    We had our Work Christmas dinner at this restaurant this evening. we arrived early enough to take advantage of some of the deals from the happy hour menu, including drinks and appetizers. Great tasting calamari and soup dumplings to start. For a main most of us had the fish and chips. Everyone was very satisfied with their meal.

    This is the third time I have eaten at State and Main. Each time I ordered the sirloin steak. The first two times it was excellent. The third time, last evening, it was terrible.....tough as shoe leather and tasteless. I ate less than a third of it. Very discouraging.

    Steak was excellent, server was good for overloaded, we waited a long time for her and for food. I hate the long tables we keep getting seated at, right by the front door and back by the kitchen. We have one person at each end, then 4 people in between and the two people at each end cannot talk to each other. Terrible

    Very nice place, busy for a Tuesday night. The food was good I really enjoyed the grilled cheese burger, totally worth it. Price is reasonable. Good place to grab a drink with a friend.

    Food was good despite them not having our reservation even after showing them the reservation on my phone with their confirmation they sent. We were then seated in the bar area with uncomfortable high chairs. The service was very good and the food was delicious despite the setbacks.

    Since my favorite waitress Jackie got promoted to bartender. I got to say Hi to her. I had the Empire steak which was cooked perfectly. The asparagus was a little over cooked. the garden salad was excellent. Olivia was an excellent server so gave her a 20% tip. I would return again.

    Celebrated a milestone birthday with my family at our local State + Main. We ordered two cocktails, an appetizer and three mains. They very generously provided a giant slice of ice cream/cheesecake/chocolate mousse cake for our dessert. It was so huge, it took 3 of us to finish it! The entrees were incredible! My steak was done perfectly as was my asparagus. Just enough of crunch. The other steak was done just as they requested and their sides of vegetables and fries were just as delicious. The Main Burger entrée was also fantastic - the poutine side could have used a bit more gravy, but I'm probably saying that because the gravy was authentic and on point, and not a salty liquid mess as some places do it. We had the shrimp appetizer and loved the crisp texture and spicy flavour. Was a great shareable portion. Service was lovely and we didn't feel rushed even though it was a busy night. Although there was an incredible selection of drinks, ours were just okay. We had two cocktails, and both were decent, but didn't wow us the way the food did. Overall, my birthday night finished off with that impeccable dessert and we felt the evening was a good value for money.

    It was not our best experience at State and Main - a bit of an off night. That said - the server and manager did everything they could to make sure we and our party had a good experience. Sometimes things don’t go right - but they did everything they could to make things right. That’s why we’ll be back again!

    The restaurant had a great ambiance and atmosphere while the service was good. The cocktails were incredible and the food was decent but not extraordinary. My friends and I had an excellent time there, however, we all felt that our dishes were slightly less exciting than we expected. The enchiladas were more soft and dip-like (served with tortillas to dip in ...) and the rigatoni pasta was lacking sauce and the mushrooms were undercooked. I would try this spot again but I would order something different next time.

    We had a lovely time at State & Main as usual. It was my sisters 75 birthday. I went earlier in the day and brought balloons, flowers to put on the table before we arrived and it was done exactly as I asked. After our delicious meal we were presented with the cake and the waitress even sang Happy Birthday as she brought it to our table. I requested a specific booth and I got exactly what I asked for. Thank you State & Main !!!! ALWAYS FUN and a pleasure to dine with great food, drink and atmosphere!

    Love this restaurant. I’ve been several times. The food is totally amazing. The presentation is always wonderful. I am not a fish person but their Pistachio Crusted Salmon and drizzled maple butter is delicious, served with asparagus(cooked to perfection) tasty mashed potatoes. It is to die for. I also had their Teryaki and Butter Chicken. Both were delicious. The noise and music from the bar is too loud but I still love the restaurant. I would recommend it to my family and friends but let them know it is not a qu’hier relaxing restaurant.

    Excellent food and service. Table layout not optimal for 6 to interact as one long side of table is open to aisle. Restaurant always busy, which is good, but too loud for normal level conversation on a busy day. Highly recommend food and restaurant if you’re not too concerned with being able to have a real conversation. Maybe better for a 2-4 person group (we were 6).

    We had the best service ever, Andrea I believe! The food was good and came out of the kitchen pretty quickly given how busy it was for a Thursday supper time. To our pleasant surprise, they had a Thursday night special with wine by the bottle at 50% off! Here are some observations: Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl was delicious, but small as a main dish; chicken enchiladas were equally delicious, but half the plate was just plain nacho chips with a very small container of pico de gallo on the side, the salmon and the fish and chips were both wonderful, restaurant layout is open resulting in it being very loud. One last thing has nothing to do with the food or service, but with the menu viewable on a mobile website. It was off-putting by pointing out elements of a dish that traditionally are included, but with this restaurant are not. For example, online, the 'i' icon next to the fish and chips said that slaw was not included, yet when the dish came it had some. We almost decided to make reservations somewhere else as a result. All in all it was a fun night with good food and great service. Worth I try.

    The reception, the food, the service were all excellent. We found the music a little too loud. If you want more seniors (like myself) to return, it would be appreciated if the music was toned down, as many of us wear hearing aids and the noise is amplified to the point where we don’t hear our partners/friends speak… Thank you,

    As a customer from the opening, I can say that overall I have been very satsfied with the overall experience at this location. The service and the quality of the food made me a repeat customer. However, during my last few visits, I have noticed smaller portions and much slower service from the kitchen. The staff remains their strongest point.

    Love the ambiance of state and main. Usually the food is 5 stars tonight 2 out of 4 dishes were wrongly cooked. A medium steak came out with no pink in it. And a chicken sandwich came out super dark brown looked burnt and was so hard & crunchy. Unfortunately, we didn’t see our server for awhile after our food came so we ate it. Service has usually been great here but tonight everyone was awkward. Hostess just stared at us when we came in. No hello. No how are you. Nothing. Our waitress was wearing a mask which is fine but couldn’t understand her and she wasn’t around very much. Had to ask for drink refills, etc. Won’t keep us from going back but hope it gets better.
