PLEASE NOTE: Beginning August 20th we will require proof of full vaccination status for ALL guests dining inside. A 'standard table' is indoor dining, if outdoor is unavailable we are fully booked outdoors.

In lieu of our traditional dim sum service we are currently offering an à la carte experience. If you are interested in booking for 6 to 8 guests, please visit our website.

Due to limited space and for the safety of all, we ask our guests to dine within the following time frames:
1-3 guests - up to 1 hour and 45 minutes
4-5 guests - up to 2 hours

Tables will be held for 15 minutes after the reservation time, at which point we will make the table available to our waitlist. Outdoor dining is subject to San Francisco weather changes, so please dress accordingly.

If you are feeling less than your best we do ask that you reach out about your reservation, we will gladly find a time to reschedule!

First time back at SBP since the beginning of the pandemic and I think the bloom is off the rose. Or maybe it’s me. I thought the dishes tried hard to be creative but came up short : the red trout starter was too salty and was cheapened by the accompaniment of commercial potato chips; the persimmons were in an odd tasting sauce; the sourdough pancake was pedestrian; the wagu toast was served on a huge piece of “Texas” toast and was smothered in greens that obscured the appreciation of the appearance and flavor of the wagu; but fortunately the quail was quite good.

Misc: The noise level was intolerable - required shouting to be heard. The poor waiter could not be heard through his mask and struggled to hear our order, which was initially botched. Why not remove the ceramic art on the wall and replace w something that doesn’t reflect noise? The restrooms are quite nice and were also a temporary haven from the noise of the dining room. 5 Bauer Bombs.

What hasn’t changed: still the most expensive meal on Fillmore. Save your dough and go to the Anchovy Bar if you can get a table after the NYT article.

The restaurant is so phenomenal. There’s nothing about it I didn’t love. From the staff to the ambulance to the food to every single thing about the place. You can’t get there fast enough.

Overall, Service was great. Ordered 6 dishes plus dessert. My friend had the quail which she enjoyed and the desert was flavorful. However underwhelmed by most of the food which was lacking in salt and other accents to make this a great culinary experience.

Lived up to the expectations! The unique combination of flavors in the sharing dishes were an explosion of flavors. There’s clearly technique with every item, but there’s also the passion, felt with each bite. Service was excellent. Highly recommend it.

I’ve loved SBP the last time I’ve been there - both the dimsum style of service that allows us to sample many things, and the food itself. We were a bit underwhelmed last night - 2 dishes were over-seasoned (high on salt) : the day’s special cod collar and tail, and the pork belly salad. And all 4 of us eating agreed on that. The chocolate dessert was disappointing - I don’t remember tasting any candied meyer lemon, and there was too little pear to elevate a mediocre chocolate sponge to anything remarkable. The duck confit dumplings were the best thing in the meal. I expected better from SBP overall.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at State Bird Provisions. The state bird (fried quail) was absolutely delicious and worth the evening; my other dishes were more variable. The duck confit dumplings were a bit tough on the outside and bland; the sourdough pancakes were better, but not remarkable. The restaurant is loud and energetic, and I suspect that when the dim sum carts are running, the atmosphere is festive.

Even though the carts are not rolling at the moment, the food is still great. We miss a couple of dishes not on the menu, like the ribs but overall still a great meal. We love the parklet which means we can bring our small dog and the service is still top notch.

Great experience, also very pricey. I thought the food was good - you can tell it they use high quality ingredients and everything was very creative. Definitely tried a lot of foods I’ve never had before, though some of them were better than others. The portions are very small so we had to order multiple to feed our table of 4. I would go back for a special occasion for the experience and the ambiance but it was definitely very expensive.

Amazing food and great service! We went for an anniversary dinner and got a sweet stamped menu. A small touch that we loved. The food was great, our server took the time to answer our questions and make sure we were warm enough. 10/10!

With a group of four we were able to try quite a large number of menu options. Though diverse, each was beautifully presented with complex flavor/texture profile and DELICIOUS!
It is no wonder that Gaby Madea, chef de cuisine, was one of Food and Wine’s “Best New Chefs” of 2021.
We would love to return to State Bird Provisions!

Great food all around. We ordered 13 dishes and all were outstanding. The combination of flavors on each dish were very unique and not necessarily typical, but they always worked together. Highly recommended and great value for a Michelin starred restaurant.

Worth all the hype, though I came with my 87 year old Dad and the acoustics of the restaurant plus the loud music at 5pm made it impossible for him to hear me even next to me. I will try to eat outside next time to hear better/

For the reputation of the restaurant I was disappointed in the service we received from our waiter--despite warning him that we were going to have lots of questions and that mom is sort of a picky eater. The food was great and they have done an excellent job with their outdoor patio where we sat. However, we weren't given set ups to start with so ended up receiving our first round of food without any utensils or napkins. Our server told us we needed to order all of our dishes at once but when I asked if they would be spaced out instead of brought all at once and he said yes. Well that was not the case. All of the starters and first courses dishes that we ordered came out one on top of another. I finally had to say something to the food runner after the last starter was brought so our entrees wouldn't be brought out too soon. Our waiter clearly seem uninterested in us after our order was placed but fortunately the rest of the staff was a little more on top of it. The starter dishes being brought out too quickly was really a frustrating part of our experience considering I had specifically asked about that once he made us order our dishes all at once
