The Southern Pecan is a casual restaurant celebrating the Gulf Coast cuisine that the owner, Monte Smith, grew up with. Our relaxed ambiance is created by artwork and music that pours blues and jazz into your visit. We have soul food that we can all relate to such as chicken and dumplings, macaroni and cheese, poboys, and tasty fried shrimp, oysters, and catfish. Opening on October 5th, we're ready to give you high level service, and dishes that are too good to be true.     Their catfish specialty was excellent, particularly because of the butter sauce. Fried shrimp was a bit heavy on the breading. Brussel sprouts were a bit tough, so we would ask for them “soft” next time. Collards were good but not anything special. Corn bread was 6/10. Ambience is hip and rustic. Paid $100 for dinner for 2 (2 glasses of wine) and it was worth every penny.

    We were seated promptly but waited a bit for our server and a very long time to get our drinks from the bar even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded as it was a Monday night. The food was good, not outstanding and came out quickly. The biggest disappointment was the chicken and dumplings. The sauce was very tasty and the chicken tender but what was in the dish as “dumplings” was a mass of mush and disgusting

    Food was good, above average but not amazing. Service was very disorganized and slow. Server was friendly but overall poor service.

    My husband took me and my good friend out for brunch for my birthday this weekend. I ordered the Farmhouse Benedict…the menu said it was served with “greens”. I double checked the pictures of the entree online which showed fresh, uncooked salad greens with pesto, tomatoes, bacon and poached eggs and hollandaise. But instead of fresh salad greens, they put collard greens on my eggs Benedict. I personally hate collard greens and I NEVER would have ordered this dish had I thought poached eggs would be served on cold oozy collard greens. When we asked the server if my dish had been made properly, she rolled her eyes and walked away. She came back 5 minutes later and said the chef said it was supposed to be that way. So, #1, if that’s the case - update your menu description to accurately reflect the dish ingredients (fresh salad greens vs collard greens - let people know what to expect!). #2, it’s not okay to be disrespected by your server when you simply ask a reasonable question. We were there for a fun, happy occasion and I felt like if I had asked for anything different than what I ordered that I would have ended up with spit or worse in my food. We were very disappointed and needless to say we will not go back.

    First visit to the restaurant and enjoyed the Sunday brunch menu options. The ambiance is beautiful and the service was good. The quiche was very tasty! The cornbread was delicious, now knowing that, the next time I'll skip the hushpuppies, which were okay but nothing compared to the cornbread! Definitely a good experience, worth a return visit for dinner.

    I’ve been to this restaurant before and was always happy but the last time was quite disappointing. The price value is just not worth it anymore and you could easily tell that regulars got more attention from the bartenders. We didn’t get the cornbread like we normally would but other guests got some which was odd. Again, always loved this restaurant but it’s not worth it anymore. $22 for a shrimp wedge salad and I think $18 for a veggie flatbread is just bold.

    They had two large parties ahead of us, causing a 30-40 minute delay in getting our food. But they did give a $15 discount for slow service

    Outstanding service. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. A very welcoming vibe. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits and braised short ribs. Rich and flavorful! The cocktails are spot on. We particularly enjoyed the Muddy Waters and cinnamon smoked Kentucky Mule. A must try in Southpark!

    Southern Pecan is a great late lunch spot for us in the SouthPark area. Always creative and delicious food. My Crab cakes were more crab than filler (my fav) with a fabulous green apple relish. Perfection! Our server Maggie P was outstanding!
