Storms On The River
Besides being a certified oceanwise restaurant you can also count on us for a wide selection of meats and other made-from-scratch dishes.
Our menus are seasonally inspired but be sure to check us out for our weekly feature specials as well. All this goes hand in hand with what our bar and lounge has to offer: From local brews over an extensive wine list to the perfectly crafted cocktail your cravings will not be left unsatisfied. Come by and enjoy a meal with family & friends overlooking the South Thompson River or dock your boat at Kamloops’ only boat access restaurant after a day on the water.
As much as I like to support local industry, the lack of reasonably priced local or foreign wines does detract from the eating experience. Other than the house red, everything seemed priced to keep everyone sober, not just our designated driver.
Great dinner; great view
Food choices on the menu was very limited and expensive for what you get. The wine list was extremely expensive for a 9oz glass of red 🍷 $22. Far to much !! Had my grandsons there for dinner and one ordered a pop which wasn’t included in the child’s menu. The service was very good. It was my daughters birthday and she didn’t receive a dessert. When I made the reservation I included that we were celebrating a birthday.
We had a lovely evening, the service was excellent the food was delicious and the setting perfect!
the food at storms rocked! service ruled and the server knew what he was talking about. will definitely be back
We have been to Storms quite a few times now and are always impressed with the quality of the food and drinks as well as the service. They really take pride in what they do and it shows!
We spent there a very nice and relaxing evening.Service was very friendly, especially the starters execellent. The atmosphere was very nice, not like in a fast food restaurant ,with descret music. We felt a little bit like at home...
Thank you so much!
Great find. Wonderful food. Nice view of the river.
The meal was excellant. I had the duck and was cooked to my order (medium rare). However, I wanted to buy a bottle of wine to go with it. Prices were absolutely prohibitive . A bottle of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc was $60. Local liquor store they sell for $17.99 + tax. Harper Trails Pinot Gris was $44. At Harper Trails the cost is $16.99 and they probably buy in bulk at a lower cost. I had to settle for a beer just out of principle and that was expensive at $9.75. It's too bad because the food was good, but I won't recommend it due to their liquor pricing.
We had eaten here several times over the years, but this was the best yet.
Scallops were to die for!.. service was lively and knowledgeable, and we finally a smoke-free view of the river from the outside patio.
Reservations appear to be necessary... and 'OpenTable' worked perfectly.
Excellent food! Original menu , very fine dining. Patio is beautiful.
Everything from appetizers to entrees to the service was exceeded from expectations. I definite gem of the Okanagan, do not pass this place up... this is a fine dining restaurant, not your quick bite kind of place. You’re here for a long time and good time.
EXTREMELY dated building, poor upkeep, horrendous service (had to go and get the server in the back room after 35+ minutes without plates cleared), drinks were unbelievably expensive (many average glasses of wine approaching $20), food was ok but risotto was very overcooked and oily. If you like Brownstone and have thought about trying Storms, just go back to Brownstone...
Well prepared, fresh and flavourful food. Interesting menu, including some creative options. Fantastic service; staff attentive at all times and trying to please. The patio is very nice and cozy, with a great view, which pictures on the website don’t do justice. The only drawbacks were that 2 of 7 items on the menu were not available by 7:30 pm, hence limiting our choices, and food took over an hour to arrive, which is too long to wait in our opinion.
The food was good but our service was quite spotty and slow.
Delicious meal, close proximity to our hotel and great open air dining on the river. So good we went both nights of our stay in Kamloops. Tho on the second night we ordered appetizers rather than mains as the portions were perfect and not as big as the mains.
We had the the seafood and it was cooked to perfection! I find most places tend to over cook seafood. I had actually given up on King Crab legs until I tried them at Storms. Perfection!
There were actually 6 of us and the staff was super accommodating. Everyone was blown away by the quality of the food. Outstanding!
Beautiful patio, fantastic food. We had the asparagus salad and the ravioli and it was amazing, as was the presentation. Highly recommend!
Slooooooooow service and mediocre food, at best. We have been here before, but this will be our last visit. The “fresh” oysters did not taste that way, and the risotto was more like lukewarm sludge.
Nice river view with your meal.
On a nice day plenty of outside space.
Food & service are excellent.
Well worth a visit
Fantastic food and great service! What more could you ask for?
A little expensive, needs some updating, but good food and very friendly and helpful staff, great desert as well.
