   We have been here several times before it’s actually a favorite in our house however the service and food quality yesterday was HORRIBLE we waiting for 15mins before a server came to our table to greet us and to take our drink order. We waited for food for 1hour 10mins as we watched everyone around us who was seated after us get there food. When the food finally came out it was cold and our order was WRONG. The bad part was several other people had complained as well. Not sure if it was just an off day for them or what!

   In search of some good soup dumplings and Szechuan beef, I thought Sum Dang Good Chinese would be the perfect way to satisfy those cravings and showcase the hip ambiance of Bishop Arts and Trinity Groves to my visiting friends. Our party of 3 arrived on a Wednesday evening and approached the host who didn't verify our reservation but sat us promptly on the outside patio. Our server Alicia kindly recommended some of her favorite drinks and dishes, informed us about the option to upcharge for top-shelf booze, and warned us that the frozen drinks were unavailable. After that, things went downhill fast. When she came back to take our order, we requested 2 cocktails and one juice beverage; the cocktails were very syrupy and barely tasted of alcohol. We then ordered a few appetizers including the scallion pancake (which was so over-fried and solidified that it was almost difficult to eat), the edamame (meh), the soup dumplings (pretty good), pork bao (good). For entrees, we ordered Szechuan beef and were warned they may be out of beef (how can you be out of beef?!), so we asked for pork instead; we were brought Mushu Pork, which we declined to eat after multiple times having the wrong order brought out and the confused wait staff claiming there was an issue with the kitchen. We ordered Pineapple Pork Fried Rice, of which every bite was mushy and tasted like greasy bacon. We also ordered the Ma-pu Tofu, which was not bad but not great either. Multiple other tables around us left due to not being served or waiting forever for their food. We wanted to love this place and the staff seemed nice enough, but it was a disappointing experience and we will not be back again.

    Food was delicious. We got their famous dumplings and they were very good. We also got orange chicken, fried rice and the combo dumplings. Everything was hot and fresh. Service was excellent. We will be back soon.

    Terrible service. Had a reservation , we were seated after 20 mins of standing in line at the hostess stand. Nobody came to us for water / drinks for next 20 mins. We had to call the manager who then took our order . We asked for Sauvignon blank and he got us 2 glasses of Pinot noir. No tableware , plates . Our server didn’t check on us at all . It was just chaos . The food was ok. Not returning .

    Terrible service! Walked in-told them that we had a reservation- host never checked- she just sat us at a table. We sat for 30 min and no one came to our table. Finally another customer said we’d have to “flag down” a waiter to get service. Well, we did that…the server said “well this is not my table and I’m not sure whose it is, but I’ll take your order”. She took the order—but the food never came. We had to go find a manager-who apologized and brought our food out. Well later that night, we were both sick on the toilet from the food.

    Gave this place a try again and once again service failed. Everything was slow. The manager was occupied with his friends table giving them good service but not noticing we needed refills and we had finished our food. Our server got drink orders for table next to us and darted past us without checking on us as we needed the check and to go containers. We yelled and got her attention before she ran off. The food is just ok not great so won’t be visiting again.

    Very noisy! It’s hard to hear everyone at the table. Probably will not go back for this reason. The food is ok. My dumplings were dry. My husband said the wonton soup was really good. Our server was really nice.

    The food was good and it was a nice atmosphere to enjoy a dinner at! It took us almost 45 minutes to get our food after ordering but we were not in a rush. We did watch two tables get their food before we did that had sat after us. the waitress did a good job and our cups were never empty and table was kept cleaned! Overall good time, good food, and will visit again!

    I went here with friends on a Monday night. We chose to sit outside since the weather was nice. But after we were seated, we were completely ignored. After about 20 minutes, I walked into the restaurant and informed them that we hadn’t even been given water. Our server came out with water glasses and was very apologetic. She was friendly and attentive. But that was not enough to save the evening. The kitchen didn’t prepare 2 of the 10 or so items we ordered. They ended up bringing one of them, which was wrong and sent back. And the other didn’t come out at all. They ended up comping out our appetizers, and our server really did do her best under the circumstances. But it was far from a great experience.

    Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Music was very loud. Service was fair at best. Our server was either inexperienced or overworked. Part of our order was wrong.The food was delivered to our table in a very disorganized fashion. And on and on. I wish I could be more positive, but nothing about the experience was.

    Lost its fun. Food was nowhere near as flavorful as it used to be. Just had that Romano chain takeover kind of feeling to it this time which is sad because I have always loved it before! Julian Beto needs to take this and Holy Crust on and re-flavorize them. His creativity and passion for the business could make these two great! Both fun concepts but slowly dying. BTW…while we were there, Holy Crust never even had one single diner!

    Some dishes were excellent, some were extremely different than expected, based on having them many times at other restaurants.. not all was following a traditional cuisine but most were good. Restaurant is fun but loud and kinda bright. Fun mural on one wall

    The poor quality of the food was only surpassed by the lousy service. The waiter brought me the wrong dish so many times I finally stopped trying to correct him and just didn't eat it. Wouldn't go there again on a dare.

    We came for my husband bday and it was def not a good experience. Food was okay but service was bad and drinks even worse. I felt bad for suggesting this place to celebrate his bday. Hope they get better.

    Very fun place. Service was excellent. The dumpling variety appetizer was good. The egg drop soup was very salty. The orange chicken was very good. The walnut prawns was sent back---it was like jello and unappetizing.

    Took 35 minutes to bring the food. Totally forgot the appetizers. Dan Dan noodles was not pan tossed but a cold salad with a tablespoon of sauce. They shut-off even the kitchen lights 30 minutes before closing making the nearby dining area almost dark.
