Summit Restaurant at Villa Eyrie Resort
We had reviewed the lunch menu on the Villa Eyrie web site over the weekend and made a lunch reservation for 11:30 AM. Naturally we had some expectations about the food choices we would have. However, we were told on arrival that only the brunch menu was available this day.
We made due, but some in our party were disappointed. I understand that the Family Day holiday may have been the reason, but neither your web site nor your e-mail indicated the change of menus.
Service was excellent, the food could have been a little better.....maybe adding a vegetable to the entree would be nice.....the scallops were great though.
Wait times were on the normal to high side. Food was good. View spectacular. Loved the space. I absolutely
Great view, fabulous service and good food make for a pretty spectacular place to have brunch.
Very Enjoyable looking forward to the next time
The view is worth the visit alone. Would be interested to see what the brunch menu offers. Excellent service.
Okay food: by no means bad, but pretty vanilla compared to how many amazing brunch spots there are in Victoria
Horrible service: We might as well have been invisible to our servers, and the restaurant couldn’t have been more than 25-30% full.
The food and service were over the top we never waited for a course everything was timed perfect by the staff
Second time at the resort and they impressed me everytime, I cant wait to be back again! really really really good food and great service!
Exceptional service, very friendly and personable staff, amazing locale
What an amazing night with dinner for 8 at the Villa Eyrie Resort. Our host, Wayne, suggested we could select from the menu or have the kitchen prepare a 'Family Style' dinner with rack of lamb and other items in what was a 5 course meal. We opted for this, and it was terrific. Wayne also made the evening special with his high level of attention to our group. Many thanks, Wayne. Everyone in our group is still talking about this meal and evening and it is now two days later. We made sure to arrive before dusk so that we could see the views from this incredible property and Wayne gave us a short tour in order to point out the different areas that we could see from the top of where this villa sits. We will be back.
We had a so-so experience on Dec 25. We were there in the mid-afternoon before dinner hours, so I guess this might not be representative of the average experience. We really enjoyed the organic chicken, but the side orders had been sitting in the fridge too long. Service was very friendly but slow. The view is absolutely amazing - overlooking the Saanich Inlet, and we had a perfect table for it.
My family loves Summit Restaurant. It is a special spot with fantastic views from anywhere in the restaurant. The food has only improved since we first started going to Villa Eyrie. It is a great spot to take visitors to.
My wife and I came for a lovey dinner received superb service from the team. Thank you for accommodating us! We look forward to returning soon!
The most gorgeous view for miles around - so beautiful and outstanding service!!!
Amazing views for a birthday brunch. Everything we sampled from the buffet was very good. Quiet environment, perfect for a romantic date
Went for lunch on a Monday...a very quiet time. Service was excellent, food was delish and super fresh. Hope to go back to experience their dinner menu sometime soon.
The views and ambiance are worth the drive! And the complimentary glass of bubbles was quite the welcome for the birthday girl! The chef visited all the tables while we were dining, which was great to see! The food was excellent, love that its locally grown wherever possible! The menu was small for brunch but we enjoyed the Eggs Benny and the Flat Iron steak!
The view is spectacular. The décor is elegant. Our server (Ai) was attentive and beautiful. Food was good and the wine selection by the glass was good. Wonderful ambiance for a quiet meal (however, it was not busy so might get louder if more tables were filled).
Food and view were fantastic... the only negative was that the waitress brought the bill and we did not ask for it... and I was thinking of having a coffee or dessert and then she brought the machine and interrupted while we were still talking and not ready to go....note to management... in a nice place like that...it is training....otherwise highly recommend this restaurant...
We attended at the Eyrie for my husband's 70th birthday celebration together with a friend who also celebrated his 70th the day before; "breakfast at the Eyrie". Our table placement was first class with the most incredible views of the sea and mountains. A wee bit of a problem initially with cool coffee which was quickly resolved by our waitress Ashley - some warm milk too was added to the mix and all was, once again, well with the world. The breakfast was first class, the ambience was first class, and so thank you Eyrie for making our day even more special.
Amazing food, impeccable service, stunning view (in the daylight), you can’t go wrong to dine at this restaurant!!!
My daughter and I had dinner Sat 27th... I had the short ribs and they were excellent, however the veggies and starch were disappointing...the amuse was hard to eat and had no taste. The house made ricotta appetizer was bland, it would have been better if the bread was crispier as everything was soft. My daughter had the zuchinni spaghetti & it was good for a big bowl of veggies & the same price as the short ribs??? The server was over polite & vanished for long periods of time. Next day we had the brunch & it was amazing & the view is spectacular. I would most definetley go back for brunch and am eager to try the Drivers lounge.
Wine flights were a nice addition.
The noise level was high because of our over active 3 year old. Fortunately, we were put in a nice corner away from other customers.
Summit is always a treat. We usually go for lunch when daylight affords the spectacular Finlayson Arm and distant mountain views in the best focus. The ever changing clouds and sun make the views dynamic and fascinating.
The service is always excellent with mature and well-seasoned servers who know their stuff.
Finally, the food is always great featuring local and seasonal ingredients well cooked and served. The desserts are also tasty and beautifully presented.
The limited wine list has several excellent choices including a variety of flights for tasting. Cocktails are well mixed and well presented.