This is an amazingly quiet, comfortable and friendly restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a lounge. Menu is varied, with Gluten Free items, and compares to any 4-star restaurant in Kamloops. Prices are reasonable. Situated by the south edge of the South Thompson River, in the city, boaters too can dine here as securing their pleasure craft is easy at the testaurant’s wharf. One of our favourite hideaways!!
Great ambience on the patio, food fantastic, kitchen delays disappointing.
Service was very good. Food has improved immensely. Very much enjoyed the menu.
The facility needs TLC. Seems very dated and tired inside restaurant.
The patio is nice but also needs cleaning and paint as well as the outside of building.
I'll return as long as I'm sitting outside on a nice day.
Lovely view but cold! Asked to have the heaters turned on. Was told not until dark! Asked for blankets....only had 4.
Was really too cold to enjoy so finally convinced them to turn on heaters.....no improvement! They said it took time!
The meals were nice.....schnitzel and burgers! However the risotto was less than pleasant. We had two orders and they did not eat the meal. I mentioned to the waitress that the meal was disappointing for this special event and she apologized but never offered them something else! Disappointed!
Wonderful food! Great atmosphere. One of my favourite places in town.
The food was really good. The service was excellent. It was a bit noisy but not unbearable. The menu is not extensive I might like to see a feature in addition to the menu. We have eaten there twice and will go back.
The staff was so friendly, accommodating and efficient. The food was delicious and fit our special dietary needs. The setting was beautiful.
We will be back!
Poor menu choices and not worth the money. Couldn’t even get a green or Caesar salad. No vegetarian entrees.
As always, great dining experience. Everything on their menu is fantastic.
I had the cioppino, their night special, it was ok, but not great.
Likely this restaurant is a good place in the summer to eat outside on their patio area, maybe try a burger?
We come to Kamloops a few times a year starting in the Spring. This restaurant has never been consistent. Sunday April 21st 2019 was the last straw. Bread basket arrived and we were given four thinly sliced small pieces of cold focaccia bread along with a few hush puppies. The food arrived and mine was served on a spread out glob of cold sweat potato puree. My husband requested no puree. It really looked disgusting I ate it anyways . The roasted potatoes tasted like they had been in the microwave then reheated they were all shriveled up like when you walk out of a swimming pool after being in too long. The steak was pre sliced and we assumed it was to make it look like you got lots on your plate. It was again also cold. My husband ordered the cheesecake it was as hard as a rock couldn't even cut with a knife and only had a spoon. The waiter never came over to check on us or ask how we were once the food arrived we were ignored. Never even offered more bread. We were upset and told the waiter the food was cold and mentioned the dessert her just blew us off. It was our anniversary the waiter knew that. It was one of the worse meals ever and will not give them a second chance. My husband spent our anniversary night in the washroom.
Such a lovely family dinner! Thank you for a lovely Easter Sunday!
The service was very welcoming and friendly,
We were never left waiting for the waitress to come by and always had what we needed.
The seating was comfortable with a unique outdoor view, we were brought blankets in case it got cold.
The food came quickly and timed perfectly between our drinks, starters and dinner.
Everything tasted incredible, we could tell every ingredient was organic and locally sourced. The presentation of the food was beautiful, placed well on the plate with lots of colours.
Overall an incredible experience, we only wish we had room for dessert!
Absolutely amazing food! They went above and beyond for us and made it an unforgettable evening for my wife’s birthday.
The foood was excellent. Both portable interact machines were not working which caused some chaos for us. The wine is way overpriced compared to other local restaurants. You can’t beat the food or view though.
Its a nice place to go for a celebration the host was nice the food was okay apps delicious main just regular view is awesome price of the experience pricy! As i said it is a nice getaway but well only go back to celebrate special days. Would recommend definitely
We hadn't been to Storm's in quite awhile and were very impressed with our romantic evening. The new young owners are making a diligent effort to offer a more intimate, quality experience. High priority is placed on using fresh ingredients purchased from local and regional suppliers. Even the seafood is purchased and shipped fresh. We had raw oysters in the half shell, a lovely charcuterie and cheese board (you gotta try the chicken pate), calamari that was only lightly battered and not greasy in the least, mussels in a creamy white wine sauce and a seafood risotto. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Kudos to Chef Heather. There is a good selection of wine and beer from local providers. If you're looking for an enjoyable farm to table experience with a beautiful view, check out Storms on the River.
