Stanley's Bar and Grill
Have been going for a few years before our TUTS events. Menu selection needs updating. We celebrate one of our friend's birthday every year at the Stanley B & G, as TUTS musicals run at that time.
Otherwise $16 parking is expensive.
All three of our group had the fish and chips and all three of us were incredibly disappointed. Tasted like something out of a box. The washrooms were beyond disgusting. Love the patio but the food and cleanliness could and should be way better.
Hope when I come for TUTS next month its better.
Excellent surprise find for a very tasty dinner with grandchildren before the show at theatre under the stars.
Had dinner with my 2 daughters before attending tuts show at Malkin bowl.
Good fish and chips, also the veggie burger. Seafood chowder was a small cup, but nice flavour.
Service was not rushed but friendly. I will certainly return, possibly for lunch and to try other dishes.
Sadly our service wasn’t good- we arrived at 6:00 for dinner before a show and pretty much were told to hurry up ( our show right next door started at 8:00) he forgot to order our appetizer when we asked for it said “ do you still want it”? The food was just ok- nothing special- we ate it.
The food was not very good. A very strange menu. Not much choice. Great service and very friendly. Cant beat the ambience
To be fair they were totally swamped. It took over an hour to get an order of two caesar salads, one with chicken, and a burger. And the food was ok but had that, 'prepared/prepped many many hours ago' taste. To be fair the setting is beautiful, the restaurant itself is quaint, the patio is lovely, stanley park is a national treasure, the staff and servers were engaged and sincere and skilled, but the kitchen is simply no match for that many tables. But, I will probably go back because I like being there so much. But the food... I'm sure that they can and want to do so much better.
They seemed to be in a hurry to get us in and out. My husbands soup came out within 5 minutes of placing order. After that his meal came very quickly while mine didn’t. My husband had finished his meal and his plate was taken away before mine showed up. The server just dropped my meal in the middle of the table as he didn’t know who it was for. The waitress did not address the problem other to say it was crazy in the kitchen. No compensation was offered. Very poor service.
THE NEW SUMMER 2018 MENU IS THE BEST YET. We come every year for Theater under the stars and this is by far the best food. The service was not great due to the sheer volume of tables our server had. Between the reservations and the walk ins the hostesses fill the place up so everyone can get to the show. This fine if the kitchen can handle it and the kitchen was great. The issue was that we waited 20 minutes before our server even came to our table. Simple solution : more servers :)
Food, sangria and desserts were awesome tho.
This was our last holiday day in Vancouver and we had a lovely meal with a very friendly and helpful waiter to serve us. Our daughter has coeliac disease and the gluten free options were excellent.
lovely location, excellent service. food not great
Stanley Park is our go-to place to eat in the park. The options for vegetarians are always super yummy. The veggie poutine wins everytime.
Food ok. The waitress was kind but away and far all the time. We ordered starters and mains and they brought everything together!!! I have requested on the reservation to have my daughter's birthday acknowledge on a desert and I had to remind them about that. They finally did it and the table had all the dishes from the mains, we had to push it all to the closest table to get at least some pictures. So many small things that I don't want to mention. Last but not least, we had an obligatory 18% service (we were 6 including a baby) included on the bill that was not advised before. I usually give 20% when the service is good or very good and 25% when the service is exceptional but I really felt bad paying 18% for the service we had. They would deserve no or 5-10% maximum.
Food was great. Location is outstanding. Servers were courteous and friendly but the food did take quite sometime to come out. Was Mother’s Day however and they were quite busy. Would definitely recommend and go again.
Food is good, service is great!
Soup was cold.
Everyone of our party ordered fast food. It still took 3/4 hour to get our meals. Servers were very friendly.
I booked a table of 8 for a Saturday evening at 6:30 pm with friends before the Bright Nights Train. Unfortunately it was not an enjoyable dinner. We were still eating our dinner when the servers started placing chairs on the empty tables around us, and then our server came and asked us if we wanted coffee or desert, or any other drinks as they would be closing the bill. We ordered another drink, and then completed our dinner. The servers turned up the lights very brightly, and then they started loading in the buffet from the event next door. The servers were then eating their dinner around us and we were asked to settle out bills. We had to wait outside in the rain, as our tickets for the train were not until 9:30. We got to the train at 8:45 and they were very helpful in getting us on early, as it was a cold and wet night. The Stanley is a very lovely atmosphere and so nice to have a pub style restaurant in the lovely pavillion building and close to the train. The food was really great, but the management of the staff, customer service and the lack of information on the hours of operation is very lacking.
