Stanley's Bar and Grill
Enjoyed our meal there, we had our wedding reception there 44 years ago.
I rarely write negative reviews, but this place was AWFUL!!! The service was non-existent...the food was miserable. A few people left while we were there...they got sick of waiting/not having anyone come to take orders. Do yourself a favor: pick anyplace else!
Lovely environment. Very busy dinner crowd before Theatre Under the Stars. The food is expensive.
Not enough servers. The location would be great for a private party. We
What a nice dinner choice before the theater in the park. The food was well priced and delicious. I loved the compressed watermelon salad. The service was great and it was perfect to walk across the lawn to go to the theater.
Very unique place - catch a Theater under the Stars before the season ends this week!
Food was good. Location was fantastic. Service was below par. Did not get a second cup of coffee. The server had too many tables. We still enjoyed our meal.
The food was OK! It was a situational restaurant! Close to TUTS. Otherwise just OK!
My first time around was a horrible experience, but I gave it a second chance, food was fair the service was terrible. I will not be coming back and I will tell my friends why. Sorry
The location is perfect when attending Tuts. I was disappointed in service; we ordered cokes and the waiter brought us very watered down drinks; when I mentioned that the drinks did not taste right; he said that they had run out of syrup for the drinks. He did take them back but he should have offered us other drinks for free or apologize -
Great diner and place to go with friends and see TUTS!
Lovely table for 3 on the porch - it felt like dining in a tree house. That was the best part. We had a child with us - no healthy options for kids dining, but they grilled a piece of salmon for him. He didn't like it because it was burned black on one side. Portion of french fries was $7. Not a great value. One meal was wrong item - the correct item didn't arrive until the others were finished, so overall it was not a great experience. We won't be going back.
Excellent. The food and service were fabulous! We got there early and staff was able to accommodate us. Great meal before Tuts.
Disappointing service. There was an error made with my order. Beverages ordered delivered after the meal arrived.
Our waitress was attentive, polite and very accommodating. Even though one in our party was not eating, she made us feel welcomed. Food was delicious. Service was prompt.
This is a great place to have dinner before going to Theatre Under The Stars. Excellent choice of menu items for a casual dinner. They have a child's menu. A good selection of craft bears and wine selection is also available. Our server was excellent. Best to have a reservation - the place fills up quickly on a TUTS night. Prices are very reasonable!
We enjoyed the ambience of the outdoor deck and the friendly, competent staff. Our biggest complaint was the music which was loud and made conversation difficult. Soft background Music would have been preferable!
A convent location for a meal prior to attending Theatre under the stars but the food is less than good for the inflated price.
Our group consisted of 5 people. Stanley's was a convenient place to eat before the TUTS performance. The food was good, our server was attentive and it was a lovely evening to dine on the porch outside. Thanks!
On this particular occasion, the meal went well, the drinks were good, the timing of our entrees was very good, the waiter was excellent, and we were in and out in less than 45 min. A perfect place to eat before attending the musicals at Malkin Bowl in the summer time.
We just had a bad waitress, otherwise everything else was great
There were two very obnoxious loud drunk fellows at a table beside us that were noisy and disruptive. All the nearby tables were obviously unhappy with this situation and the staff did nothing. In fact, the drunks seemed to know the staff. Left a very unpleasant impression on us.
Overall a very good dinner for the 5 of us. However, one of the group ordered the salmon, and the portion was very small. Having been here a few weeks earlier and having the salmon myself the portion difference was incredible. 4 of us had burgers and ordered onions and mushrooms (a menu item), we were told they were very low so we wouldn't all be able to have it. 2 of us changed our order, the remaining burgers came with only a few onions and mushrooms. Having dined here several times in the past we chalked it up to a difficult night in the kitchen. We will return and keep our fingers crossed it was only a one off. A very pretty venue with a park setting and perfect dinner spot when attending TUTS!
Went here for dinner with friends before TUTS. Food was passable but service was horrible. No fewer than 5 errors made with dinner for 4, no substitutions or special requests, just a completely clueless and rude server.
Ate here because we were going to a show at TUTS afterwards. Service was good. Food was average. My partner had the beef burger and I had the chicken burger. We both agreed they were dry...needed more sauce. My partner had a beer and I tried the blended raspberry lemonade, it was very good.
