South City Kitchen Buckhead
The upstairs area is beautiful! Great views, feels semi-private and layout is perfect. Great service even with a large party. The food was delicious. From the bread, to the she crab soup, to the fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits. I will continue dining here over and over again.
Elevated Southern Food in upscale environment. Great service.
Excellent food and service in a casual relaxed atmosphere. Try the fried chicken. You won't regret it.
I have been wanting to bring my wife here for some tea now. Finally, the stars align. I had the trout. She had the shrimp and grits. As an added bonus one of our friends was there too. He also had the trout. We started with fried green tomatoes. That was perfect. We enjoyed the meals too. Then, with 3 spoons, we attacked the strawberry sundae. All of us were stuffed when we left. Awesome meal.
We were in the area for a convention and loved this restaurant. Our server was very informative and took great care of our party of 6. The food was Amazing! There was a large open dining room but also some private nooks. Very nice selection of wine.
We had a delicious meal with outstanding service and great atmosphere! I will very return. Excellent experience!
I had the soup salad combo. The shea-crab soup was amazing and the Caesar salad had fried zucchini on top! I was very satisfied with the quality of food and attentive service offered by this establishment. I would return!
Best waitress I’ve ever had! Great presentation of the menu. Funny & very descriptive.
The food was just okay. My husband and I both had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens, The chicken was okay, the greens were bad. We also got the chicken livers and they were terrible. Good freshly baked bread and cornbread, though.
Great service and experience. Would recommend to others dining in the Buckhead area looking for a nice, casual, dining experience for sure!
Took my boss here for lunch for her birthday. We both had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and our co-worker has the Bee& Mushroom Meatloaf. Everything was very good. The chicken on the sandwiches was prepared perfectly. The only thing we didn’t like was the fresh cut fries. They were very salty and I think the may have been fried in old grease, but overall, we had a lovely time.
Overpriced, I spent $70 at lunch time alone for just fried chicken and meatloaf
The fried chicken w/ mashed potatoes was amazing and the banana pudding dessert was a delectable finish!
This restaurant was recommended by my son as having the best fried chicken of his life and he was spot on. I would highly recommend it!
Horrible Mother’s Day dinner-Insulting treatment
Took my almost 80 year old mom to dinner there at 5:30 PM. We arrived early (5:10) for our reservation. They told us it would be 5:30 before they could seat us. No problem. We knew we were early. When they told us our reservation was ready, they asked if we could go upstairs. The stairs are very steep and quite a few stairs and no elevator. We politely declined since my mom is not able to climb those stairs and there was no elevator. We were fine waiting. A few minutes later they escorted us out onto the covered, outside bar area. The bar area adjoins Peachtree St, a very busy and noisy street. It was chilly, raining, and the tables are bare-no table clothes (unlike the tables inside). At first we were the only people outside. In addition to the loud street noise and MARTA noise, the music was so loud that we could not carry on a conversation. I had to go back in and ask if they could at least turn down the music. They did but they never offered to move us even though numerous tables inside sat empty the whole time we were there. No manager ever came to check on us.
Food was good and our waiter, Michael, was excellent, but we couldn’t enjoy it.
Nevertheless this experience was ruined for us because management was oblivious to the needs of its customers. Very robotic and unconcerned about our comfort or experience. Not a great value for &150.00. Unlikely to ever return to any SCK.
I was extremely disappointed with the menu offered on Mother’s Day. I had heard so many great things about the menu from Steaks to Chicken & Waffles. Only to arrive and be limited to a Mother’s Day offering that was in my opinion lazy. Holidays like this give you an opportunity to showcase your food to a group of people that can be turned into regulars but instead we were offered a limited set of options that was simply not appealing. Brunch seems like the perfect opportunity for chicken & waffles not uncooked salmon. I was aware that you all were not the cheapest game in town and I was fine but to spend $140 and be this underwhelmed was extremely disappointing.
Rashud our server was wonderful and so helpful.
Your staff at reception / welcoming party were pretty passive aggressive and even a little rude ....they clearly didn’t want feedback which was a shame as this was for a birthday party and nothing we had asked for was delivered . When I gave feedback or requested to get as close to what we asked I was brushed off or comments were made to the side/under breath which I chose to ignore .
Luckily Rashud saved the evening for us - he was brilliant so please thank him for his exceptional service and attention.
Great dining experience. Came to celebrate my mother for Mother’s Day. The brunch menu was minimal but you can’t go wrong with any of the selections. Something for every taste bud. I would call it southerner soul cuisine but elevated. Reminds you of home. Delicious.
