Delightful evening with family. Raw salmon appetizer was amazing. All of ordered pasta entrees and we shared bites-all were tasty, unique and pefectly seasoned Desserts and cheeses were excellent except pot de creme which was good but not quite chocolatey enough. We intend to return next time we are in Baltimore! Thank you!
Good appetizers, but unfortunately it ends there. Besides putting cream in Carbonara which no Italian would do, it was quite disappointing to find most of the ravioli without a filling and the Zafferano Tagliatelle with no saffron at all. A manager tried to explain that Zafferano is not to be meant as the saffron ingredient (actually she didn't know it was spelled like that in Italian !?) but it refers to a company in Italy famous for it's porcelains who then gave the name to this type of pasta. Italian here, and never heard of such thing. Creative explanation however. This place used to be good up to a few years ago but it seems it went down hill lately, at least if you are looking for authentic Italian food
Everything was perfect. The honey lavender salmon was amazing.
I was somewhat disappointed in our meal. While our food was good, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be from the reputation I had heard about them. We were there to celebrate a special occasion, and I felt there was no added attention given to it. We were there for lunch, and for some reason, the host seated a majority of the larger groups all in the back of the restaurant, so there was no real ambiance to the dining experience. One party in our group ordered the lunch special salmon, and no lie, the portion of salmon wasn't as big as a playing card, that was VERY disappointing. This was a one-and-done experience, I think I would find other more worthy restaurants before I would go back.
I've had the pleasure of eating here several times and have to say it never disappoints. The atmosphere, the vibe, the staff and the food are all fabulous. We chose Sotto Sopra to celebrate a graduation, and our waitress Victoria took it upon herself to bring the graduates a lovely dessert topped with sparklers. Thank you Victoria, and thank you Sotto Sopra for another wonderful dinner party.
The food is great, the service is great, and the ambiance is great.
Perfect as always, but this time our waiter stole the show. I think his name was Dave. Every time we asked for something extra different he made sure it had happened - dad asks for extra dressing on salad, as soon as served Dave is over making sure there was enough. And we were going to show next door so they kept everything moving - which also turned the table, but we were made to feel it was efficient not pushed through. A real pro and the great service made the night.
This is a go-to spot for my husband and I. We know that no matter what we feel like ordering, it will no doubt be delicious. No need to order the same thing over and over just because you know you’ll like it. I enjoy broadening my horizons here. Great atmosphere and staff also.
Excellent as always! We've been fans of Sotto Sopra for almost 20 years. They always exceed expectations.
Once again the food and service were excellent. There was a Jazz group that set up after we had started dinner. We were charged the cover for the music. I thought the restaurant could have modified this since we came for dinner and not the music
Had been to Soto Sopra years ago. This week had an occasion to be in Baltimore and remembered this restaurant as being very good. Our memory was correct. It is still a very good restaurant with wonderful homemade pasta and creative dishes. Highly recommended.
We arrived before the restaurant opened and the hostess could not have been more gracious, inviting us in while opening preparations were taking place. Once seated, our waitress was comfortably attendant without being overbearing. The meal was wonderful and the restaurant ambiance outstanding, all of which made for a lovely birthday outing for my companion.
Searched for something romantic in Baltimore for our 13th anniversary and we were not disappointed. Our reservations were at 5pm so they had just opened the doors and started seating those who were waiting. The food came out fast and was delicious. One minor hiccup was our creme brûlée did not have the right texture for a custard and was separating in the dish, after we brought it up with our waitress she had it replaced in the blink of an eye and removed it from our bill entirely as an apology. Summary: Great food, honest staff, and romantic decor make this place a perfect dinner date location.
Excellent dining experience. What a doubt one of the best dinners we’ve had in years.
Fabulous pre-theatre dinner, food was amazing, service excellent, drinks perfect and background music lovely. Have always loved this place and once again it did not disappoint.