Lights could be dimed a little as it was rather bright
Menu was adequate for a quick bit, could be more choices
The service was quite fine once we finally got some. We arrived and were passed by repeatedly by staff. Eventually we were seated where we were again left waiting so long that we were debating on leaving. The whole time this was happening it wasn't even busy. Once our waitress came over everything began to flow quite well. The sangria was good and so was the food. Neither of which took long to arrive once ordered which was surprising given our experience when we arrived. A little on three pricey side but we were there for happy hour which made it a better value. Surprised it wasn't busier for happy hour because the setting in the park is beautiful.
Charming location, nice large patio, friendly staff! I found the menu uninspiring along with the quality of food. I would return for drinks however.
A great spot to have a meal and a cool drink when visiting Stanley Park.
It seemed pretty sleepy at 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday but it was enjoyable as always.
We had a great dinner. We were seated right away and they let us stay quite a bit after closing to finish our drinks.
Great dining experience. We shared the pumpkin ravioli and pulled pork quesadillas. Absolutely delicious. The spiked lemonade slushie was perfect for a summer evening cocktail before going to the theatre. Will definitely be back again.
Good food and friendly helpful staff. Great patio location and so convenient for dinner before Theatre under the Stars, a nice evening and walk to the fireworks, or a day in Stanley Park.
Great afternoon out, awesome selection of craft beer. Worth a visit!
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The fish and chips were very tasty & large portioned. Great place to grab a bite before going to see the "Theater under the stars" close by.
Casual atmosphere and decent menu with lots of local offerings in an old mansion surrounded by spectacular Stanley Park. Service was relaxed and attentive. Great combo with TUTS on a summer eve.
Totally enjoyed our lunch. Our server looked after us well, there when we needed them. The food was plentiful and delicious. The Executive Chef visited our table and thanked us visiting the restaurant.
The new menu was good There were more items to choose from and a good variety.
The service was fabulous. We all had the fish and chips and the fish was a little tough and the cole slaw had no discernible taste.
We enjoyed a wonderful experience on August 19. We had a difficult time getting there as we were rerouted due to a cycling event and then got caught in a traffic jam due to an accident but each time we called to explain that we were going to be late we were treated with care and understanding. Our waitress was amazing! She was competent, friendly and most accommodating at all times. We all enjoyed our meals.
The only negative was the one washroom, in the building, for both men and women! Both upstairs and downstairs lineups were long!
We will be back!
Eat here when we go to Theatre Under the Stars. Always good food a d a nice variety.
Very convenient for dinner when attending Theatre under the Stars.
Our experience was disappointing which is a shame as we had a good experience last time. It is so convenient to go there for dinner before TUTS which we attend yearly. There were 7 of us and we did not feel any of us got good value for our money. Some portions were very large but did not arrive at our table nice and hot. The pumpkin ravioli was a very small portion and was not all that tasty. The lady who ordered that meal was left not only disappointed in her choice but still hungry as well. The waiter although friendly at first ignored us for most of the meal and did not ask if we wanted dessert or coffee and just assumed we were done. He brought us the bill and we then had to say we wanted dessert and coffee. He then was unable to split our bill into 7 separate bills and after 2 tries he gave up and split the bill 7 ways which was not at all fair to our driver who did not have an alcoholic drink. Sadly we all left the table feeling frustrated and disappointed. This was not our experience last summer when we all had a delicious meal and great service. A few of us felt we may have gotten better service if we had been ordering more drinks or if we had been a group of 20 somethings rather than a group of 50 somethings.
Convenient spot for pre-show dinner. Food was good but service was a bit slow and our requests were quickly forgotten!
Our experience was enjoyable. The service was excellent and food very good. The perfect experience before TUTS.
Had dinner here prior to Theatre Under the Stars show. Server was prompt and asked us if we were going to the show so that he could make sure we were out on time. Food was delicious, and being right in Stanley Park the surrounds were amazing.
We throughly enjoyed the service, food and atmosphere at the restaurant.
