Anniversary dinner. Good service although all staff wore masks apart from 1 which was strange. The food was great - fresh, spicy and hot. Esp loved the lamb methi curry and chilli paneer. Relatively pricey for a local night out but thoroughly enjoyed and will be back

The staff were very pleasant and professional, however it was obvious that there was not enough of them there and they were very rushed in serving the customers. We had not finished or received all starters when the main course dishes arrived. So there was too many items on the table and a feeling that they want us out quickly. The quality of food was excellent.

As Spice Rack has always been our favourite restaurant, we decided to visit on our anniversary. I even called ahead to ensure they knew it was our anniversary and to ask for a nice area to sit in. Upon arrival we were seated in a corner and asked to sit on one side of the table so other guests could dine on the table next to us. There was no acknowledgement of our anniversary and instead other couples were seated in the nice, quieter places where they could sit comfortably and talk openly. There were various dishes which were taken off the menu (we were informed about this as we began ordering) and I must admit the food that came out was a huge disappointment. Overall, we just didn’t feel welcome and wished we had gone elsewhere! I can only go off the review I wrote years ago, giving spice rack 5 stars. It’s sad there has been such a drastic change in my review and I should have listened to family and friends when they said it was not worth going there anymore. Unfortunately, I will definitely not be returning and will take my loyalty elsewhere.

Best curry I’ve had in a long while. Lovely! The new decor is much better. Only negative is that the popadoms were disappointing.

Disappointing. Have been coming here for many years and although lots of money spent on doing the place up which looks really nice, quality of food is right down. Used to be able to taste individual spices. Now most dishes seem similar. Sauces are all the same just different heat and different meats. Dry fries are still really good. Will be trying the other supposedly authentic restaurants in the area such as purple flame and the Abercorn, funky browns or the honeypot .

I cannot fault the staff who were friendly and helpful even on a busy evening. I thought the food was average, nothing special. I will probably not return and will try other restaurants.

Took ages for the waitress to bring our drinks asked for a bottle of Prosecco and bought a mini bottle! Apologised and brung the correct bottle size. Ordered 2 starters paneer tikka and chilli garlic mushrooms. The paneer tikka was over cooked extremely over charred on the edges was awful. Again apologised and sent a replacement dish which was better and different marinade. The other dish they got wrong and bought chilli garlic mogo instead of the mushrooms! Complained again and they apologise and told us to keep the mogo. The mushrooms came after waiting for over 15mins but was very tasty. The mogo had too much salt and complained about that even though we didn’t order it. Service was ok. Decor was lovely after the refurbishment. The manager only charged the bottle of Prosecco and mushrooms dish. All in all a very average experience hopefully improves over time. Don’t know if we will go back to eat though.
