About STK – Chicago
STK artfully blends two concepts into one—the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge. A large central lounge area is furnished with creamy leather banquettes and textured crocodile tiles, and is surrounded by an elevated dining room for more formal dining. Theatrical lights illuminate each table, while a DJ creates an energetic vibe throughout the entire space. STK Chicago is located in the heart of River North and, as anticipated, steak is the main attraction. STK offers small, medium and large cuts of meat, as well as naturally raised options, and even wagyu and Kobe for the decadent dinners. Aside from steak, signature items include Parmesan Truffle Fries; Lil’ BRGs; Sweet Corn Pudding; and Jumbo Lump Crab Salad.

STK – Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Our steak and seafood were prepared to perfection. Rave reviews for the quality of the food and we would return for that reason alone. Service was attentive. A complaint was that we were pretty much rubbing elbows with the tables next to us, with neighbors conversations bleeding into ours and visa versa. They do this loud routine with sparklers and songs for guests celebrating a birthday, which is something you'd expect at TGI Fridays and not an upscale steakhouse. Our dinner table was wobbly and cheap and needed a napkin underneath to steady it. One would hope for a better experience when spending over $300 in dinner/wine for 2.
Besides the little issue with finding valet, this is probably one of my favorite new restaurants to go to. We got one of the best tables, which I think makes a huge difference. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside as I love a black and white theme complete with flowers!
We waited for our table by first grabbing drinks at the bar. Chris was great and very friendly, one of the few who surprised me when I requested that they make me a drink of their choice - something not strong. It's rare that I actually like something a bartender makes upon that type of request.
At our table we were seating in the center right behind of the GORGEOUS flowers and bar!
Our server was Elizabeth who was absolutely amazing! Great conversationalist, and very informative and descriptive. As someone who is a picky eater she was definitely helpful in me making my selection! I love that they also have options that aren't on the menu, so definitely ask if they don't mention it.
My boyfriend thought his steak was delicious, perfectly cooked, and very fulfilling. My shrimp was amazing and the creamy spinach side was absolute perfection.
Can't wait to go back!
We had an amazing server Hannah, it was our first time. Her service and recommendations were on point, the dry aged porterhouse was the best steak I have ever had and we loved the array of sauces. Will be dining here in the future!
Very good food! Steak is delishes and if you like grits, the cheddar jalapeno grits are the best
Awesome experience! Music, food, vibe everything was great.
Absolutely LOVED it! My waitress was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was incredibly flavorful. Tried a few new items that were beautifully prepared and tasted great. My new favorite place!! Wonderful anniversary location!
Been here several times before, so I was surprised at the service, or lack thereof.
I ordered a drink at the bar that was placed in a glass that was unclean and sticky. When I was seated, I asked the waitress for another drink in a clean glass and then I had to remind her, five minutes later. She came back with a drink in a clean glass, but it was obvious it was the same drink (because it was watery). When I asked for a new drink, she returned to tell me they were out of the rum I requested. So I asked for a glass of wine that I had to remind her about, 10 minutes later. My wife asked for a clean knife and, after five minutes of waiting, had to ask a manager for a knife. Food was great. The service sucked and the DJ must have adult ADHD because he basically played the first 30 second of each song before moving on the the next one. Given the fact that average age of the clientele was about 35-40, I have no idea who he thought he was impressing.
Overall good restaurant :
+ Steaks are very good and we seasoned.
+ Sides are just as good.
+Drinks are good and creative.
+ Great lively ambiance for those that do not mind the 'lounge' feel
- Appetizers are hit or miss , and can range on the average side of things.
- Our server this time around was friendly and good, but needed a tad bit more attentiveness.. but not a complaint
From the moment we walked in, until the time we left, service was outstanding. Danius was very accommodating and Joanna our server was amazing. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered great recommendations. My friend had the Lobster Rockefeller, and I ordered a 10oz fillet with sides. Everything was cooked to perfection!! The ambiance was great and our time was very enjoyable and so much fun! The energy was amazing and everyone was so friendly! We will be back!
Disappointed getting the “open table” table close to the door at a high top table when making reservations so far in advance for Valentine’s Day.
Phenomenal food and our waiter Matt was stellar!
Josh was very helpful as well :-) will definitely come back
Pricing was unclear on the specials...but the food was exceptional! We had waygu beef AKA "the most expensive beef in the world" WOW!! Amazing!
My night at STK started out wonderfully. My boyfriend and I went for Valentine’s Day and we loved the ambiance. We ordered the lamb chops, 10oz filet, Mac and cheese, and asparagus. Everything was good, but I thought it was a tad overpriced.
We left, and my nightmare with STK began. I left my purse inside, and when I went to retrieve it the purse was gone. Now, I fully take responsibility for this, but my whole life was in there. My boyfriend and I called STK over the course of the next morning to see if anyone turned my purse in and every time we called, we got different answers on when the managers would be in(2,3,3:30,4). I waited and finally received a call stating they didn’t have my purse. I was obviously upset, and I asked if they could please check again- I told them I know I left it there. Finally, I left work and drove downtown to ask them face to face. The manager came out and told me he personally searched everywhere, and there was no possible way it was at the restaurant. I asked about security cameras and the manager told me, “even if we see who took it- will that really solve the problem? Plus it will take me around three or four days.” I left, and left my information on the slight chance he was telling the truth. Fast forward to the next day, I get a call stating they had my purse and it was hidden in the coat check under a coat. I was ecstatic, but I asked who had it since the manager assured me there was no way it was in STK, he said he didn’t know. I went into get the purse and it was basically thrown at me by the hostess.
