The Sou'Wester Restaurant and Gift Shop began in 1967 as a small five table tearoom at the side of a house at its present location. It has been expanded over the last five decades to a 180-seat restaurant offering traditional Maritime and seafood dishes, and a two-level gift shop with one of the Maritimes largest selections of giftware. Today, more than 50 years later, The Sou'Wester is still run by the family of its founder, Jack Campbell.

This was a great choice for brunch on New Year's Day. We had a table in the window and enjoyed a simple meal of bacon, eggs, and toast. Service was quick and efficient and very cheerful. We appreciated the well-spaced tables.

Myself and my girlfriends have had an annual Christmas brunch and gift exchange at the Sou’wester for years. Last year was a sad year as almost everything was locked down and we had to stay in our family bubble. It was a joyous feeling to be sitting at the Sou’wester on a beautiful cold and sunny day in our regular corner, eating a delicious breakfast, coupled with good service, good coffee, laughter and friends. We hope to be able to do our annual Christmas brunch at the Sou’wester for a long time to come.
Thank you Sou’wester!

Hi
in our party of 5, two of us had fish & chips (1 pc). We both had a problem keeping our food on the 'too small' plates. Also, my fish was quite dry (overdone)...chips were terrific.
The whole experience was good
i'd say a 4 star

Very nice. Missed the lovely warm rolls they used to serve to welcome us, but you can’t beat the view. Our server was very friendly.

It was my husband’s birthday. He ordered the two piece fish and chips. Being from Nova Scotia we’ve eaten a lot of fish and chips. Considering this is a restaurant at one of Nova Scotia’s heritage sites, we expected the highest quality, however his comment is “fair“. I ordered the most expensive entrée(other than a lobster dinner) at $25 for the halibut dinner. Halibut being expensive and not easily come by, I too expected it to be of the highest quality. The fish was over done, mashed potatoes just warm and the boiled vegetables under done. The coleslaw was delicious.
We had a second waitress ask us if there was anything we needed, my husband said he would like to have some ketchup. She never brought it. I also noticed she was waiting on another table, and they too reminded her that she had forgotten to bring some thing to their table.
Our reservation was for 4:30 PM. It wasn’t busy. We were expecting it to be fairly quiet. However one group that sat in the corner table by the big windows, had a male family member who was too loud. They left, shortly after a father and his two children came in. One of the children was quite loud. I realize the restaurant has no control over noisy patrons.
It’s very much a dated diner ambiance. I think it’s time for an interior update/refresh to coincide with the addition of the beautiful observation deck being constructed outside.
I was disappointed with our experience in the restaurant. I’ve heard from many people that it was a great restaurant with great food. Being a proud Nova Scotian, I was really expecting and hoping that it would be a positive memorable experience, so we too could “brag“ about the restaurant at Peggy’s Cove.
We weren’t bothered by the construction surrounding the restaurant, as we were expecting that. We enjoyed our time outside on the rocks and around the lighthouse.

We had a window table with a great view. We really enjoyed that. The food was ok, I had fish tacos which I quite enjoyed. I wish I could say the same for the scallop burger. It was extremely over cooked, dry, and tasteless. The cole slaw was great! The gingerbread, usually very good, was over cooked as well. Service was good.

Love the view of the Peggy's Cove light house. Our waitress was the best and the seafood was fresh. I have never been to Peggy's Cove with so few people but that is because of the virus

Took my girlfriend to Peggy’s Cove for her birthday as we were visiting from Winnipeg. The waitress was very friendly and the food came VERY quickly (fish and chips along with seafood chowder). For desert we got the blueberry pie and told the waitress it was her birthday, she even put a candle in the pie making our experience very special.
