Sotto Sopra Ratings and Reviews
We had a lovely dinner while visiting Baltimore. Our server, Katie, was gracious and attentive. The ambiance was lovely and the food delicious. The hostess, Lindsey, was charming and very helpful with after dinner recommendations in the area. Would definitely recommend.
The entire experience I had while at Sotto Sopra was phenomenal. We were seated exactly at the time of our reservation, and our table -- despite being in the middle of the restaurant -- was cozy and separate. The service was fantastic, the food was the best I've had in Baltimore, and the ambiance was very romantic and comfortable. It was a great dining experience through and through and I certainly plan on going back for my next special occasion. It is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.
We have eaten at Sotto Sopra several times and were fairly disappointed in this visit. The service was not very attentive and the food was only ok. I'm a big fan of the black squid ink pasta, but there was hardly any seafood in it, and our water cups were never refilled.
4th time here. Food still solid
Prices a bit high for the fare being served but still delivers a great meal after so many years.
Atmosphere, service and food was outstanding.
I unique building with artwork everywhere.
Only detractor would be the tables were very close, so you were literally sitting one chair away from the next table in some locations. A bit distracting, but everyone ignored the other tables and it seemed to work.
I would definitely go again.
Be sure to make reservations, it is very popular.
Prices were not too high. Food was just okay, I was hoping for something a bit better and the service was kind of slow. My empty bowl sat for about 10 minutes before it got picked up. Could have been the a less experienced crew the night after valentines day. Very cool space with awesome artwork on the walls. I probably wouldn't go back.
My wife and I dined here for Valentine's Day, and had a wonderful evening. The food and service was fantastic, and I was overall very impressed. Usually, expectations are lowered for VDay, as many restaurants are swamped, offer a limited menu, and are overall slogging to get through the night. Not so at Sotta Sopra. It was busy, but they all handled the crowd with professional excellence all around. Wonderful experience!
This was our first visit and we were suitably impressed. The quality of the food was superb, the portion size adequate, but dining area was narrow and loud. The price was on the high side, but not outrageously so given the meal was so good. I would go back.
Friends of ours have raved about Sotto Sopra for a long time and we decided to give it a shot. I am glad we did. We were a few minutes early for our reservation and were immediately sat. Service was fantastic. The food was even better. The decor and atmosphere in the restaurant was very romantic. The price for the evening was what you would expect from a higher end Italian place in the city. We will definitely be back. They also had valet, which was great as it was raining on the evening we went.
We go to Sotto Sopra often. It has wonderful authentic Italian food and is better than most of the restaurants in the Little Italy section of Baltimore. We go out of our way to frequent this restaurant and will continue to do so. I am of Italian heritage and have taken many family members there and they love it.
I absolutely love dining here because of the fantastic Beverage Manager Mike! The service is always top notch & he’s such a sweetheart that goes above & beyond!
Lindsey, another amazing Manager makes you feel so welcome & is dedicated in ensuring you’ve had a great dining experience. I could go on & on! I recommend this fine, classic establishment to everyone I know!
All around lovely experience. Food was served wonderfully hot. Attractively plated and quite delicious. While puzzled by an unexpected wait between apps and mains, obvious care put into the entrees justified the wait. Pasta was silky and appropriately sauced. Branzino was delightful. Highly recommended.
We have had dinner and lunch at Sotto Sopra and everything was exquisite both times. Menu interesting and presented beautifully. Waiters are very professional - available but not intrusive. Has a NY feeling - I'm a New Yorker!
Food was great service was on target. Pricing wasn’t to bad. We went on a Tuesday we had to find parking.
First class service, food and ambiance. All you could ask for in a restaurant. Would be there more frequently were it not for the fact we live 60 miles away.
Every dish we had with something special and service was immaculate. We were moved to accommodate the noise level which was a wonderful accommodation. Overall this was a very worthwhile experience in high-quality cuisine
This is a delicious Italian restaurant in the Mt. Vernon district of downtown Baltimore. It's beautiful with an Old World feel, attentive service and wonderful food.