Due to this experience, I will never go back. STK you really need to work on customer service.
There was nothing really bad about the experience. It was just too mediocre for a Chicago high end steakhouse.
I found my new spot...and the best drink... Eden's Kiss was great...the bartender Johnny was amazing... definitely a great bartender..he makes you feel very welcomed. Recommend for sure.
The food and ambiance were fantastic. My filet mignon was tender and juicy, which is impressive since I order Well Done. The jalapeño cheddar grits and brussel sprouts were amazing. Our service at the bar and at our table was attentive and friendly. Loved the entire experience!
Every time I asked the server for a recommendation she suggested the most expensive option on the menu. For example, I asked for a suggestion on the sauce I should get for my filet and she suggested the lobster and shrimp toppings, which were half the price of the filet, and also that's not a sauce. The same thing happened for a bottle of wine. I understand the need to upsell, but it got old after the second incident. The sides were VERY mediocre--they were the most disappointing part of the meal. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant ones from the box, nothing inspiring about them at all. We went there to celebrate a birthday, and I made sure to specify that in the reservation and every table around us got a birthday treat except us, not sure what that was about. There's many amazing steakhouses in Chicago where you can spend $300 for two people and get significantly better service/food. I highly suggest avoiding STK.
My husband and myself really enjoyed our time dining with our friends!!! Everything was great :)
Food was tasty, good ambiance, fun music a bit loud and tough for conversation. Pricey $$$$.
Underwhelming considering the breadth of great steakhouse options in Chicago.
I was really excited to check out STK as i had an amazing experience at the one in Vegas. I went on a double date here for Restaurant Week. The menu sounded really great, but the actual food was less than great. For the price, it definitely was not worth it. There are plenty of other places around the city that have better quality food for the same higher price tag.
Food was great, our waitress Trinity was fabulous. Very pricey and a little dated but, overall it was good.
Wonderful experience. Only issue was the glass in which they brought my beer was a bit dirty on the outside with small food residue and scum. Other than that it was wonderful
Nice setting and great food. DJ makes for a unique dining experience.
Went for restaurant week, the food was wonderful and our server was great. We ordered a drink she was unfamiliar with, but she made it happen!
Booked a last minute reservation for friends birthday on a Saturday and had an amazing night. We were seated in less than 5 minutes, the food, service and ambiance were beyond exceptional. Overall GREAT night.
Restaurant great valet terrible waited 25 min to get my car
Dirty restrooms noisy place cheap decoration , but good slightly pricey food
Food was ok. The Orlando location was great, so we tried Chicago. Steak was over cooked. Our waiter was SUPER slow. We were there almost 3 hours and most of the time was spent waiting for him to return. I don’t think I’d go back to this location.
I went to STK to celebrate my birthday with friends and family. Great food and great service! I will be back.
We had a great time! I would definitely come back. Cucumber martini was amazing!
Date night with my husband. Our first visit. Took advantage of restaurant week. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar before being seated.. The space is beautiful and food was delicious. We loved the DJ and our waiter Vlad B was wonderful! We’ll be back for sure.
The food was great, especially the Mac and Cheese! Our server Dara was amazing!
Great hospitality, unfortunately I do not remember our servers name but she made my experience 100. The customer service I received is the type of customer service that boost clientele and returning customers. Thank you very much for the experience I will be looking forward to returning.
Interior decor was striking...especially the wave ceiling in the upper level dining area where we were seated. But I thought the food was just ok for a higher-end restaurant. There was nothing that we had that stood out as exceptional...especially for the price category.
Came with a friend for Restaurant Week. Our drinks, recommended by the server (I can’t remember her name), were delicious and the food was great! Our server was very personable and attentive given it was a busy Fri night. Great ambiance and they DJ was playing a good selection of old and new music. The only slight miss was that we had to ask for the Restaurant Week menu when typically restaurants immediately give it to you. Overall excellent experience and I would definitely go back!
Appetizers and steaks were really good. Desserts just ok. Went to celebrate 18th Birthday for my daughter with family and friends. She really was looking forward to the mini ice cream cone sampler. First waiter came back and said they only had vanilla and strawberry so which one did she want two of. Then it just came out as 3 scoops of ice cream with a candle on it. Not too exciting for an 18th birthday. When we asked about the cones the waiter said that they no longer carry cones and argued that they had not for a year and it was not on menu. However, the menu online (and in restaurant) says mini ice cream cone sampler. Waiter did take the charge off and we ordered another dessert but as I previously said the desserts were a let down.
Overall just great experience
Ambience and food was amazing. Service lacked and should have been better.
Food was not great. Got the tomahawk ribeye, it was cooked well but the flavor wasn’t great. Service was mediocre, took to long to get drinks, had to ask multiple times for bread, and 3 groups got seated ahead of us even though we had a reservation.