We celebrated at milestone birthday in our family and were not disappointed in our dining experience. Our server Kyla was attentive but not over intrusive. She made sure that our allergy issues were taken care of and took photos for us at the end of our meal. The view of Finlayson Arm is breathtaking! I recommend having lunch here to take advantage of the view. We enjoyed our meal for the most part. The tuna tartar and bison carpaccio were hits, the caesar salad was huge, fresh and tasty. We all indulged in dessert; gelato and sorbet selections were beautifully presented and delicious. Dad and I had the ricotta mouse which hit the spot, not too sweet with a delicious mango sauce. We will be back again for brunch in the near future.
So obviously the draw here is the view, and spectacular it is. The restaurant is set up so there is mostly not a bad seat in the house. And again, obviously, if you are going in the winter months, go early, as you'll loose the view as the dark comes earlier.
The service was top notch, attentive but not overly so.
The food is good. Not "blow your mind" great, but good. On par with what you'd get at fine dining establishments in Victoria for around the same price. So any criticism I would make it more about the inflated costs of fine dining than it is about this place. You'll have a perfectly good meal, likely $150 for 2 with drinks and appies.
Super views and great service, consider better signage
We were so excited to take our Vancouver friends and show off this jewel. We were all so impressed with the ambiance, the fantastic view, our friendly server and the great food. No disappointments at all.
Helpful and friendly staff
Good value with amazing ambiance
We had a very underwhelming meal the Villa Eyrie. First off the restaurant was practically empty when we arrived and we had to wait over 5 minutes before even being greeted at the hostess desk. Looked like they were understaffed as many of the tables weren't cleared from previous guests. We spent some time admiring the beautiful view then ordered our Summitt Breakfast and Waffle. The food was pretty bad: cold, runny scrabbled eggs, waffle was burnt and missing all it's edges. It wasn't worth complaining since what we thought was understaffed was merely just slow and inefficient staff. Our server only had 4 tables. We just wanted to get out of there. When we got our bill, we noticed they over charged us for our breakfast (pricing discrepancy between the breakfast and brunch menus). They were apologetic and quickly fixed it but it made us wonder how long that had been going on without a. someone noticing or b. they've known about it and not updated the menus. Anyways, the view was beautiful but the service and quality of the food was well below par (golf pun intended). Unlikely to return or recommend.
The food was amazing and so was the view but unfortunately the service was bad. It took a long time to get seated for our reservation and everyone seemed really flustered and rushed . They forgot the drinks we ordered and we had to ask for them a second time . They forgot what we ordered and had to come back and ask a second time . When we asked for more coffee we never got it . When they asked if we needed anything else and we asked for cream and sugar for the coffee and ketchup, they also forgot and we had to ask twice. No one ever came back to our table and at the end of the meal our plates were not cleared and the bill was not brought to us. We had to go up to the front to pay and then wait until the manager found our waitress. The food was good enough though that we would go back and try again.
In the 5 years living on Vancouver Island, this was the best meal I have had.
The view and the service were second to none.
My overall assessment is that the back of the house works exceptionally well. And that more work is required to ensure an equally great experience in the front of the house.
The food is delicious. The staff is very accommodating. If I have to offer constructive feedback, I’d say that the place could use a few more tables to bump up the ambience. The buzz in a restaurant excites everybody. Having too few tables doesn’t create this buzz. Also, the lighting requires adjusting. It was way too bright in the evening, which, in combination with relatively few tables, leads to a less than stellar ambiance.
One more comment about the lighting: to get to the restaurant you have to walk through the lobby. The lobby is way too bright in the evenings. I think the entire place would benefit from softer lighting.
I would also say that one of the appeals of this place is the view during the daytime. So perhaps the restaurant has focussed more on the daytime dining experience.
Spectacular setting, especially on a clear day. Interesting menu options
The service was extremely slow it took 25 minutes to get a caprese salad and the bouillabaisse was very underwhelming
I was disappointed in the menu. It seems to have lost its focus as a reason to make the trip from Victoria. The last time I was there was two years ago, I am sorry to say it has been so long since my last visit. Then the menu was inventive and quality of food and preparation made the trip worthwhile. In fact, during that year we made the trip several time bringing friends each time. They all loved it! Back then the service was eloquent and attentive. I very much remember a bowl of mushrooms as a starter and a wonderful starter green salad. Now the salad is unpalatable filled with sharp and pungent greens that are hard-leafed and hard to get in one`s mouth. One taste and I stopped.
There were no other customers, it seemed, in the restaurant so we expected attentive service, but the drinks took forever. The food came quickly enough.
Frankly, I felt that the Villa Eyrie has fallen on hard times and the menu has been pared down to the basics and the quality of food is of lesser quality. Sorry but it feels as you folks are in last ditch effort to stay open. I am sorry I could not write a better review.
We enjoyed breakfast and dinner on the same day. Our table had a breathtaking view. The food was exceptional. One of our party was celebrating a birthday and the pastry chef drew a cartoon type picture of himself in drizzled chocolate plus birthday wishes. A very nice touch. Our son-in-law (his birthday) took a picture of it but unfortunately it's on his phone and he's on his way back to Ontario! Breakfast was equally delicious and the service beyond expectations.
Aside from a mixup in foods ordered we enjoyed our luncheon. A little delay but satisfied anyway with our meals. I love the Eyrie! A gem in South Vancouver Islands scenic drives!
The location and view are breathtakingly beautiful. The menu options were fair. The food seemed to take awhile to arrive. The mashed potatoes accompanying my main course were tasty but cold. The duck in my main course was cooked medium as requested, but was a bit dry in parts. The main course overall despite being tasty was not hot nor warm temperature-wise. I was pleasantly surprised with my dessert’s artistic design displaying happy birthday message. We did wait quite a while for the bill to arrive at the end. If I return, it will be more so for the view and décor.