Well, don't bother with reservations because apparently, they take walk-ins before reservations. We originally specified indoor's and they seated us on the enclosed patio, wood chairs kind of hot and not that clean. The hostesses were indifferent and apparently so busy seating non-reservations that they seemed mad when I walked in and said I had a reservation. We were dressed well and basically wound up on the patio in wood chairs with upholstered booth sitting empty. Just a bad experience and will not be going back! Food was OK server was OK and its valet parking or 12 dollars to park in lot across from restaurant
Great place for a business lunch. Easy to hear others. Food was awesome!
I am a fan of South City Kitchen. Being a foodie it's one of my go-to with new friends. The services were poor and my dish was poor. It could have been a bad chef day.
My go-to place in Buckhead. The food and service are consistently good.
I truly enjoyed the meal. The seating was in a good location. If I had one criticism it was that the server
had many tables to take care of and she seemed rushed.
Great food and atmosphere.
That pork chop shmacks. I had the best server ever of my entire restaurant experience of my life. My server and I forgot my name so sorry but this dude was the best in the business. Highly recommend to anyone
I used to love the crab cake hash at brunch. Although the menu and receipt still say hash, it's not. It's just fingerling potatoes. If you loved the dish they used to have, DON'T order this new crab cake. It's not anything like it and not really that good. Disappointed. Order anything else and you'll love it!
Awesome food! Best fried chicken around...we will definitely be making this a regular dinner spot.
Celebrated my husband’s birthday with out of town guests. Wonderful experience, great food, phenomenal service! And my guests shared their positive experience with others, which is the type of unsolicited PR any Business wants.
Excellent lunch experience! Always a favorite in my book.
Very nice food and nice service!
I recommended the fried chicken to one of my guests. You should have seen the look on her face as she was consuming. She said it was next to orgasmic! I enjoyed their legendary pork chop. My other guest had the trout. All were VERY pleased with their choices. I made them each a fan.
Wish I lived in Atlanta. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow! I pick restaurants for business meals based on their menu, Open Table reviews and proximity to my hotel. All three were used to pick South Ciy Kitchen in Buckhead, and I’m thrilled at the response from every one of our group. One of our guests had a colleague (from Kansas City) bringing a group in the next night, and was beyond thrilled with that choice after our experience. We started with the fried green tomatoes; most of us are northerners but the one from Alabama assured us these were as good as he’d ever had. Three of us had the shrimp and grits; it’s a dish I’ve had across the country, including in New Orleans - this was as flavorful as any I’ve eaten. Our server didn’t suggest there was any heat to the dish, but I would tell you it was the perfect amount of hot/spice. The other two had the fried chicken, and raved about the flavor and tenderness of the meat. We then shared a few slices of coconut cream pie. I’m pretty certain there wasn’t a morsel left on any plate. I will absolutely be back when again in Buckhead - I may have to make up a reason for a meeting in the area!
Chris our waiter was wonderful and he food was perfect . We have visited the Vinings and Midtown location and Buckhead is the best . Very quiet and laid back .
Great as always. I like the original location but the patio in Buckhead is awesome!
A great experience but would prefer the service be a little more attentive.
Love South City! First visit to Buckhead, we always go to Midtown!
It took 3 hours for four of us to dine. The waiter was clearly swamped with tables. We have had excellent meals at South City Kitchen in the past but this one was below average. I sent my salad back because it was drenched in dressing. I had trout that was decent but swimming in a watery sauce with vegetables that were hard to eat, not to mention bland. My husband's pork chop was dry. One dessert with donuts just sweet and the coconut creme pie without flavor. All in all, a disappointing dining experience.
Been to South City a couple of times at the Avalon location and decided to try the Buckhead location for lunch today. Great as usual! Wonderful service from our waiter, Bree, awesome food (those biscuits and apple butter are to due for). Will continue to come back!
I haven't been to South City Kitchen in years and never to the Buckhead location so I was excited to go back. We went on a weeknight. They were not super crowded, service was great unfortunately our food was only ok. I ordered the fried chicken. The coating had great flavor but the chicken itself was so overcooked in some parts that it was like a rock and I could not even eat it. Another member of our party got the BBQ Shrimp. It comes in full shell with legs. This really makes eating it more messy and work than it is worth. They should definitely change that dish to tails only. You lose a lot of flavor from the sauce after you peel the shrimp, no bueno. Another member of our party got the black rice vegetarian dish, she liked her dish except for the mushrooms which she said were too hard and chewy and not cooked enough. The last member of our group got the lamb, they liked their dish but unfortunately ended up with some gastrointestinal issues the next day :(. The appetizers of fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese were fantastic. Probably will not be going back anytime soon though.
I went in with high expectations and was underwhelmed. My steak was over cooked to the point of charred I ordered it mid rare and was well done. the potatoes was over cooked as well. The wife loved her Egg White Frittata. I'm not one to send food back I have worked in the restaurant industry in a high end steak house. I know how busy it gets especially on Easter . I will return one more time on a less busy day and we will go from there.
