I booked a table of 8 for a Saturday evening at 6:30 pm with friends before the Bright Nights Train. Unfortunately it was not an enjoyable dinner. We were still eating our dinner when the servers started placing chairs on the empty tables around us, and then our server came and asked us if we wanted coffee or desert, or any other drinks as they would be closing the bill. We ordered another drink, and then completed our dinner. The servers turned up the lights very brightly, and then they started loading in the buffet from the event next door. The servers were then eating their dinner around us and we were asked to settle out bills. We had to wait outside in the rain, as our tickets for the train were not until 9:30. We got to the train at 8:45 and they were very helpful in getting us on early, as it was a cold and wet night. The Stanley is a very lovely atmosphere and so nice to have a pub style restaurant in the lovely pavillion building and close to the train. The food was really great, but the management of the staff, customer service and the lack of information on the hours of operation is very lacking.
Lights could be dimed a little as it was rather bright
Menu was adequate for a quick bit, could be more choices
The service was quite fine once we finally got some. We arrived and were passed by repeatedly by staff. Eventually we were seated where we were again left waiting so long that we were debating on leaving. The whole time this was happening it wasn't even busy. Once our waitress came over everything began to flow quite well. The sangria was good and so was the food. Neither of which took long to arrive once ordered which was surprising given our experience when we arrived. A little on three pricey side but we were there for happy hour which made it a better value. Surprised it wasn't busier for happy hour because the setting in the park is beautiful.
Charming location, nice large patio, friendly staff! I found the menu uninspiring along with the quality of food. I would return for drinks however.
A great spot to have a meal and a cool drink when visiting Stanley Park.
It seemed pretty sleepy at 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday but it was enjoyable as always.
We had a great dinner. We were seated right away and they let us stay quite a bit after closing to finish our drinks.
Great dining experience. We shared the pumpkin ravioli and pulled pork quesadillas. Absolutely delicious. The spiked lemonade slushie was perfect for a summer evening cocktail before going to the theatre. Will definitely be back again.
Good food and friendly helpful staff. Great patio location and so convenient for dinner before Theatre under the Stars, a nice evening and walk to the fireworks, or a day in Stanley Park.
Great afternoon out, awesome selection of craft beer. Worth a visit!
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The fish and chips were very tasty & large portioned. Great place to grab a bite before going to see the "Theater under the stars" close by.
Casual atmosphere and decent menu with lots of local offerings in an old mansion surrounded by spectacular Stanley Park. Service was relaxed and attentive. Great combo with TUTS on a summer eve.
Totally enjoyed our lunch. Our server looked after us well, there when we needed them. The food was plentiful and delicious. The Executive Chef visited our table and thanked us visiting the restaurant.
The new menu was good There were more items to choose from and a good variety.
The service was fabulous. We all had the fish and chips and the fish was a little tough and the cole slaw had no discernible taste.
We enjoyed a wonderful experience on August 19. We had a difficult time getting there as we were rerouted due to a cycling event and then got caught in a traffic jam due to an accident but each time we called to explain that we were going to be late we were treated with care and understanding. Our waitress was amazing! She was competent, friendly and most accommodating at all times. We all enjoyed our meals.
The only negative was the one washroom, in the building, for both men and women! Both upstairs and downstairs lineups were long!
We will be back!
Eat here when we go to Theatre Under the Stars. Always good food a d a nice variety.
Very convenient for dinner when attending Theatre under the Stars.
Our experience was disappointing which is a shame as we had a good experience last time. It is so convenient to go there for dinner before TUTS which we attend yearly. There were 7 of us and we did not feel any of us got good value for our money. Some portions were very large but did not arrive at our table nice and hot. The pumpkin ravioli was a very small portion and was not all that tasty. The lady who ordered that meal was left not only disappointed in her choice but still hungry as well. The waiter although friendly at first ignored us for most of the meal and did not ask if we wanted dessert or coffee and just assumed we were done. He brought us the bill and we then had to say we wanted dessert and coffee. He then was unable to split our bill into 7 separate bills and after 2 tries he gave up and split the bill 7 ways which was not at all fair to our driver who did not have an alcoholic drink. Sadly we all left the table feeling frustrated and disappointed. This was not our experience last summer when we all had a delicious meal and great service. A few of us felt we may have gotten better service if we had been ordering more drinks or if we had been a group of 20 somethings rather than a group of 50 somethings.
Convenient spot for pre-show dinner. Food was good but service was a bit slow and our requests were quickly forgotten!
Our experience was enjoyable. The service was excellent and food very good. The perfect experience before TUTS.
Had dinner here prior to Theatre Under the Stars show. Server was prompt and asked us if we were going to the show so that he could make sure we were out on time. Food was delicious, and being right in Stanley Park the surrounds were amazing.
We throughly enjoyed the service, food and atmosphere at the restaurant.
It took the server (male), at the end of the meal, quite a long time to bring us the bill. I had to ask another waiter a second time to ask our waiter to do so.
Very disappointed 😔 we ordered salmon with risotto risotto was tasteless and dry, the salmon was over cooked.
The Food was tasty. The Salmon was a bit dry. The pumpkin pasta - could have been more on the plate. This venue is excellent if you plan to see Theatre under the stars.
We were glad we made a reservation as it was a very busy night in the restaurant. Overall we were happy with our meal and would go again :)
I really enjoyed the Stanley Bar + Grill! My date and I both got the chicken burger, which was delicious and very flavourful. It's located close to many attractions in Stanley Park such as the Vancouver Aquarium and Theatre Under the Stars. Service was great and quick! Would definitely recommend.
Great pre-theatre spot but you pay a premium for the tourist location in Stanley Park. Food is mediocre and overpriced but you can't beat the location.
It will be good to find a way (environment friendly) bugs /insects/flies remover. The whole time we were there we have to use coaster to cover our drinks. The veggie burger was super dry and the onion rings were rock hard. It's shame to have such beautiful setting and not getting at least 4 stars type of food.
We really enjoyed our evening here for a light supper before TUTS. The Fish and Chips were the best ever. Service very good, surroundings in the park beautiful.
Nice outdoor restaurant with good food and very convenient if you are going to Malkin Bowl Theatre Under the Stars in Stanley Park. The salmon was delicious!
Have gone many times and always enjoyed the meal.
We attend every year before we see the plays at TUTS. We are always happy with the food and the service. Matt was our waiter this time and he was really great. Attentive without being intrusive. We will be back in a week for the next play.
Dinner with our grandkids pre TUTS. Great service and everyone enjoyed their meal. We will make this a yearly event.
We ordered the chef plates- fried chicken and beef chuck and they were outstanding, very nice meal before the theatre.
TUTS and Stanley's Bar and Grill together are a natural fit!
Server Katie made the experience very enjoyable.
A really great tradition - we have dinner every year before TUTS and it is always a good experience
Perfect setting in the park. Just right for a meal and a play at the Theater Under the Stars.
This restaurant has an excellent location & clearly survives on this only. The food was mediocre pub fare and the tables and chairs looked as though they were bought from a Motel 6 café.
We went just before a performance at Theater Under the Stars. The food was good, but not particularly great. Service was a little slow, as it was quite busy. But overall it's a nice option when visiting Stanley Park.
Great meal. Great experience. I loved the server's plaid shirts!
The only thing that would have made it better was the timing. I realize that the restaurant was busy but our drinks came with the meal instead of beforehand (while we had quite a lengthy wait, maybe 15 - 20 minutes). It would have been appreciated to have a chance to enjoy our beers before the dinner arrived.