The young man who waited on us was very professional and had expert knowledge of the menu. I was very impressed with his service.
We had a wonderful dinner in a warm, comfortable atmosphere and great service from Patrick. Also, thanks to Mike for his gracious assistance.
Had dinner before a show at the hippodrome and it was wonderful. It was a Wednesday which is live jazz night and I can’t wait to go back. The music was excellent and the food was delicious!
My daughter and I loved our dinner here! The service was excellent, the food absolutely delicious and the interior design was very nice as well. Reasonably priced. We will definitely return!
Third time there. The food was mediocre at best. The Saltimbocca was overcooked and dry. The sauce was uneventful. Great atmosphere. Pricey for average cuisine.
We've dined here several times. The food is excellent and the wait staff knowledgeable. Lovely space, but close quarters to other tables is awkward. Highly recommend.
We were friends and had tickets to the BSO, our waiter Derrick was AMAZING! He made sure we were done without rushing us and time to get where we needed to go.
When there was a line for the ladies room he went into the men’s room wiped it down so ladies could use the men’s room! He went above and beyond what he needed to!
Wow...some of the best food I have had in the area...a real gem! Beautiful setting, wonderful service, and food to die for!!!
I totally love Sotto Sopra! I am never disappointed and always enjoy an authentic Italian meal wonderfully prepared. Couple this with the restaurant week price of $35 for three courses, and I’m in heaven. Loved the beet and mozzarella appetizer, and their Spaghetti Carbonara is a longtime favorite of mine...so flavorful. While nothing like my grandmother’s strudel, the SS version is delicious. Fabulous meal!
It was the first time dining at Sotto Sopra for two of us; an elegant and enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back!
The food was good but we had a reservation and we still waited 45 minutes for a table. Fortunately the weather was nice so we were able to wait outside because it is a small place.
We love this busy, happy spot in our favorite part of the city. Pork ossobucco and cioppino were wonderful on a cold winter night. We arrived early so our visit could include some time at the beautifully illuminated bar. I recommend "the sinner," made with redemption rye and served in a chic little coupe. So much fun
Long wait even with reservation, but they were packed because of restaurant week. Food was fantastic & waiter was very good. Always enjoy Sotto Sopra!
Although restaurant week can be kind of crazy, Sotto Sopra met all of my expectations and then some. The food was incredible from the bread to the desserts. Everything was hot, the plates were clean around the edges, and our server was professional.
Extremely friendly staff and even valet personnel. Very satisfied
This is a casually elegant neighborhood restaurant that makes you feel at home and pampered. The food and service were excellent, and the ambiance beautiful. I took my mother (93) for restaurant week and all the staff looked after her to make sure she was comfortable. She had a great time and loved the food and servers. That's my Mom in the photo!
I will definitely go back there. Was awesome
Great restaurant week menu, delicious food, wonderful service! We really enjoyed everything! They've got it down to serve the full restaurant crowd!
I just want to say that though I only gave 4 stars - the food was fantastic!!! I took off a star based on the fact the seating was suuuuuuper tight. We were in a middle row seated at two tops that were literally less than a foot apart(between the tables) and the aisles were so tight that people were bumping into both me and my husband the whole dinner. For the price I’d like to not be packed in like sardines. I’m that being said the food was amazing, our waiter was attentive and we will likely be back
Never disappoints! Restaurant week meals are not skimpy as some places give. Delicious!
We went to the restaurant for restaurant week. Our favorite dish was on the menu, a pumpkin ravioli. As always the food and service were fantastic. And in fact one of my friends to home another meal so she could have it again the next day.
Excellent as always. Perfect portions sizes, you leave full, but not stuffed. Creative dishes and nice ambience.
Sotto Sophra used to be one of my favorite restaurants in baltimore. I had the pork ossobuco, which is one of my favorite dish. The taste has changed from when i had it last time and the portion size decreased noticeably.. its still good but not as good as when i had it a while ago. (I ordered the dish several times before)
