Sotto Sotto Ristorante - Toronto
Awful customer service at this restaurant. Was very disappointed by it
Always a great meal and good ambience at my favourite Italian restaurant in Toronto.
It’s been years since I have had the pleasure of dining at Sotto Sotto and all I can say is that they have once again exceeded my expectations for high quality food and attentive service.
Sorry, but I eat at various Italian restaurants. I can compare. Unfortunately, without going into details, the food was simple - tasteless.
It was our anniversary and I made it clear to the staff and also noted on my reservation. My fiancé was disappointed that there was no mention or a special desert for the occasion. I took the blame for the whole evening but it was Sotto Sotto that dropped the ball in a big way. Every other restaurant we have celebrated has gone over and beyond for these occasions. I was very upset.
Food was delicious but portions were extremely small. Waiter was decent but was at our table every two minutes asking if everything was ok. Not to mention his hovering as I was entering tip amount into card reader.
The Restsurant is too gloomy
It should be brighter
Viktor, our server, was very aggressive. He set the tone for the meal right off the bat and put a sour taste in everyone's mouth. He was pushy with the apps and wine, was not particularly attentive and I could tell he turned off after I had to match his aggression and insist that we did not want the 4 orders of appetizers he was suggesting when we were ordering pasta, mains and sides as well. When you spend this amount of money on a meal, you would expect exceptional service and frankly, the meal was sullied by his pushy demeanor upfront and the way he disengaged afterward.
From the martini to the cheesecake it was fabulous.
We’ve already made our next reservation.
Victor made this meal the best dinner experience of my life.
Very enjoyable all around! Good food, and a very pleasant ambience.
Our 25th wedding anniversary which we noted on the reservation and the table inside was horrible we went outside and it was better - however we chose this restaurant for our anniversary as we had gone to the same restaurant on our 3rd anniversary and it was so special and 22 years later it disappoints...
The food was good however service was awful .. extremely slow between checking up on us and not professional or fine dining service at all.
Would not go back.
Every visit to Toronto I make a point to stop at Sotto Sotto. The ambiance, food and service has remained the same throughout the years. See you next time!
We were greeted promptly and shown to our table
The ambience was lovely and so was the service and quality of the food
We would definitely return
The food was good. Service was atrocious.
It took 3 hours for the whole thing.
-We couldn’t pay when we finished system down
-the server dropped Knife and fork on my friend
- my husband found Tin foil in scotch
- brought out the Wrong main entree
- has Crab in pasta didn’t offer any utensils to crack it
- Hair on bread
- The server didn’t really acknowledge any of the issues and then said we are going to SLOW him down because we wanted to split the bill.
Not coming back. So many better joints around
An amazing Italian Restaurant!
Incredible food, excellent service as always. Our server was very attentive and knowlegable about the menu and wine list.
Waitress could barely crack a smile and really only smiled at the very end of our meal. She was in my opinion, unfriendly and unenthusiastic about her job and the food which is poor customer service.
The clams we ordered had a lot of sand in them as well as sand on the bottom of the bowl which when you stir it with a spoon, you can hear that there isn't just a bit of sand, more than what is reasonable. The broth/wine sauce was bland, there was no taste. I'm not big on salt but it tasted as if there was not seasoning at all, just a tad of taste from the herbs which we all know is not enough to bring out the flavour of the clams.
We ordered the fish which was fine, nothing special.
The pasta we ordered, bolognese with penne was probably the best dish and was very good but one dish out of 3/4 in my opinion isn't a good meal
Unfortunately, I've heard great things about this restaurant but was very dissatisfied with my overall food experience and the poor service so I will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant to anyone.
In a week of enjoyable dining experiences in Toronto, Sotto Sotto won hands down and away. Recommended by a local friend, it is an authentic Italian place in Yorkville in a two story converted house. We were promptly seated for our 9 pm reservation at a lovely upstairs table and began to peruse the menu. We started with a recommendation from our server. Creamy parmesan cheese imported from Italy. Amazing! The hard part was choosing our entrees. I went with an amazing veal eggplant dish which was a nearly perfect piece of veal with eggplant prepared just right. The service complimented the ambiance while being prompt yet not intrusive. All around A1 place. will definitely return!
Great food, great service and staff. Really loved it, will be back
Went for my wife’s birthday and our meals were good and the ambiance was cozy and relaxed.
The only reason to go there I think for the experience because the restaurant is famous for its' celebrity guests. Otherwise, the food is ok. We were not offered parmesan and pepper for pasta. Pasta was average, as well as the other food we ordered.
We enjoyed our evening at sotto Sotto. Everything was outstanding. Food was delicious. Staff was very professional.
The absolute best!!! Piccata sauce was to die for!!
Outstanding food. Excellent service. If you’re not familiar with the location, you will have to look for paid parking.
Fantastic food, great service, but the ambience is a bit snobby and the wine list is ridiculously expensive
Amazing food and service, got there early for our reservation and was still able to seat us within 10 minutes. Would definitely recommend. Can’t wait to return.
Great risotto. Great service
Excellent all around, as always.
The service wasn’t anything to rave about considering the prices..
I went with a table fo 4 and we spent a pretty penny. We ordered drinks, 5 appetizers, 4 entrees, risotto and 2 sides. There was a manager walking around making a couple of tables feel extremely welcomed, giving them special treatment etc but considering the amount of money we spent we felt kind of neglected, didnt really get any special treatment or anything really different than you would get at other places with a cheaper menu.
Our favorite place is at the bar, natural light filters in through the large window that overlooks the outdoor patio. The bartenders are very engaging and put on a great show; watching as they make some of the most intriguing concoctions! The food is exceptional, we typically order several appetizers as sharing plates, the portions are well sized and three appetizers between two people make a great meal. Make reservations early as this place has an incredible following of wonderful people who enjoy great food!
Loud small space fools average not worth the dollar
Wonderful dinner and great staff. Felt authentically Italian. Thank you so much!
The food was world class and service was excellent!
Father’s Day with family .
Terrible experience. Pasta included a rubber band and even though the staff were notified -- no one offered to replace the dish. Dishes were overly salty.
Very delayed seating despite having a reservation. Average Italian food but the seafood was superbly fresh. Shrimp was over cooked and gnocchi was too soft.
