THE FOOD WAS TASTY, SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT, AMBIANCE WAS GOOD. WILLIAM, OUR SERVER, WAS OUTSTANDING IN RESPONDING TO OUR EVERY NEED EVEN BEFORE WE KNEW WE NEEDED IT!!!    Amber was our server; a delightful and well-informed person. Our food was good; the bread pudding especially outstanding. One issue: The restrooms are large but not ADA-compliant: toilets are too low and there are no grab bars.

   Excellent wine list, cocktails, and whisky selections. The three of us shared two appetizers, and absolutely loved the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese. We each had individual mains - fried chicken, salmon, and veggie enchiladas. The salmon was our least favorite, but still quite delicious. Great ambience. Shannon and Uri were helpful all evening.    Was really disappointed overall. Service was incredibly slow. I have 4 kids and we waited for 30 minutes before they even took the order. Then another 35+ to actually get the food. The waiter was nice but not attentive. The food was fine, nothing special but the cost was quite high. There is a 0% chance we're coming back.

   Went on Mother's Day and sat on their large, well-covered patio. This is the third time, so we knew it would be well protected from the heat. It was a little warm (94 degrees) but we were quite comfortable. The only sound issue was the louder cars - being right on Camelback. The service was great and the food was exceptional. The gumbo is really good as were the shrimp po' boy, mac & cheese, and dirty rice balls.

    My boyfriend and I went for dinner for our anniversary and had terrific service from Phillip and fantastic food. We were treated to beignets at the end of the meal, the perfect topper. Excellent evening over all!

    We ate outside and it was very loud with traffic noise. The food was fantastic but a bit overpriced for certain menu items. Our service was solid but not personal. We would go again for the great food but eat indoors. Shopping at Changing Hands afterwards made it a nice relaxing evening.

    Several reviews we read said this a great place to eat. One review stated the food was very salty. I didn't think the food was salty, It was very delicious. The waiter was very courteous and quick in serving us. Watching the other waiters I noted that they were all moving very quickly and with a purpose. Somewhat of a distance from where we live but a great place to dine.

    My dining companion ordered the fried chicken and loved it. We both had the Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and while they were tasty, they had whole unmashed chunks of potato in them. Some smaller pieces & skins included for texture in mashed potatoes is a plus, but that was a bit much. My entree was the flatiron steak, which I had requested medium rare. It tasted just fine, but was a tad past medium and was rather small for a $43 steak. To be honest, I’ve received better steaks at a certain national chain for a much more reasonable price tag. All in all this was a good experience, but with so many other options available, I doubt if I’ll be dining here again any time soon.

    everything we ate was great- fried chicken, deviled eggs, rolls, fried green tomatoes, root vegetable enchilada, salad... hot and tasty drinks were great too! staff was very friendly and service oriented- had a happy birthday sign on table for my husband when we arrived- staff all wished him happy birthday! and they had music on Thursday night that was fantastic! And they gave us beignets on the house for a birthday treat!

    Dining at Southern Rail is always enjoyable. The food is great and the service is fantastic. They offer indoor and patio dining, and with a choice of booth or table, it is easy to accommodate groups of any size.

    It was a fantastic evening of Jazz and 1/2 price bottles of wine. It had been a while since I had last been there and Sunday night didn't disappoint. The music was wonderful, the company was excellent, the staff was amazing, and the food was delicious. I look forward to returning in the near future.

    Love the character at Southern Rail. It's charming. Service was good but not great, had to wait a while to get our drinks ordered, after that our server was good and attentive. The food was very good and we look forward to trying more on the menu. Fried green tomatoes and the Mac and Cheese appetizers were fantastic! They do have live music but the only place for the band to be is right in the corner of the outoor pation and it was WAY too loud. We were originally seated right next to the band and we could not even talk to eachother so we asked to be moved which they did. Love the live music, just too loud for the space.

