The Southern Pecan is a casual restaurant celebrating the Gulf Coast cuisine that the owner, Monte Smith, grew up with. Our relaxed ambiance is created by artwork and music that pours blues and jazz into your visit. We have soul food that we can all relate to such as chicken and dumplings, macaroni and cheese, poboys, and tasty fried shrimp, oysters, and catfish. Opening on October 5th, we're ready to give you high level service, and dishes that are too good to be true. Make a reservation with us to have your first unique lunch or dinner at the Southern Pecan.

    What a gorgeous day to sit on the porch for lunch and enjoy a Bloody Mary. Southern Pecan is like the best of Grandma’s cooking with New Orleans sass and a French chef’s style. The BBQ shrimp is embarrassingly delicious with the best sauce- we always ask for more bread to sop ( that’s the embarrassing part)! A gorgeous stacked beet & goat cheese napoleon salad- beautiful presentation & equally amazing. My last course was the pecan fried catfish that I had red beans & rice and brussel sprouts- takes me back to the days in The Delta. Although the staff seemed a bit short staffed, they offered true service with a smile to our table. Always a pleasure!

    This was my girlfriend and I first time and it was a wonderful experience. Our waiter was amazing and he was very knowledgeable of the food and drinks. His recommendations was spot on and he was very prompt on his service. We definitely will be back to try out the brunch.

    I was very impressed during my first visit at this establishment. The menu was quite varied and the server was outstanding. She recommended the fried pecan crusted catfish. It was "perfectly" prepared, very light and savory. The sides were also terrific. I have the brocoli and the sweet potatoes. My great niece had the brocoli and the Louisiana rice. Unfortunately, we didn't have room to explore the desserts, but will probably do so next week when we return. Finally, the price was simply amazing. Dinner for two plus a 30% gratuity amounted to less than$50! Clearly the best bargain I've enjoyed in Charlotte.

    Service and ambience was awesome. Ordered veggie omelet and it was made with Feta Cheese as opposed to Swiss…very bitter taste but overall great experience.

    I would not recommend for brunch. We were highly disappointed with the food as most of us are from Louisiana and Florida. Also, our waitress was non-existent coming to our table to check on us and food didn't have any seasoning in it. We felt the food was overpriced for the cost.

    Their catfish specialty was excellent, particularly because of the butter sauce. Fried shrimp was a bit heavy on the breading. Brussel sprouts were a bit tough, so we would ask for them “soft” next time. Collards were good but not anything special. Corn bread was 6/10. Ambience is hip and rustic. Paid $100 for dinner for 2 (2 glasses of wine) and it was worth every penny.

    We were seated promptly but waited a bit for our server and a very long time to get our drinks from the bar even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded as it was a Monday night. The food was good, not outstanding and came out quickly. The biggest disappointment was the chicken and dumplings. The sauce was very tasty and the chicken tender but what was in the dish as “dumplings” was a mass of mush and disgusting
