   No major complaints...service was interested but not so much as to be bothersome. No one ordered anything too exotic but all five members of our party were pleased with what they ordered. It was relaxed. We were given time to make our menu decisions. There was a pleasant pause for visiting between ordering and getting our meals, and we never felt rushed at any point in our visit. For an afternoon meal ( 1PM) I found the music a little loud. The place was not crowded, and it seemed to me the music was set for a capacity crowd of diners....

   Ate dinner with my wife here on a Saturday at 7:30. Their patio was open, but we dined indoors. With no delay, we were greeted and seated in a quiet corner. The restaurant was moderately busy, but not bustling. Our server was wonderful. Drink and food orders were correct and timely. I had the Honey Glazed Cajun Chicken, while my wife enjoyed their Baja Fish Tacos. The chicken was tender and the Ffsh tacos were flavourful and not overly greasy. We have nothing disappointing to say about our experience at State & Main Kitchen + Bar - Gloucester.

    Fine, but kind of a standard big-box restaurant. Website made it look more interesting than it is. Nothing to write home about. Decently presented food, Reasonable quality and portions, and service was ok. Fun cocktails were the best part. No decor to speak of unless you count huge TVs throughout (fine if you're looking for a sports bar, but doesn't do much to create ambiance for a dining experience). Patio is basic, and looks onto parking lot. Hostess was not particularly friendly. Reservation had offered option to specify special occasion (it was a birthday dinner outing) but staff didn't ask about it or do anything. All in all, underwhelming, and while it was not 'bad' we just wouldn't choose it again.

    Disappointing the manager would not take our Open Table cheque. She claims this location is a corporate store and they won’t accept Open Table cheques. What’s the point in participating in this program if you can’t redeem benefits?

    1st time at State & Main Gloucester Location - and we really enjoyed it! The food was amazing, the old-fashioned delicious and the ambiance was nice too. Our server - unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she was great! Checked in when needed, but left us alone to have some good discussions too. Will be back!

    Four of us were here for a business luncheon. The food was great, and the service was prompt and professional. A special note for those that enjoy seafood...the pistachio-encrusted salmon is excellent, and will not disapoint.

    It was very, very loud. We waited 15 minutes before being asked if we wanted drinks. After being served our meal we never saw the waitress again until she came to clear the dishes - she never checked to make sure everything was alright or if we wanted more drinks, etc.

    Had family visiting from out of town, so of course we wanted to be able to talk to each other over dinner. The music was way, way too loud so we asked for it to be turned down a bit. That never happened, so it was hard to talk & hear each other. It was unpleasant and unnecessary. On a positive note - the food was great.

    It is a version of a sports bar with music blaring constantly. Very hard to have a conversation across the table. The food is pretty good but there is not one healthy choice on the whole menu. Even the salads are loaded with extras that ramp up the fat and calories.
