This was our second visit to this location. It’s a very busy restaurant because the food is delicious. The service was a wee bit slow but that’s to be expected. Noise level is higher than Main Street location. All I all a very nice experience.

Poor ventilation. The restaurant felt really hot. When we let the service staff know, they said the air con was on, but the place wouldn’t stay cold because of people coming in and out of the restaurant, which was not the case. The place was busy but the front door was closed at all times. No windows either. It was like being in an oven.

Great venue fo enjoy a meal with small or larger groups in a comfortable setting. It took a while to get our order taken as well as for the food to come out of the kitchen. However, the food did look good when it arrived and and tasted flavourful.

Our first time at this location on Commercial Drive. We were there for Happy Hour. We've dined at the Main Street location a few times before. Our reservation was for 4:15pm on a Sunday, but the door was shut until 4:35pm due to a plumbing issue. I would have appreciated it if they called in advance to inform me about a delay. In any case they agreed to extend the Happy Hour menu deadline for us. We only ordered off of the Happy Hour menu. The food, especially the railway vada pav was excellent. Only one item, the tandoori wings, was a bit over spiced. The drinks were great, and they obliged in reducing the sweetness of the cocktails we ordered. Overall, it was a good dining experience. The staff were pleasant and the service was good.

We tried Sula on a tourist visit to Vancouver BC based on a foodie friend’s recommendation. We walked about an hour from L’Hermitage to get there. It was a level/easy stroll through interesting neighborhoods — a delight on a beautiful Spring early evening. (Fortunately someone warned us against coming near Hastings Street and sadly we saw why on our bus ride back downtown following dinner.) We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked into Sula and immediately seated in a great location next to the front window. I love the dark decor that feels authentic and also contemporary. The Sula Chaat Platter is a generous sampling of appetizers served with one spicy and one sweet dipping sauce. Each platter selection tastes unique, fresh, and flavorful. For a main entrée selection, we could actually taste the fresh coconut In the Chicken Coconut Curry — the best presentation of this dish I’ve ever had. Plenty of bar/drink options; the French sauvignon blanc paired perfectly with the meal. We only had 3 precious dinner opportunities in Vancouver. Sula earned its rightful place as a worthy destination.

Yummy food, excellent service. Good value. My new go to place for authentic Indian food. We sat under the speakers and asked the music to be turned down which the staff did. Thank you. Really appreciate lowering the volume so we can talk and be heard.

Excellent professional and friendly Service. Food is very well presented on impressive tableware. The ambience is too cluttered and dusty. Not impressed with the food at all and will not recommend it to anyone looking for truly, traditional, exotic Indian food.

The restaurant was about 20 minutes lates with our reservation. We didn’t mind as they had us sit by the bar to wait and gave us complimentary drinks while we waited. The restaurant is stunning. We were impressed with that. We had the dine-out menu. The chicken lollipops and momos had tasty sauce but the chicken/momos themselves were flavourless. For the mains we had the lamb ,paneer tikka masala and the Mushroom curry. The mushroom was the best although we’ve had better. The other 2 curries were okay flavour wise. The paneer tikka masala vegetables were cut really long and thin so they kept falling onto our faces when we were eating. Not a big deal just something that was messier. For dessert we had the mango rasmalai, mango coconut puddings and the chai tiramisu. They were okay. We expected more for a place with such high reviews but then again we eat A LOT of Indian food and majority of our table hails from India so high standards for flavour. The service was good at first but when we sat down the server seemed impatient. 1. We asked about how long it would be to get the appies ( not in a rushed way we were just curious) and the server replied “ you just got here!” 2. We weren’t told the spice levels were on the milder side for an Indian restaurant. That’s fine. My friend asked for green chiles on the side to add more heat to his food. The server said they are out of green chiles ( impossible for an indian restaurant) so he brought some siracha :s. Not a hot sauce that goes with indian curry So it was not worth the price. We would not return.

Worst experience ever! Made the reservation on OpenTable app but when we got there, the restaurant was about to close. They said they can’t do anything and the way they talked was not appropriate or professional. The day was for sure ruined! Anyway went back another day, and guess what it was the worst Indian food I’ve had. Waste of time tbh!

Second time to this restaurant. Ambience is lovely with a small waterfall,Indian decor and music. Given what I consider the best table in the place….a table for two on a platform in front of the windows. Service was excellent. The food was good but thought it a little pricey for the amount of chicken in the sauce.

We were pleasantly surprised as we walked into the commercial location of Sula - definitely a gem hiding behind a regular looking building. The atmosphere and decor were so unique and fun, service was almost perfect - they knew exactly what we needed when we needed it and the food was phenomenal. Definitely recommend Sula!!!
