for the super expensive stuff - we appreciated this and both took advantage. We look forward to returning for an Opera night!
Wonderful experience. From walking in to leaving. It was great. Best service in Baltimore.
What a wonderful evening! A varied menu with so many interesting selections. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, our waitress was delightful, and so was all of the other staff we encountered. A perfect dining experience in a lovely atmosphere! Thank you!
Simply Amazing cuisine .... and I don't even like Italian.
Our hostess from the moment we walked in were pleasant even wished us a happy anniversary and were okay with our request to be in derricks section. The bartender (don’t re call his name) was beyond pleasant made us laugh and very knowledgeable in regards to our cocktail requests. Even brought over champagne toast over to wish us a happy anniversary. After telling Derrick he was recommended to us he was missing half the meal, I acknowledged that I was very sick at dinner but kept pushing and asking about us drinking at the few times we were at the table. After dessert and we asked for a check he walked by our table 6 times. We had to go give the host who was behind the bar our payment and explained that we were happy with the bar tender and how everyone EXCEPT OUR SERVER ackowledged our anniversary. By the time our server realized he made a mistake we were already frustrated and upset that he was impossible to get the entire meal. I am also a server and work restaurant week and I still make a point to bring up special occasions and make the table still feel special. I even told him it was my first time ever dining for restaurant week. The lack of service was very sad. But the rest of the staff was pleasant , welcoming every time I come in. I will not ask for Derrick nor would I recommend him to anyone who attends Sotto Sopra.
We have been fans of Sotto Sopra for a long time. We went for Restaurant Week, and the service, the food, the ambience is impeccable. Chef Riccardo has a winner there. My wife had the Gellato of the day for dessert, and it was just a beautiful presentation. (photo attached)
Tasty food, large size, great dessert.
We went for Restaurant Week, and it was great. Portions were ridiculous (in a good way), whereas some restaurants reduce the plate sizes during RW. The mussels in curry and coconut milk were amazing, as was the short rib ravioli and the honey-lavender salmon. The service was great too; Trish (Tricia?) was very friendly and quick to respond with any requests. Definitely will return, not just for RW.
Excellent restaurant all the way around and a great dining experience. Thank you!
I met a friend for dinner. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and a reasonable price. I especially liked the salmon tartare appetizer and the best seafood spaghetti I have
ever eaten. Definitely I would eat there again
Ceasar salad presentation very unique. Lobster risotto with scallops was amazing. *if* I had to change anything add some lobster meat to the risotto, even for a slight up charge. Will be back for sure
As always, outstanding!
Outstanding experience Ossi Bucci was great. Another had the scallop risotto. Perfect!
My boyfriend took me here to celebrate my birthday and I couldn’t be happier!! The service was wonderful! The food was out of this world!!! I had a “When Harry Meets Sally” moment upon eating the pumpkin ravioli!! My boyfriend got the short rib ravioli which was just as amazing! We split them and enjoyed every bite! The goat cheese balls on the fresh beet & arugula salad was divine and just the right amount of crunch. Perfectly amazing. We will absolutely be coming back!!!!! I highly recommend Sotto Sopra! Cheers! 😊🥂🎉
Second time I've eaten here and the food was excellent. Bon appetit!
Soto was surprisingly good food. In a city where a new restaurant opens everyday, this one will last. Great food. Not one item I did not like or would not order again. Fried Calamari is the critical test. Cook it too long, not good. The Calamari at Soto was cooked to perfection. Dinner was great, and the service was excellent. Will definitely go back.
Service was outstanding
Our meals were excellent - squid ink pasta!!
A very enjoyable evening
Everything about Sotta Sopra is perfect!
Service was good and the food was prepared well. I typically don't order dessert, but felt inspired to order a chocolate lava cake. It capped an excellent meal.
The service was excellent. The food was good.
Dinning room was too dark to really see colors of the food and appreciated the presentation.
Met and, exceeded my expectations on,all levels.
This was the perfect romantic spot for an important second date! The staff was excellent, friendly, knew when to help us and when to hang back.
This is a quaint Italian bistro in just off downtown Baltimore district. Very old school in appearance but the staff was very attentive and accomodating and the food was very good. We certainly enjoyed it and would recommend it to others.
We were there for our Anniversary and were very pleased to have the best seat in the house for Opera Night. They even sang some Coloratura so I was very pleased. The food was delicious. It was a perfect evening.
Opera night is a singular event representing outstanding valu