The food was great! We ordered a few appetizers and it came quickly and was just what we were looking for, (although the humus was a bit short on bread). However, the overall service was not good. I had listed the occasion was for a birthday and a half-hearted attempt to acknowledge this was made from the hostess, who was at least trying. The server, who never even acknowledged or asked what brought us in, took over 10 minutes to greet us and was very brisk. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time and the drinks took as long as the food to come. Unfortunately, when the drinks did come, the wrong drink was served and after asking 3 people to request our server or for some help, the correct drink wasn’t even addressed until the end of the meal. Normally, not a huge issue, except that in this case it was a dietary restriction so undrinkable and very hot outside. More disappointing was that, of the multiple employees we asked, not one offered to assist us, on the contrary, they shrugged and said it wasn’t their problem. Additionally, not enough side plates were given for the food which made it a bit awkward. Lastly, there was also an error on the bill, which was addressed promptly. On a side note, there is only one single stall bathroom for a pretty busy restaurant- expect a long wait. Ultimately, if you can go in with extremely low expectations for service, the food was good enough quality to maybe give it another try, but it wouldn’t be my first (or second) choice.
Service was horrid, forgot our drink orders three times, when he finally came back with our last drink order it had been sitting so long the ice was melted and top quarter of the drink was water. Food was great, location was great but the service vacillated between being forgotten and being rushed which made for a poor experience overall.
Beautiful setting, good food, good service. My complaint is that we learned only during our meal that the restaurant was closing early (a half-hour after our reservation time) "because of fireworks" on that day. The web site did not have that early-closing information posted, nor were we informed when we first arrived. We were rushed out before we would have finished the meal otherwise; this was unexpected and unpleasant.
Great as a pre-theater dinner experience. We had a reservation on the patio and were seated promptly. Thoroughly enjoyed that atmosphere in lovely weather, and our party of three definitely had a great, casual dining experience before stepping right next door to TUTS for the show.
Dinner out before Theatre Under The Stars. Very convenient location to eat before show as you’re literally right there by the show entrance. Great staff, location and service.
Hamburger and Spaghetti seemed to be reasonable portions. But, for the two of us who chose the salmon dinner, the salmon was good/fresh/tasty, but portion small and little accompanied it; some rice and lettuce leaves. Went to Theatre Under the Stars and immediately bought snacks to eat to fill up.
Overall it was a good experience. Food was decent, service was attentive even though they were super busy. And the restaurant was exactly what we wanted in the Park. Prices were good during happy hour. And you can't complain about the venue. Love the big outdoor patio.
The staff are fabulous here. There customer service is on. This is a tourist hot spot in the summer as one of the buses stops there. It is a great venue to go to before Theatre under the Stars right beside it. It is my little get away when I want to feel like I am not in the City. Surrounded by gardens.
Your welcoming hostess was quite wonderful, caring and took care of our concerns and reservation very well. Our server was excellent as were the additional servers who helped when our meals were presented for the six of us.
Our only disappointment was the quality of wines. Although it is good to see you offering a BC wine, there are many other excellent moderately priced BC wines that outshine the Mission Hill wines you serve. Otherwise, our evening was complete and enjoyable.
Our special occasion was going to Theatre under the Stars with our family.
We also were very pleased with your Open Table reservation system. Easy, intuitive, good follow-up and friendly.
The food was great. The service was poor. Our appetizer and meals came within minutes of each other. The waiter rushed us when we were going to order dessert. He didn't check if we needed water or fill ups of our sangria. I noticed the table beside us needed drinks.
Great location, service was good. We ordered fish & chips and BBQ pork ribs....Ribs were excellent,
fish and chips were poor.....frozen blue cod was dry and flavourless.... why are you serving FROZEN dried out fish......won't be back in a hurry for sure! Our waiter was somewhat disappointed that we weren't happy, however, didn't say much other than, I'll let the kitchen know! Does the kitchen really care??????
Booked dinner in advance of TUTS performance - very organized front desk, right on time with our reservation. Kitchen did a good job of getting our orders out so able to enjoy a relaxed meal. A varied menu including some gluten-free items (I am a celiac) - reasonable prices
Went to TUTs 42nd street. Service was prompt & accommodating. Fish & Chips was sub par. Hamburger average. Red Thai curry excellent but side of chicken overdone. Chile Tequila Shrimp starter was great. Regular coffee was ditch water - server suggested replacing with cappuccino - done.
Great place for having dinner before theater under the stars. Food was good and so was service. Definetly recommend
Great location. Especially if going to TUTS. Chili tequila chili are good. But I'm afraid, don't order the fish and chips.
Gran vista del Stanley Park, a minutos del acuario. Muy cómodo y buena atención.
The burger was great, very tasty, the rest of the meal was very unpleasant. Very dissapointed in the fish and chips anf thai curried prawns. Must say service was pretty good, lots of staff on, but the patio has a definite slant to it and the chairs were not real comfy. All in all it was okay, not fabulous, we normally take a picnic to Theatre Under The Stars, thought we would try this, but pretty sure we are going back to our picnic...
