   This is such a fun experience for a date night, birthday, or any special occasion. It’s intimate, fun, and the sushi is delicious. Highly recommend getting the bougie offering and chef recommended sake flight.

   The dining area is very small, akin to a bar, but only seats around 12 people at a time. Nice seating area while waiting to be seated. The bar stools were comfortable, the cocktail I ordered said it has fresh ginger in it (ginger highball) but it was really just ginger lacquer. The bartender was so kind and tried fixing it but it was never very good, I choked down a couple big sips after all her effort. My boyfriend cocktail was also just fine (citrus highball) next time I would stick with wine or sake. We did the regular omikase 12 course, the chef was very friendly, and 12 courses was plenty! 6/12 of the pieces were good, 3/12 were excellent, and 3/12 were okay/very fishy. I wouldn’t go back but it was a good experience for the price.

   We got the 12 course omakase. The description states we would have 60 mins meal. We got seated 15 mins late at 8:15pm for our 8pm reservation. The host apologized for the delay, of course I thought we would still have 60min! The food itself was excellent. Our 12 courses were done by 850pm or so, the chef asked if we would like any extra pieces, which my girlfriend and I did order. After ordering a few extra pieces, at 9pm I tried ordering another piece and the chef rudely frowned at me and said my time was up and they had other dinners coming in. I was seated late, so my 60 min was really not up yet. I didn’t say anything as I didn’t want to cause a scene. He did give me the piece I ordered, but acted as if he was doing me a favor. The bottle of sake I ordered was listed at $68 on the menu, when I left the restaurant I noticed they charged me $77 for the bottle. Overall, I would go back as the food was good, and next time I’d probably go for the 16 or 17 course omakase that allows extra time/courses. The host was also very delightful and pleasant, her name was Zara Khan.

   We had a great date night at this spot while staying at the hotel for a quick weekend trip to Chicago. The chef and service was top notch. The food was so amazing and some of the best sushi we have ever had. Highly recommend.

    I do really love sushi by bou for the value and vibes. Yes, they play fun music and it isn't the usual dead-quiet omakase experience, but that's the vibe. And yes, they have super short seatings and get you in and out pretty quickly, but it is considerably cheaper than many of the other omakase places. So you need to go in to expect and enjoy a different, fun, vibe. I have eaten here before and at other sushi by bou locations and have always loved it and had a great time. The staff are always great and they have great cocktails. Our recent dinner there was also great, but we noticed the nigiri pieces were just a touch too small. Even with the 18 course meal we had a 2nd dinner later that night. I really hope they can continue to offer great value and decent nigiri sizes to match everything else that is great about this place!

    The Omakase was exceptional but at one point, the waitress brought out sake shots for everyone sitting at the bar, claiming they were “birthday” shots for one of the guests (everyone got them, including the chef). We were surprised to find that we had been charged $42 for the shots, which we had no opportunity to turn down, and which had been marketed as complimentary. However, the dinner and drinks were outstanding, and the experience was great and so fun as a whole.

    Let's start with we were greeted by being told to wait outside while other guest were being served cocktails inside. Then we were told the night was over booked and they wanted one of us to sit on the chefs freezer at the end of the bar on an added chair.... chefs has ZERO interactions being a "Omakase Experience" there was no experience... super rushed once your last piece was given you needed to get up from the seat. I guess you get what you pay for....

    Food was good. Wouldn’t mind coming back. It would be a good experience if you haven’t gone to a place like this before. Or, never have tried sushi. Place looks nice and chill. Good place to hang out and catch up with a friend or even impress your date. I really like the workers. The host was nice and even have a conversation with the guests. Waitress and waiter are always checking up on you if you need anything and always refilling up your drink. And the chief! The most important person. The chief has good knowledge of each sushi and even knows where is the best spots in the world to get the seafood and when to get them. Overall! It was a good. I would take my friends here.

    Felt like a pop-up restaurant even though it is not. Fish was only adequate quality. Service felt rushed. We arrived early, but still had to wait for our "round" of sushi and then were rushed through the process.

    The meal was one of the most enjoyable experiences i have had at a Chicago restaurant. The fish was all excellent and the staff attentive without being intrusive. The whole ambience was one of quality and service. Many thanks to our chef and also to Xara (i think that was her name).

    I made reservations on Sept 17 @8:15 for my boyfriend and I's 2nd yr anniversary. This place made most of my expectations. The food quality was amazing. The atmosphere was fun and chill. The service was kind of disappointing. Firstly, when you arrive there, the doors are locked unless you either ask the front desk or knock the door loud enough for the security to notice. Secondly, We had a chef that was "loose" which I do not mind but he told us that he was drunk. He was chill to interact with but at the end it was an awkward yet "idc" tone. Lastly we didn't even experience the full course. We only ate 8/12 courses. The chef lost track of which course we were on. I had to correct him of what we just ate. After the course my bf and I realize we missed a few courses. I asked the chef if we had everything and he said yes and brushed it off. I personally didn't feel comfortable confronting the chef nor I wanted to cause any issues. So I just paid and left. I let my anxiety beat me which I regret. I shouldn't pay full price when my partner and I didn't try everything. Also reading other reviews. We were on time and even the host made us wait in the lobby area for 5-8mins which was fine. So our time over shouldn't have been rushed our courses at all when they made us wait.

    Didn’t really know what to expect, but seats are at the bar by the chefs and you are served a 12 course of extremely tasty nigiri. The chefs are very outgoing and interesting - not a place to come if you want to catch up with the person/people you came with - almost feel like you have to interact with the chefs. I expected to still be hungry after, but I was decently satisfied. For $50 and a quick dinner (45 mins), it was worth it!

    I have always wanted to experience Omakase but couldn’t get myself to drop $150-$300 for it so when I saw this for cheaper, I figured it’ll be nice to try as a starter. The experience was great. The chef was inviting, funny, and nice. The sushi was so good. I was never a big fan of fatty tuna or uni but it was so yummy here. Every bite was so delicious. The drinks were also very good but a little pricey but that’s how it usually is with Japanese inspired drinks. Overall, we had a good experience. This is also coming from my husband who is a super super picky eater.

    Had an interesting experience. Chef Navakun served us the most amazing sushi that we ever ate, and God he was such an entertaining person. Our time was a little bit delayed, but it was worth it waiting. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

    Our Thai chef was adorable and experienced. My family loved the flavor and the quality of the sushi. The chef shared that the uni quality was subpar so they served Waguy uni. Absolutely creative without missing the umami and the texture.

    Food is great and the omakase is a great value. We did feel a bit rushed especially because the parties before ran a bit late. I’ve done the 30 min omakase in NYC before and somehow they managed to keep on time without feeling quite as rushed. Half of the sushi bar had the option for a la carte extra pieces but because we waited an extra 5 min or so for them to reset the table settings on the counter, we ran out of time.

    Quality incredible, service incredible, flavors incredible. Can't wait to return. The only downside is that the portions are very small- wish they were bigger. Left hungry. You either need to eat something prior or after.
