The Sou'Wester Restaurant and Gift Shop began in 1967 as a small five table tearoom at the side of a house at its present location. It has been expanded over the last five decades to a 180-seat restaurant offering traditional Maritime and seafood dishes, and a two-level gift shop with one of the Maritimes largest selections of giftware. Today, more than 50 years later, The Sou'Wester is still run by the family of its founder, Jack Campbell.

    When we arrived & said we had a reservation the Hostess commented that she never received notice of reservations. So be aware! Luckily there was space for us. This restaurant has a family limited menu and good (not great) food. It is a bit overpriced but considering they are in a busy tourist destination, they can get away with it. Nothing fancy, adequate.

    Waitress was outstanding and food was very good. A bit crowded because the cruise ship buses arrived after we got there. But overall a great experience with a good view.

    It was very busy at Peggy’s Cove. Had to park out on the highway and walk in. Perhaps spaces close by could be allocated to those diii g at restaurant But restaurant was spacious and seemed to handle the crowds easily. Love the new outdoor seating. Wait staff were speedy and the food was delicious

    I ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese, it did not disappoint! It was loud inside as it was very busy so we sat outside underneath the table with the umbrella and soaked in the view. It was awesome! We will recommend and will be dining there in the near future!

    We ordered 2 fish sandwiches and scallops for an app.. we waited 45 minutes and finally the waitress came out with the sandwiches and brought out the app after she served the meal. Poor service, mediocre food.. would never recommend this restaurant

    The food was excellent, mine was lobster mac’n cheese. Generous portion, delicious. Server couldn’t have been more pleasant or attentive even on a busy afternoon. Table location was unfortunate, you should make a special request. Greeting and seating was a bit of a problem. We were left standing for quite a while with no means of letting the host know we had reserved. Awkward and uncomfortable. Noise was bad. Still, wonderful servers and great food. Don’t skip the gingerbread.

    Great experience overall in a beautiful setting! Staff was polite and very friendly. Service was a bit slow / chaotic at times but it was quite busy when we were there. Had an amazing experience regardless and would highly recommend a visit!

    Mostly good food. 2 of our guests ordered the baked fish and weren't too impressed, but the rest of us really enjoyed our meals. The seafood chowder was exceptional! Great views from the restaurant. We saw the sun set over the water and it was beautiful!

    Always a treat after a walk in the rocks! Coffee is great. Brunch has been a nice addition to the selections. All my favourites. If you have saved any room, gingerbread is waiting. Yum!

    Visited on a Sunday lunch time. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food! Will definitely be back. The view from our table was amazing!

    We arrived a few moments early for our table and were greeted with an angry hostess. The wait staff was very slow and did not check on our table enough or offer water. There was a HAIR in one our dishes and we had to sent another dish back due to the wrong order and they brought the exact same plate back. There was a bite out of the toast and it was just transferred over to the right plate. A bit of a disappointment for sure. The lobster roll was cold and there were more fries than lobster and the price was very very inflated. View was great! Shop was a bit outdated.

    Our reservation number 743 was at 1;00 p.m. when we arrived at the restaurant we were told our reservation had been given to another party. Apparently a phone call was received changing our reservation to 3:00 p.m. I had not made that phone call. I’m suggesting that the reservation number should be required when changing the time. It would avoid any future confusion. Fortunately we just had to wait a few extra minutes before we were assigned a table.

    I sent an email to confirm if I can bring my dog and seat in the patio for food. The answer is yes. So, I made the reservation. However when I was there, they told me patio closed and they don’t guarantee reservation for patio. What a joke !

    Our lunch at the Sou’Wester was great. The food was tasty (we had lobster club sandwiches; our daughter has fish and chips) and we had a nice (indoor) view of the lighthouse. Our server, Lindsey, was delightful! She did a wonderful job. The only constructive feedback is that a reservation needs to be made because of tour buses coming through, and definitely check that your reservation through Open Table was received- ours was fine, but another group did not have their reservation received by the restaurant despite evidence via email and text. An overall excellent experience!

    3/4 orders were wrong, eggs overcooked. I couldn't dip my under toasted bread. bacon was very thin and not crispy, sausages were good, ambiance and the view was great.

    The $32 lobster club sandwich (recommended by the server vs. the lobster roll) had at most an 1/8 cup of lobster. You could barely see it let alone taste it. A tourist trap for sure.

    Wonderful food and very prompt and friendly service, despite the huge crowds on this perfectly sunny day at Peggy's Cove. We were made to feel like real people instead of simply customers. Our reserved table with a view was perfect. Well done, hostesses, servers, kitchen staff, and manager.

    My husband and I ordered Fish and Chips for 16.99, and my mom-in-law ordered a bowl of seafood chowder for $12.99. When our meals arrived, my mom-in-law got a small size of soup in a bowl. It was not much chunky, or plentiful. I noticed our fish and chips were in the same bowl that mom had her soup. The fries are smaller with a side of coleslaw in the bowl and one piece of crispy breaded fish on top of plenty of fries and coleslaw. The taste was good. I'd recommend having the best fish and chips at Grand Banker Bar & Grill. They served generous plates and were so reasonable price! My mom-in-law did enjoy the soup, but the price isn't.

    Great location right by the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove. We visited on a warm July afternoon. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm, despite the attached gift shop being comfortable and obviously air conditioned. Our server was amazing - sorry, I didn't catch her name. Joking and friendly with all the customers, always upbeat despite being very busy at the time. My wife had the grilled halibut, which was excellent. The vegetable medley that accompanied it was disappointing. I had a whole lobster which was rather tough and tasteless, unfortunately. The accompanying potato salad was scant and disappointing. Overall, I felt we overpaid for the experience.