I travel for a living and eat in great restaurants weekly. I have absolutely no idea why this place is rated so highly. My meal was below average in every way. The rock fish was dry, tough and over cooked on the outside while not cooked fully in the inside (yuck)! The spinach was ultra salty to the point where I couldn’t eat it. Even the wine was average. I just shook my head wondering how on earth this place got its rating. 2/5 stars max.
Great food and great service. The bread, pasta, salad and... cheese plate (!!) were so good. Thank you!!
Yet another lovely experience. My rockfish was utterly delicious, and my friend enjoyed his seafood risotto. Patrick, our server, was personable, helpful, and attentive. Great evening!
Nice to see some authentic dishes on the menu. Enjoyed the service
We attended on Opera Night.
The food, the service, the setting all were outstanding! I look forward to coming back for Jazz or Opera night!
Not just the best Italian, simply the BEST restaurant in Baltimore!! Food, ambiance (Romantic & intimate). Always a true joy to visit.
Excellent service, wonderful homemade pastas, beautiful setting. Works on all levels.
I have been to this restaurant about eight times. It has always been a great experience until this week. Because of past experiences we were comfortable inviting out-of-town guests. We arrived, no host greeted us for the first 8 - 10 minutes. Then after she approached us she answered the phone and made hand gestures to a waiter to seat us. Wow, that was a terrible first impression for my guests and an embarrassment for my husband and me. The waitress was wonderful when she arrived nearly fifteen minutes after we were seated. The food was universally praised but the service was horrendous for a restaurant of quality. Additionally we were sat next to a guy who was wearing a hooded, printed sweatshirt and a backwards baseball cap. This was not the atmosphere or experience we were hoping to share with our special guests. The good food can only make up for so much. In the restaurant's defense, after my husband inquired as to the status of the waitress, the manager sent a round of limoncello.
We went before a BSS event. Our waiter was outstanding. Very knowledgeable about the menu and the specials. Provided good suggestions about both food and wine. If they have the spaghetti carbonara as a special get it. It's delicious. Have been many times and would go again. Opera night is great too.
Absolutely wonderful, they were so thoughtful💖💖💖
An extraordinary spot! Elegant, cozy, romantic, classy...and exceptional food!
The food portions were surprisingly small, especially for the price. My wife had the lobster ravioli and it was a bit overdone however the spaghetti carbonara was very good but the portion was such that I was still hungry after the meal.
This evening was wonderful!!!! Thank you to Sotto Sopra for having The Hot Club of Baltimore perform at your restaurant. They always bring a wonderful vibe to compliment your amazing food and wonderful service. From start to finish our night was fantastic. When we asked to be seated closer to the band your staff was very accommodating, inviting us to sit at the bar till they could clear a table for us. Once our table was ready your staff got us from he bar and showed us to a great table. We enjoyed our delicious dinner with wonderful wine and delicious dessert. A truly great experience!!!
Food was excellent! Best Bolognese we've had! Pasta was nice and fresh and great focaccia bread. If you're in the area and love Italian food, it's a must try!
Would recommend this place for sure to anyone who wants quality Italian food. Will for sure be returning. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and what wines paired well with the food.
Very good and worth a return trip. The fried polenta app with truffle salt was excellent. Everyone enjoyed craft cocktails and the entrees. Everything was well prepared and no one was disappointed. The service was very slow but it was a full house so it gave us more time to enjoy each other’s company.
We really enjoyed the wine and our meals including desert.
This restaurant had it all. A warm and beautiful decor, the most delicious food with an elegant presentation and great service! We ate there for the two course lunch and had the most fantastic molten chocolate cake for dessert! What a find!
My favorite Baltimore spot... great food and service that never disappoints. Gnocchi that floats off the plate! Don’t miss this Baltimore gem.
This was my second time here. The food , service and atmosphere were all wonderful. I would go back anytime the opportunity presents itself.
wonderful place! one of our favorites in Baltimore.
Very nice selection of pasta, fish and meat options.
Black Sea bass deelish. Chef kindly made a special vegan vegetable pasta dish which was superb.
Will definitely be back.
Delicious food. Excellent service. Charming atmosphere where you can talk at a normal level and hear your dinner companion. Bravo!