    This was a first visit for 12 of us. We ate a variety of dishes, but mostly the signature fried chicken dinner and the gumbo ya ya. Both were very good and the portions of chicken were large enough to bring home left overs. The sides of greens and mash potatoes were tasty but would have liked more. Wait staff was friendly and accommodating. The place was clean and attractive. Bathrooms were clean. We chose our time to hear the jazz. Good small group jazz, but we were too busy socializing to really appreciate the music. Next time we'll do a smaller group to appreciate the music.

    Easter Day, My sister & I wanted to have dinner together. We looked up for live jazz bands therefore, one of the Choices were Southern Rail. We thought we give it a shot. When we got there they had an issue with seating us. Also, I forgot to mention we had an RESERVATION therefore Red Flag number1. After figuring out where we were going to sit, we all decided to go outside it’s a Beautiful day & it’s Easter as well! We finally made it to our seat but the table were needed to be cleaned. We asked the host can we have the table wipe down because it were dusty & had leaves & the dirt from outside blown on it from the wind. He stated oh we fine it’s only Mother Nature just the good out doors being sarcastic Red Flag number 2. Because we had on white dresses & we didn’t want to stain them nor wanted to place our belongings as well as our purses on a dirty table! We wipe the stool off we our hands and sat down anyway so we don’t cause a scene. We noticed that another host seated the other party that was standing behind us & the host wipe down their table right in front of them & they didn’t even have to ASK nor any no confusion/confrontation. Red Flag number 3 My sister & I both looked at one another & were like what is going on? Finally another host came & she cleaned the table off serve us cocktails while we listen to the live band. The live band was the only great thing about the entire Experience we had. We order 2 margaritas, 1 bowl of gumbo, 1 Iron steak dinner, their famous chicken dinner and for dessert we ordered their beignet! No complaints/nor issues on the food. But, we did have another issue on the bill they double charged us. Red Flag number 4. therefore, the host were apologetic about it & she fixed it with no problem. Just way to many red Flags without any reason nor explanation. I just don’t understand why we were getting treated differently than everyone else! We ate & left didn’t get to enjoy the band nor our Easter. Definitely a memory experience!

    Loved the music on Sunday. Server was friendly and attentive. Host would not set us at a table for 4 said reserved for larger parties then they proceeded to seat 4 other sets of 2 people at those tables, not happy since we had to sit next to a wall. Fried green tomatoes were delicious, sad that they don't serve okra anymore.

    The shrimp and grits is amazing but maybe not worth $30. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly but other than that there was nothing special about it. They wouldn’t sub out grits for the mashed potatoes even though those were both side options for other plates. The meatloaf was not as big as expected for $30 and it was dry. But dipping it in the mashed potatoes made it more tolerable. I’d say the atmosphere was great and the drinks and service were nice too but the food kinda fell short for the price point.

    After a slip over last few years pleased to say Tye and the crew are back at the top. Food was great as it used to be. Service was good. Only complaint is the bar needs to be able to make a true “sidecar” Their attempt woefully lacking. But only a small item that needs to be addressed. Glad to have this phoenix gem back in top form!!

    Food was GREAT. Our server was doing the best he could with what he had but the place was understaffed. So drinks/food took a little longer, but don’t let that discourage you from coming. The food and ambiance was really nice and my review is just a snapshot in time. It was busy but we still really enjoyed our food and time with our guests. And the Fried Green Tomatoes with Pimento Cheese aren’t to be missed. The Shrimp and Grits are heavenly.. The Scottish Salmon is to die for. But, at $250 for a table of 4.. I wouldn’t expect to wait on drinks/food or have any errors that needed to be corrected.

    The restaurant was pretty empty the whole time we were there. The lights were too bright, the live music on the patio sounded excellent other than that it is a really good restaurant that we will return to. Kitchen execution solid and server Shanon was new but very good.

    The dirty rice ball and French Bistro toasts were tasty appetizers. The special meatloaf entrée is delicious and in good portions. The bourbon flight was smooth and complex in taste. Overall a great first experience. Will go back again and again.

    Overall, we had a great experience. Food was great, although a bit pricey. The menu is limited, but the food was good. Also, they had us leave the restaurant as they closed at 9:00 on a Friday, so be aware you will be out by 9:00.
